Eyewitness Weather Forecast for May 6 — May showers bring…even more May showers

Yahoo06-05-2025

HERE IS YOUR EYEWITNESS WEATHER FORECAST FOR TUESDAY, MAY 6 FROM CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JORDAN REED:
Parts of central New York—including Chenango, Otsego, Madison, and Lewis counties—are under a Flood Watch, as heavy rain and slow-moving thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight could lead to flooding! Rivers and streams are already pretty full, so any additional rain might push them over the edge. The worst of the rain should taper off around midnight, but it's a good idea to stay updated in case flash flood warnings are issued.
At the same time, there's also a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 PM for some of the same areas, with storms potentially bringing strong winds or hail. This messy weather is all thanks to a slow-moving storm system that will keep things unsettled into Wednesday. Once a cold front moves through Wednesday night, we'll start to see cooler, drier conditions settle in.
Even after the heaviest rain ends, a few showers could stick around overnight. On Wednesday, western New York will begin to dry out, but places like the Finger Lakes may still see some scattered storms. By Wednesday night into Thursday, most of the rain will clear out, though the Southern Tier might still catch a few showers. Things are looking mostly dry by Thursday night, thanks to high pressure moving in.
Looking toward the weekend, there's a chance of rain on Friday and Saturday if a coastal storm develops, but it should move out by Sunday. Friday will likely be cool and cloudy, but by early next week, we're in for drier, warmer weather.

Severe night storms hit North Texas with 80 mph winds, causing widespread damage

Clean up, repairs begin after night of storms in North Texas Clean up, repairs begin after night of storms in North Texas Clean up, repairs begin after night of storms in North Texas Sunday night's storm had winds around 80 mph, dangerous conditions that caused massive amounts of damage across the entire metroplex. One of the hardest-hit places was Bonham, where wind and rain caused trees to hit homes and power lines all over town. Sunday night's storm was downright scary, just ask Preston Curry. "I was about to cry because, like, I don't, I'm scared of the dark," said Curry. He slept on the floor in his parents' room. He wasn't the only one feeling that way. "All around me. The house right across the street has had a tree. So tall, big old tree. And it's uprooted," said Philip Blander. Blander said he woke up to debris covering his street after the storm subsided. "I had an appointment in Sherman today at 10:30 a.m., and I couldn't hardly get out," he said. Nothing hit his house, but his friend David Johnson wasn't as lucky. "This morning, we went out there. Look, half of it split, and it fell in the yard. The other half fell all over there toward my kitchen, on top of the roof," said Johnson. A metal roof was completely ripped off a building downtown near the post office. While it took out a power line, somehow no one was hurt. That's something everyone we spoke to said they were thankful for. "I'm just glad that I survived this," said Blander. "Not lucky. I'm blessed. I'm blessed. Yeah. I'm blessed ... And I'm just glad nobody was hurt," said Johnson.

Eyewitness Weather for Monday, June 9th: Rain Tuesday Morning, But Still Not A Washout!

Meteorologist Jordan Reed has your latest Eyewitness Weather forecast for this Monday, June 9th… Starting late tonight, expect stormy weather to move in! Thunderstorms will sweep slowly across the area, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and even some hail. Because of how much rain could fall in a short time, the National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for a large part of the region, including Chenango and Madison counties, which will last through tomorrow morning. Flash flooding is a real concern, especially in spots that have already been soaked recently. After a brief lull during the day, storms are expected to fire up again this evening. Some could be severe, especially to the west, with damaging winds being the biggest threat. Hail is also possible, and there's even a slight chance of an isolated tornado. Flooding is a serious risk. Roads could become hazardous quickly, and rising water can be a lot more dangerous than it looks. Never try to drive through flooded roads or go around barricades—it only takes a small amount of water to sweep a car away. Floodwaters can also hide debris, downed power lines, or contaminants. Things should start calming down on Tuesday, with just a few leftover showers in the morning and better weather by the afternoon. Wednesday and most of Thursday look dry and pleasant, but more pop-up showers or storms could return later Thursday and into the weekend. Temperatures will stay mild, mostly in the 70s and low 80s during the day, with cooler nights in the 50s and low 60s. As the weekend approaches, expect it to feel a bit cooler again, with more clouds and some additional showers possible.
