‘The White Lotus' Stars Walton Goggins And Aimee Lou Wood Reveal The Truth Behind Instagram ‘Feud'
Aimee Lou Wood and Walton Goggins Rick and Chelsea, the tragic lovers from the third season of HBO's The White Lotus, were fan favorites during the show's run earlier this year. The actors who played them also became the center of much gossip after the season came to a close. This was partly due to comments made by Jason Isaac, who played troubled investment banker Timothy Ratliff, in the third season. The cast lived on-set in Thailand for months during the shoot, and Isaac said that tensions could sometimes run high, noting that there were 'fewer deaths but just as much drama' behind the scenes. Rumors of a split between Walton Goggins, who played Rick, and Aimee Lou Wood, who played Chelsea, reached fever pitch when fans noticed that Goggins had unfollowed his co-star on Instagram. Fandom is always thirsty for this kind of drama, but perhaps especially so for a series like The White Lotus, which is all about scandal, betrayal and the woes of the rich and famous. There was blood in the water, and the sharks came circling. Goggins also didn't join his fellow cast members at the finale event, watching it alone instead, though he was in New York for a late-night appearance at the time. I never commented on these rumors. Tawdry gossip has never been something I feel the need or desire to comment on. Gossip journalism is certainly big business, but it's not my cup of tea. I am happy, however, to report on the outcome. In a lengthy interview with the two co-stars over at Variety, they clear the air and put the rumors to bed once and for all. After a discussion of the infamous SNL sketch that mocked Wood's appearance, and Goggins' regret at posting about it on social media, they clear the air. From the interview: He also addressed the NYT interview in which he refused to answer multiple questions about the supposed feud, saying he wouldn't answer them without Wood present. When Wood is asked about the Instagram unfollowing she replies: Goggins makes it clear that saying farewell to co-stars is just part of his process. When he left the show Justified "I went up to Tim [Olyphant], and I hugged him and I said, 'I love you, and I hope I see you in rooms for the rest of my life. I didn't talk to him for almost two years. I've done that with every single thing that I've done.' He continues: It's all part of his 'catharsis' according to Goggins. He would have done the same thing if he'd been following Olyphant or his The Shield co-star Michael Chiklis on Instagram at the time. Still, during the interview he gets up, grabs his phone and follows Wood on Instagram. 'It's all so ridiculou. It's just a part of me just saying goodbye to this character so that now Aimee and I will be friends for *#$&ing ever.' Read the full interview at Variety. Read my review of the Season 3 finale of The White Lotus here. So now that the rumors have been put to bed, can we talk about something important again? Like where we think the next season of The White Lotus will take place? I'm hoping it's Africa or maybe Eastern Europe. Or perhaps somewhere in South America or Mexico. It's a big world, after all.

Law & Order: Organized Crime Recap: After a Death in the Family, Will Stabler Turn to the Dark Side?
The Stabler family tragedy some of us feared upon seeing the title of the Season 5 finale — 'He Was a Stabler' — comes to pass in the season's penultimate episode this week: Joe Jr. dies after being shot during a drug bust gone wrong. The youngest Stabler brother dies in Elliot's arms, setting the bereft detective on a path that is potentially illegal and definitely immoral. Olivia Benson, take the wheel! (No, seriously, can you please show up next week to set your boy straight?) More from TVLine Jeopardy! Masters Finale Crowns Season 3 Winner: Was Victoria Groce Dethroned? How to Watch Love Island: USA Season 7 Online Days of Our Lives Reveals John Black's Tragic Fate, Eight Months After Actor Drake Hogestyn's Death Read on for the highlights of 'Off the Books.' EMERY KNOWS |Early in the episode, Emery lets Joe know that he's very aware of the youngest Stabler brother's contact with Elliot. So he makes sure Joe is present when Emery has his thug kill a man who reneged on a deal. The unspoken message: Fear my wrath. On Emery's orders, Joe trashes the place afterward, but makes sure to leave a little clue for his brother before he goes. Det. McKenna is first on the scene and finds the foil-wrapped packet of drugs Joe placed at the scene. While McKenna doesn't know the ins and out of Joe's involvement, he knows enough to call Elliot to let him know what they found. The substance is something brand new, and when Det. Tanner gets wind that McKenna gave Stabler a heads-up, she wants to know why. Oh, and she also informs him that they're now working the case together. Stabler makes reference to his confidential informant being on the inside of whatever's going down, but when she presses him for more information, he's squirrelly. Eventually he lets her know that his CI is his brother, and I'm grateful for her very important reminder that THIS IS A TERRIBLE IDEA. Law & Order: SVU Season 27: Everything We Know So Far View List WHO'S USING WHOM? | Joe calls Elliot to give him a heads-up about a big drug deal that's about to go down, but after they get off the phone, we see that Emery is forcing Joe to feed his brother misinformation. There is, indeed, a drug operation at the address Joe gives Elliot. But when the New York Police Department rolls in to shut it all down, it's not quite the huge deal Joe implied. Tanner quickly realizes that Emery used them to take out his biggest competition in selling the new drug, and as much as Elliot doesn't want to admit it, it seems like his brother is playing him. 'COME HOME' | Meanwhile, Randall finds out that Joe called Elliot — thanks, Kathleen — and storms down to the office to yell that he's having premonitions that something bad is going to happen to their little brother. Elliot lets him know that Joe is back in town, and tasks him with telling Joe to call Elliot the next time he rings Bernie's cell. Randall does as instructed, which leads to Elliot and Joe having a rooftop meet-up. Joe gives El the location where Emery is going to seal a gigantic drug deal the next day. El gives Joe a medallion — likely the same one Bunny gave him in the season premiere, no? — and says that Bernie wanted him to have it. Joe desperately wants his mother to know he's clean, but Elliot reassures him that she never knew he was using heroin in the first place. They hug before they part, with Elliot telling his brother, 'Come home.' GOODBYE, JOE | Thing is, Joe lied to Elliot to keep the cops away from where the deal is actually going down, in a whole different borough. But ANOTHER thing is, Elliot is a lot smarter than his Guy Fieri-haired sibling. And when the cops creep in with a caravan of backup, Emery figures out that Joe's new medallion has a tracker on the back of it. An incensed Emery, Joe and Emery's thug make a run for it; Elliot is desperately searching the warehouse when he gets a call from Emery. The rich Brit, who has a gun on Joe, offers a deal: 'Remove the APB on me,' which will allow him to leave town unencumbered, 'or he dies.' Stabler stammers that he'll work on the situation, but as a helicopter circles overhead, it's too late. Emery hangs up, and Stabler hears a gunshot in the vicinity soon after. He runs to find Emery gone and Joe bleeding out from a gunshot wound to the chest. 'I mailed it,' the younger Stabler gasps, blood trickling from his lips, as Elliot pulls him close and begs him to stick around because 'Mama's been waiting for you.' But things are going downhill very quickly. 'Tell her I was clean,' Joe whispers, then he's gone. Elliot puts his face very close to his little brother's and sobs. 'LET'S GO FOR A RIDE' | Later, Stabler breaks down again when another officer asks if he moved the body. 'I held him,' Elliot barely gets out, crying as he looks down at Joe's blood on his hands. Tanner arrives and sits with him, telling him to go be with his family. We watch (but do not hear) as a montage shows him telling Randall and Kathleen. (But not Eli and Becky? Or BERNIE?) Then Stabler pulls his car into an alley where McKenna is waiting for him… with Emery's thug tied up in the trunk. 'I was going to book him, but then I heard about your brother. So, we can take him in, or we can go for a ride,' McKenna says. He's barely done speaking when Stabler makes his choice: 'Let's go for a ride.' Now it's your turn. Will you miss Joe? Do you think Stabler ultimately will make the right choice? Are you ready for next week's finale? Hit the comments with all of your thoughts! Venmo taps ‘White Lotus' stars for push beyond peer-to-peer payments
This story was originally published on Marketing Dive. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Marketing Dive newsletter. Venmo, the digital payments platform owned by PayPal, launched a new campaign featuring 'The White Lotus' stars Aimee Lou Wood and Patrick Schwarzenegger meant to celebrate the app's various commerce solutions, according to a press release. A 60-second spot set to a remixed version of the Black Sheep song 'The Choice Is Yours' follows Wood and Schwarzenegger as they dance their way through various scenarios where they seamlessly make purchases using Venmo. The campaign will appear across culturally relevant touchpoints including TV during the NBA finals, social media, podcasts and gaming platforms. The effort arrives as the platform's commerce tools, including Pay with Venmo and the Venmo Debit Card, report double-digit growth. Venmo is touting its full range of commerce capabilities for its latest campaign, an effort that is joined by the unveiling of several new benefits for consumers who use their Venmo balance beyond the peer-to-peer payments for which the platform is best known. The push comes as adoption of digital payments grows. Roughly nine in 10 consumers in both the U.S. and Europe report having made some form of digital payment over the past year, with the U.S. reaching a new high at 92%, according to McKinsey. At the center of the campaign is a 60-second spot, directed by Tajana Tokyo, that begins with Wood asking Schwarzenegger, 'I thought Venmo was for paying people?' when she observes the star using his Venmo balance to book a rideshare. Schwarzenegger responds, 'Yeah, and for everything else.' The duo then erupts into a dance number, supported by a fresh refrain for 'The Choice Is Yours' ('You can Venmo this, you can Venmo that'), as they use Venmo to make a swath of purchases. Over 64 million U.S. consumers use Venmo each month for tasks like splitting meals, sending birthday gifts and paying their portion of rent, per release details. However, traction is growing for its other payment features. Total payment volume for its Pay with Venmo feature, which allows consumers to pay in-store, online and in-app using Venmo, was up over 50% in the first quarter and monthly active cardholders of the Venmo Debit Card grew 40%. The platform's revenue saw a 20% lift year-over-year in Q1, while monthly active accounts grew 30%. Enlisting Wood and Schwarzenegger for the effort could help Venmo extend to new audiences and grow loyalty. 'The White Lotus' is currently experiencing a surge in popularity and has built one of the largest followings of any HBO series. Other digital payment platforms have emphasized their shopping solutions, including PayPal, which launched its largest-ever U.S. advertising campaign in terms of spend and scale last year with Will Ferrell to showcase how easy it is to shop using its platform and Debit Mastercard. A year prior, Apple launched a 'Pay the Apple Way' campaign promoting its Apple Pay service. To support its campaign, Venmo also revealed limited-time cash back offers for brands popular among its users. Venmo Debit Card holders can earn 15% cash back from Sephora, Walmart, Lyft, McDonald's and Walgreens. They can make purchases more easily with new features including tap-to-pay, automatic transfers and zero international transaction fees. Additionally, Venmo expanded its presence at checkout in-app and online, allowing consumers to pay using Venmo at brands including Instacart, Domino's, Uber and TikTok Shop.
