Hospital personnel notified Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook about Atwood. No autopsy was performed, but Cook said he was informed she died from a cardiac incident.
'We're really sad and overwrought,' Erie Runners Club president Dave Comi said. 'You stand out in the rain for hours to help the people (who are competing). There's nothing you can do about a natural occurrence, but it's still not right.'

Mariners' Cal Raleigh ties Hall of Famer's record with slump-busting, game-winning home run

Mariners' Cal Raleigh ties Hall of Famer's record with slump-busting, game-winning home run originally appeared on The Sporting News The Seattle Mariners' fans were chanting MVP, but Cal Raleigh hadn't played like one for a little while. So this one swing was much, much needed, both in the context of the game and the context of Raleigh's season. Down 2-0, with two men on, Raleigh launched a moonshot to dead center field, gone, home run, the go-ahead homer and the slump-busting swing. Raleigh, from slump to superhero -- his usual role this season in Seattle. MORE: Dodgers' fan favorite Eric Karros' son making MLB debut with different NL West team The home run was Raleigh's 43rd of the season. More significantly for present record-setting circumstances, it was Raleigh's 35th of the season while in the lineup as a catcher (and not a DH). That ties the American League record for most homers by a catcher in a season. He's tied with Ivan Rodriguez, the Hall of Famer, who previously did that in 1999, a year he won AL MVP. Raleigh has hit below .200 since the start of July. His home run pace had slowed way down, too. But this could be the swing that changes everything. The Mariners have been hot around him. If he heats up too, look out. MORE: Guardians' Nic Enright reaches special personal milestone in comeback from cancer Raleigh still has the single-season catcher home run record in his sights, at 48 by Salvador Perez. He's got a great chance of getting to 50 homers and beyond. And now he's got a special moment to draw on as he tries to rediscover his first-half magic. What a swing by the Big Dumper. Chicago Sky Coach Has Decision to Make After Angel Reese News

Chicago Sky Coach Has Decision to Make After Angel Reese News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Chicago Sky dropped to 12th place in the standings during the 2025 WNBA season after Sunday's 93 to 78 loss against the Indiana Fever. They now sit at 7-18, which is 5.0 games back from the final playoff spot. Chicago has been without veteran guard Ariel Atkins for the last four games, and two-time All-Star forward Angel Reese has missed three of the last four contests as well. These two are the Sky's leading scorers at 13.9 and 13.8 points per game, respectively. Fortunately for the Sky, head coach Tyler Marsh announced that Reese would return to the court for Tuesday's matchup against the Washington Mystics. Reese has played in 22 of the team's 25 games this season, and she has started in each of her appearances. In each of the three games that she has missed, 11-year veteran center Elizabeth Williams has taken her place in the starting lineup. With Reese now returning for the matchup against the Mystics, coach Marsh has a decision to make about who the second-year star will replace in the starting lineup. Forward Kamilla Cardoso has started in each of her appearances this season, so replacing her is unlikely. Williams has performed well in Reese's absence, averaging 9.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.7 assists per game. However, she is likely to be replaced by Reese because she has never started ahead of her or Cardoso, just alongside them when one is unavailable. Chicago has employed nine different starting lineups this season because of various injuries and players missing time due to overseas commitments. With Atkins still out, either Kia Nurse or Rebecca Allen will remain in the starting lineup. Michaela Onyenwere has started in six of her last seven appearances as well, so with her potentially back on Tuesday, she could replace Nurse or Allen. Tuesday's game tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET at CareFirst Arena in Washington D.C. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 29, 2025, where it first appeared.

Fox One will cost $19.99 per month when it arrives before NFL kickoff

Fox has finally revealed more information about its new streaming service that will offer access to news and sports across the media company's channels. The service, called Fox One, will cost $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year when it launches on August 21st — just weeks before the start of the 2025 NFL season on September 4th. Fox first announced its streaming service in May. It will combine livestreams and on-demand content from Fox News, Fox Sports, FS1, FS2, Fox Business Network, Fox Weather, local Fox stations, and other channels. Users will also get the option to bundle Fox One with its Fox Nation subscription for $24.99 per month. Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch said during an earnings call on Tuesday that Fox One will be available to pay TV subscribers for free, according to CNBC. With a base price of $19.99 per month, Fox One is cheaper than ESPN's standalone streaming app, which will cost $29.99 each month when it arrives in the fall. We will likely hear more about ESPN's rival app, including when it might arrive, during Disney's earnings call this week. In addition to ESPN, Fox One will also have to compete with the sports-focused streaming services from DirecTV and Comcast, which emerged after Fox's plans to create a live sports streaming package with ESPN and Warner Bros. Discovery fell through in January. Posts from this author will be added to your daily email digest and your homepage feed.
