Ram on the health scare
Ram opened up about his health struggles, which he faced two years back, when he joined Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa on their podcast, revealing he used to eat an entire KFC bucket by himself.
Ram said, 'When I was shooting Neeyat in Scotland, I was at my worst. I was taking insulin shots thrice a day, before every meal. I was 140 kg, and my sugar was at ridiculous heights. My doctor told me that I'm working so much and I'm so unhealthy, I could have a diabetic stroke. That's how unhealthy I was. I had to do a transformation, otherwise I would not have long to live.'
During the chat, he shared that he promised his son that he would start taking better care of himself when he turned 50. He emphasised that he is still a work in progress.
The actor confessed that drastically changing his appearance was a huge risk, given that audiences had grown accustomed to his look over the past 25 years.
Ram shared, 'A doctor told me that I would have to start Ozempic or Monjaro because of the bad shape I was in. I would've had a diabetic stroke otherwise. If I had not gotten fit, I would have 100% taken it, because I trust my doctor. He looks after my entire family, and he's a friend. He said, 'You have two options, you either change yourself, or tu mar jayega (you will die)'.'
Ram Kapoor's latest work
Ram was most recently seen in Mistry, the Hindi adaptation of Monk. He plays an ex-Mumbai Police officer who solves the hardest cases led by Mona Singh's (ACP Sehmat Siddiqui) team but struggles with severe OCD. Helmed by Rishab Seth and written by Ritviq Joshi and Aarsh Vora, the show also stars Shikha Talsania, Kshitish Date, and Namantar Rajendra, among others, in key roles. It is available to watch on JioHotstar.

Sunny Deol reveals the industry doubted Gadar: Ek Prem Katha: ‘They didn't even like the songs'

Actor Sunny Deol's Gadar: Ek Prem Katha is remembered as one of Bollywood's most iconic blockbusters, but few know that the film was met with skepticism before its release. In a recent interview with Zoom, Sunny revealed that the industry not only doubted the film's success but also dismissed its now-iconic music. Despite initial doubts from the industry, Sunny Deol's Gadar: Ek Prem Katha became a cultural hit.(PTI) Sunny opens up about how industry reacted to Gadar Reflecting on how disconnected the industry was from the audience's pulse, Sunny said, 'Whenever I used to play the songs for people, they didn't like them at the time. But now, the film takes itself along; it carries itself. Nobody can stop it. This happens because the industry and the audience are not in sync. When you get more, you forget. You drift apart from your craft.' Sunny also shared that he was initially unsure about doing the film when director Anil Sharma approached him with the script. But everything changed after that first narration. 'When he narrated the subject, I just fell in love with it. The whole night we listened to the narration, and the discussion happened. And my only thing was that it had to look like that period. Because if that period is not shown, then the story won't feel real. Working on it was a great experience throughout the film. I enjoy all my films, whichever one I do, because there are so many memories attached to them,' Sunny added. Despite doubts from the industry, Anil Sharma-directed Gadar, which also starred Ameesha Patel, became a cultural phenomenon and a box office juggernaut. It earned ₹133 crore in 2001. Its 2023 sequel, Gadar 2, repeated history, becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films ever, earning ₹691.08 crore. Sunny's upcoming project Sunny Deol is set to return in Border 2, the sequel to the 1997 war epic directed by JP Dutta. He also has Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan and co-starring Preity Zinta. Sunny will also play Lord Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana.

State norm for prime-time theatre slots for Bengali films debuts today

Kolkata: The new rule of slotting at least one prime-time show, between 3 pm and 9 pm, to a Bengali film at all screens in the state will have to be implemented from Friday. While the move will ensure lesser-known Bengali films secure programming slots, show allocations may get complicated as many Bengali producers and distributors avoid state-wide releases or do not give films to all theatres. Almost all theatres and multiplexes in the city have already implemented the govt notification. Currently, six Bengali films — 'Dhumketu', 'Tobuo Bhalobashi', 'Dear Maa', 'Putulnacher Itikatha', 'Goodbye Mountain' and 'Bhutopurbo' — are screening in Kolkata. While Kaushik Ganguly's 'Dhumketu' is being screened at 160 properties in Bengal, Rabindra Nambiar's 'Tobuo Bhalobashi' has also got prime-time shows at many multiplexes here. A committee formed by minister Aroop Biswas, comprising Tollywood stakeholders, convened a meeting to determine how to prevent Bengali films from competing against each other at the box office. "Four Bengali films are slated for puja release. Future festival releases will be decided at the coming meetings," said 'Dhumketu' distributor Satadeep Saha. After two days of release, the number of shows of 'Dhumketu' increased from 460 to over 550," said co-producer Rana Sarkar. Navina cinema's owner Navin Chowkhani said, "This notification puts an end to any dadagiri of Hindi movie distributors at Bengal's cinemas. With Bengali movies doing phenomenally well, I am screening 'Dhumketu' at all three shows." But some theatres are yet to show Bengali films in prime time. Among such a hall is New Empire, where all four shows are devoted to 'War 2'. "Some theatres in Kolkata, such as Pradip, Society and Moonlight, have no taker for Bengali films. We have been told exceptions will be considered for them. New Empire is not showing 'Dhumketu' but it did not refuse to screen it. We had talks about film's New Empire screening before the notification was issued, and back then, we had decided against it. In future, no exhibitor will refuse to release a Bengali film in prime time," said distributor Saha. "At the same time, no distributor can refuse to release a Bengali film at a theatre if an exhibitor wants it." Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
