Reckitt eyes new options to advance Air Wick unit sale, sources say

LONDON, June 3 (Reuters) - Britain's Reckitt (RKT.L), opens new tab is considering new options to advance a sale of its Essential Home business, home to Air Wick fresheners and Cillit Bang cleaners, after bids came in below expectations, two people with knowledge of the process said. The company still plans to pursue a sale, the people said, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks are private. Private equity firm Advent remains in talks for the assets, one of the people and a third person said. Reckitt, which also makes Mucinex cold medication and Durex condoms, said in July it was looking to offload a portfolio of homecare brands by the end of 2025. The proposed sale comes at a challenging time for businesses with factories around the world as they navigate U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs, which are roiling supply chains, boosting costs and dampening shopper sentiment. Reckitt could keep a stake in the business or structure a sale another way to bridge a gap in valuations, one of the people said, adding that some of the bids came in below its hopes of over 4 billion pounds ($5.4 billion). Reuters could not determine if other bidders remained in the process. Reckitt and Advent declined to comment. Bankers and CEOs have hit the brakes on mergers and acquisitions since Trump launched his trade war, with fewer deals getting signed than during the bleakest days of the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2008-2009 global financial crisis. Reckitt said in April that it was "continuing to progress" the sale of the Essential Home business but that market conditions might affect the time frame. Consumer staples companies are considered relatively resilient to economic downturns, but big brands like Reckitt, P&G (PG.N), opens new tab and Unilever (ULVR.L), opens new tab increasingly face competition from cheaper private label brands that gained popularity during the pandemic. Reckitt's Essential Home business has struggled for several quarters, with sales falling 7% in the first quarter of this year to 482 million pounds, about 13% of total revenue for the quarter. Reckitt has been undergoing a turnaround under CEO Kris Licht, who has sought to reassure shareholders concerned about the strength of the company's brands in North America and Europe, where consumer confidence has been dwindling. Gianluigi Donnarumma's agent responds to talk of shock PSG exit

Gianluigi Donnarumma was one of the stars of Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League-winning campaign, but the goalkeeper has been linked with a summer exit. The Italian may have had very little to do in the 5-0 thrashing of Inter Milan in the final, but he was superb during the competition, starring as the French side beat the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal. Still just 26 years old, Donnarumma has now added the Champions League to his CV which already boasts four Ligue 1 titles and the European Championship won with Italy in 2021. His future is in question, though, as his contract in Paris only runs until the summer of 2026, alerting the attention of interested parties. As one of the best goalkeepers on the planet, there would be no shortage of suitors for Donnarumma, with the likes of Premier League giants Manchester City and Serie A champions Napoli linked with a move. The possibility of a return to Italy with Napoli was put to the player's agent, Enzo Raiola, and while he noted that Donnarumma's mother is a fan of the club, the idea is fanciful. 'His mother is a huge Napoli fan, and she gets anxious watching their games. Gigio is connected to that,' Raiola told Radio CRC via 'He grew up as a Milan supporter, watching his older brothers in a Rossoneri shirt, but he never denied his roots. 'It's pure fantasy. I've an excellent relationship with Director Giovanni Manna, but we've never discussed Gigio.' Raiola also pointed out that there are few clubs who could meet his client's demands and that talks over a new deal with PSG are ongoing. 'It's an obvious question; many would like him, but only a few can afford him,' said the agent. 'He feels good in Paris, we're at the European champion club, so we have no complaints. We are working on a renewal.' Donnarumma was pushed on his future immediately after winning the Champions League in Munich last weekend. Still on the pitch after the triumph, he told Sky Italia: 'New deal or leaving? We will see what happens… I don't know. 'It's time to enjoy this magic season now. I will go on holiday and then we will see.' French publication Foot Mercato have also linked Bayern Munich and Real Madrid with a move for Donnarumma, if he does not extend his stay in Paris. More Trending The likelihood is that he remains with PSG, though, with the player making it clear that his preferred option is to sign a new contract. 'There are a lot of rumours, but the truth is that I am happy here,' he said. 'I feel appreciated by everyone here, the club has a lot of respect for me. 'I am very happy, I now have my bearings here, my priority is therefore to extend.' Owner suspends Pornhub, YouPorn, RedTube in France from Wednesday

PARIS, June 3 (Reuters) - The firm behind Pornhub, YouPorn and RedTube is suspending access to the adult content platforms in France from Wednesday, in a move that media said was in protest against a requirement for porn sites to verify that their users are 18 or older. "I can confirm that Aylo has made the difficult decision to suspend access to its user-uploaded platforms (P-rnhub, YouP-rn, RedTube) in France. We will be using our platforms to directly address the French public tomorrow," a spokesperson for Pornhub said on Tuesday. Aylo owns the affected platforms, as well as several other adult entertainment brands. Arcom, France's digital and audiovisual communication regulator, can request that porn websites are blocked and levy fines if it deems their age verification systems are insufficient. "If Aylo would rather leave France than apply our laws, they are free to do so," Clara Chappaz, France's junior minister for artificial intelligence and digital technology, wrote in a post on social media platform X. Arcom has said that 2.3 million minors access porn websites every month even though legally they should be blocked from them. Adult content platforms have come under fire elsewhere in the European Union. EU regulators said last month that several sites, including Pornhub, would be investigated for failing to comply with rules to protect children.
