Bindu's husband Visruthan told reporters on Saturday that his son is a BTech in civil engineering, and the family wants the govt to give him a job based on his educational qualifications.
Minister VN Vasavan, who visited the family on Friday evening after Bindu's funeral, said that the govt will take care of the treatment of Bindu's daughter Navami, give Navaneeth a temporary job at the MCH, while the cabinet will decide on the compensation amount to be given to the family.
Though Visruthan indicated that the family is unlikely to go ahead with a complaint, he sounded unhappy over the job offered by the govt to his son. Navaneeth was planning to hand over the first salary he received working as a delivery boy to his mother before tragedy struck.
Meanwhile, the Kottayam district collector will be handing over a primary report to the govt on the basis of which the cabinet will fix the compensation amount for the family.
Navami will be admitted back to the MCH for further treatment on Monday.
5L from Chandy foundation
Meanwhile, MLA Chandy Oommen told Visruthan that the Rs 5 lakh from the Oommen Chandy Foundation will be handed over to the family within 10 days. Oommen also visited the old hostel block for men on the MCH campus, which was in a dilapidated condition. He said that from the road leading up to the hostel to the entire building itself were in pathetic condition. The cement plastering at many places had come out. Speaking to reporters, Oommen urged the panchayat and the govt to act fast and conduct an examination of the fitness of the building.

Green barricades: Illegal mining roads blocked in Nuh with 7,500 saplings
Gurgaon: Two illegal roads in Nuh's Basai Meo village, where illegal mining is rampant, have been blocked by planting around 7,500 saplings by the authorities in 13 days. The two roads were carved out by the mining mafia to gain access to the ecologically sensitive Aravalis to carry out quarrying. To permanently obstruct these entry points and restore the damaged area, the forest department converted them into green zones through rapid afforestation. "We completed the plantation drive over a 15km stretch in the ridge area along the two illegal roads, which were paved for non-forest activities. The drive started on June 22 and concluded on Friday," said divisional forest officer (Nuh) Pradeep Gulia,. The objective is to develop a green patch on the 33-foot-wide illegal roads. The forest department plans to employ drone surveillance for real-time monitoring to ensure the saplings' survival and prevent further encroachment. Officials asserted that the initiative is not only an ecological restoration effort but a strategic measure also to block access routes repeatedly exploited by mining operators despite curbs. Techno Mag Learn More Undo Basai Meo has been under scrutiny after revelations of illegal road construction and mining on forest and agricultural land, directly contravening the Supreme Court directives and environmental norms. A report by Central Empowered Committee (CEC) confirmed illegal construction of a 1.5km road, allegedly created to facilitate transportation for illegal stone mining. The committee also highlighted inaction by the local panchayat about involvement of elected representatives. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is investigating alleged collusion between officials of the land consolidation department and those associated with miners to permit construction on forest and agricultural land. Three govt officials have been arrested, and a reward of Rs 50,000 each has been announced for the absconding former sarpanch and two others. The SC has prohibited mining in the protected Aravali region, which includes parts of Nuh, to conserve the fragile ecosystem and prevent further environmental degradation. The apex court banned mining within 5km of Delhi in 2002 and imposed a blanket ban on mining in south Haryana in 2009 after observing significant damage to the Aravalis. A 2018 report by the SC-appointed CEC noted that approximately 25% of the Aravali range was lost due to illegal mining in Rajasthan between 1967 and 1968.

Rajasthan Sanjeevani scam: A deepening rift between Gehlot and Shekhawat
The bitter war of words between former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat over the Sanjeevani Credit Cooperative Society scam has taken a deeply personal and political turn. What began as a high-profile financial fraud investigation has now escalated into an emotional battle involving reputations, family dignity, and accusations of political vendetta. At the heart of the controversy lies a Rs 950 crore scam that defrauded over 1.5 lakh investors through fake loans and false promises of high returns. While the legal case drags on, the political fallout has intensified with the latest flashpoint being Shekhawat's public refusal to forgive Gehlot for allegedly defaming his mother. Gehlot, in a sharp rebuttal to Shekhawat's recent statements, maintained on Sunday that he has 'always respected his (Shekhawat's) mother' and added pointedly, 'She must be asking him in heaven why he used her name for defamation, without any reason.' This counter-punch came just days after Shekhawat, while addressing the media in Jodhpur, said, 'I will not forgive Gehlot for the crime he committed against my mother's dignity. An apology through the media won't suffice.' This emotional framing has shifted the debate from legal and financial accountability to personal ethics and political morality, an uncommon but potent strategy in political discourse, where family honour is often invoked to sway public sentiment. Gehlot's argument hinges on the timeline of investigative reports. He criticised the incumbent BJP-led state government for allegedly rushing to clear Shekhawat's name. 'They gave him a clean chit in just two months after their government was formed. We took two years to complete our report. If our intentions were wrong, we too could have filed it in two months and sent him to jail,' Gehlot said. Interestingly, while the SOG's initial report named Shekhawat and members of his family, the agency changed its stance after the change in government, stating in the High Court that he was not an accused. Based on this reversal, the High Court granted Shekhawat relief but did not quash the FIR, said Gehlot. This is where the legal narrative becomes politically charged. Gehlot pointed out that the FIR is still valid and further action can be taken with the trial court's permission. 'With what arrogance is he speaking? The High Court has not cancelled the FIR,' he remarked, questioning Shekhawat's confident declarations of innocence. By emphasising this legal technicality, Gehlot seeks to undercut Shekhawat's claim of vindication. The former Chief Minister is trying to reframe the clean chit not as an acquittal, but as a procedural relief subject to further investigation, said political experts. Amid the political mudslinging, one group continues to be sidelined, the victims. The Sanjeevani Credit Cooperative Society, established in Barmer in 2008, promised high returns and foreign tours, luring thousands into investing. Eventually, around Rs 950 crore was siphoned off through bogus accounts and fake loans. While several arrests have been made, including alleged mastermind Vikram Singh, most of the investors are still waiting for justice and recovery. Gehlot reminded the public of this forgotten suffering, reiterating that his statements and actions were meant to show the victims that the government stood with them. What started as a financial investigation has turned into a political drama charged with emotion, legal manoeuvring, and public posturing. Both Gehlot and Shekhawat are leveraging personal narratives and institutional reports to craft opposing stories—one of targeted victimhood, the other of dignified restraint and institutional integrity. As the Sanjeevani scam investigation continues in legal and political arenas, the real question remains: Will justice for the investors be overshadowed by the war of egos between two of Rajasthan's most prominent political figures?

Palwal CMO seeks s 15L bribe to let hospital operate, caught in sting op
Gurgaon: The state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau arrested Palwal's chief medical officer (CMO) after he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh at his official residence in a sting operation organised on Thursday night. Officials said Palwal resident Manohar, one of the three partners of Sunrise Trauma Hospital in the south Haryana district, complained to the state vigilance bureau last week that CMO Dr Jai Bhagwan was demanding a bribe of Rs 15 lakh to let the facility operate. Manohar alleged that the CMO threatened to shut down the facility by claiming that there were deficiencies in its functioning. The hospital, according to Manohar, was opened three months ago by him and two others – Dheeraj and Subhash. You Can Also Check: Gurgaon AQI | Weather in Gurgaon | Bank Holidays in Gurgaon | Public Holidays in Gurgaon Manohar said he had already paid Rs 6 lakh to the CMO at his official residence in Palwal last month. A second tranche of Rs 1 lakh was given on July 2. The CMO was allegedly pressuring the hospital owner to pay the remaining bribe by saying he had to pay the share of other senior officers too. Manohar said he had limited resources and decided to approach the vigilance department and use Rs 1 lakh as bait for the sting operation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Beachfront Living in Mumbai at Sunteck Beach Residences Sunteck Realty Learn More Undo On Thursday night, an SVACB team from Gurgaon laid a trap as Manohar, equipped with covert recording devices and body-worn cameras, went to the CMO's house. Dr Bhagwan was arrested as soon as he took the cash. SVACB also carried out a search at the house and found cash worth Rs 3 lakh in a cupboard there. "A case has been registered against the accused under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 308(2) (extortion) of BNS. Further investigation is underway," a member of the SVACB said on Friday. Sources told TOI that the CMO may have sought bribes related to administrative permissions or contractual clearances under the health department. Investigators are looking into the possibility of the involvement of other officials in the district health department. Dr Bhagwan has been suspended in the past after being accused of serious allegations. In 2020, while he was the Jind CMO, Dr Bhagwan was suspended after a departmental probe found irregularities in the recruitment of ayurvedic medical officers. He was accused of manipulating vacancy declarations and bypassing merit-based selections. The same year, while serving as the civil surgeon in Kaithal, he led a raid on a diagnostics centre suspected of conducting illegal prenatal sex determination tests. But the officer was suspended soon after, following a complaint filed by a local BJP MLA. His suspension triggered statewide protests, with the Haryana Civil Medical Services Association calling it unjust and punishment for his efforts to curb illegal practices. Dr Bhagwan, during his stint as the Gurgaon CMO, was accused of molestation by a nurse in 2018. Then, in 2021, as Sonipat's principal medical officer, an FIR for molestation was registered against him after a doctor alleged that he had sent her obscene messages. He was suspended by the health department a third time.
