ISRAEL ADESANYA is champing at the bit to return to the cage - despite some vocal fight fans calling for him to retire.
The former long-reigning UFC middleweight champion is currently on a three-fight skid, the worst of his professional MMA career.

Back-to-back title fight defeats to Sean Strickland and Dricus Du Plessis in September 2023 and last August put the Nigerian-born New Zealander in uncharted territory.
And a shock second-round TKO loss to Nassourdine Imavov in February raised further doubts over the fan favourite's fighting future.
Adesanya, 36, quickly dismissed the prospect of retirement but insisted he wouldn't rush back into the cage.
But a brief period of R&R, 'The Last Stylebender' is "ready" to make the walk to the octagon again.

In an exclusive interview with SunSport ahead of his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame, Adesanya said: "Oh yeah [the itch has returned].
'I sparred with Kamaru [Usman] in Miami when Volk [Alexander Volkanovski] got his belt back.
'And that was my first sparring back.
"I took some time out to just, you know, chill and let the brain relax.

'And yeah, I just knew straight away. So I've been itchy for a while, bro. I'm ready to go!'
At this moment in time, there are two standout opponents for what many believe will be a must-win next outing for Adesanya.
UFC champion Israel Adesanya reveals his Ultimate Unknowns including his dream fight and guilty pleasure
The first is fellow former 185lbs champion Strickland, who pulled off one of the biggest upsets in UFC history in their Sydney showdown two years ago.
The second is the resurgent Paulo Costa, who got back to winning ways last month at UFC 318 against Roman Kopylov.
Like the controversial and outspoken Strickland, Adesanya has history with Brazilian bruiser Costa.
Adesanya emerged victorious from their clash of undefeated middleweights on Fight Island in September 2020, stopping 'Borrachina' in the second round of their Abu Dhabi dust-up.
Rematches with both men intrigue the former champion, who recently told SunSport he's over the "halfway point" of his MMA career.

He said: "I think Paulo was going to fight this weekend.
"If he had won, I bet you he would've said something stupid.
"And I don't have to say much. I'd be like, 'Cool, alright, that sounds fun'.
"And give him a chance at redemption like people have done for me as well.
"And Strickland, if he wants to fight, sure. If not, ahh [shrugs his shoulders] it's alright."

Inside Chelsea's ‘very awkward' trophy lift event with empty seats and fans saying ‘players couldn't care less'

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) TROPHY parades in recent seasons have become a chance for thousands of fans to get together, line the streets and celebrate their team holding silverware aloft on an open top bus. But for Chelsea, after their Conference League and Club World Cup victories, it seems becoming Champions of the World wasn't enough to justify that level of chaos. Instead, the Blues opted for an hour-long in-house trophy celebration with a fairly drab atmosphere, leaving the players unenthused and some fans disappointed. Almost immediately after the 'ceremony' one Chelsea fan took to X to vent his frustration, claiming 'The players couldn't care less about this event lmao, very awkward.' It was a statement that was tough to disagree with. Another added: "This Chelsea trophy event, looks like the men's players don't want to be there! Show a little enthusiasm or smile for the fans that showed up! So awkward!" The Stamford Bridge west stand was far from full, with fans who bought tickets to the far right or left of the stand being instructed to move to the empty seats in the centre for a better view early on. READ MORE ON FOOTBALL 'Sell him at half time' Arsenal fans demand struggling star be AXED after shocking display Despite this, with a ticket costing just £5, less than a beer at the ground, fans were perhaps given fair value. Members of the Treble-winning women's team, including captain Millie Bright, were out first with the WSL title, league cup and FA Cup, before being joined by the entire men's team with the Club World Cup and Conference League trophies. Chelsea heroes Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo were given huge ovations by the supporters in attendance, before all of the announced new signings were given an official introduction to Blues' supporters - unsurprisingly it was Estevao Willian who got the biggest cheer. The new Brazilian was officially announced as a Chelsea player yesterday, a year after agreeing a deal to join Enzo Maresca's side, and was comically forced by Malo Gusto to watch the French fullback's goal against Estevao's Palmeiras side at the Club World Cup on the big screen. SUN VEGAS WELCOME OFFER: GET £50 BONUS WHEN YOU JOIN The idea was for the players to stroll down a blue carpet onto a plinth, before joining their team-mates to one side - though it seemed only Tosin Adarabioyo was fussed about trying to get his team-mates to avoid just walking to the side to join their pals, rather than take to the stage. The players were also given a chance to do a 'Donald Trump-less' lift of the Club World Cup trophy, but again, looked less than thrilled with captain Reece James not even holding the trophy aloft his head. Drake hints Cole Palmer is inspiration behind his new album name as he shares brilliant video of Chelsea star Though in fairness to James, it may be difficult to get ramped up and celebrate a trophy won over a month ago with few fans in attendance - or a US President looking on. Before they were allowed to head home, James and Maresca were asked for their message to the fans before their 25/26 campaign gets going with a pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday night. It was the manager who raised a few eyebrows in the ground with his 'rallying cry', after women's manager Sonia Bompastor had vowed for the team to target all FOUR trophies next campaign. Instead of instilling the fans with hope, and daring them to dream that the team will compete for major honours this season, Maresca instead pleaded for the fans to get behind the team. 6 Chelsea Women's showed off their successes from last term Credit: Getty 6 The players did not look overly enthused by the celebrations Credit: Getty He said: 'The message from me is quite clear. The players need the fans, so it's important that they're always behind them. This is my main message.' This comes against a backdrop of Maresca last season asking for a more energetic and encouraging atmosphere at home games for the Blues - something that he feels is essential in the team's quest for Champions League and Premier League glory. Perhaps we're old fashioned, but a traditional trophy parade might be a better idea the next time this team do pick up silverware.

It remains unclear whether the hi-tech video equipment has just been mislaid and will come to light once all staff have returned from holiday. But the incident is suspicious enough for the club to have involved the police. Top football clubs like the world champion Blues make extensive use of video footage from training and matches to help players' physical, technical, tactical and mental performance. Chelsea declined to comment about the timing and circumstances of the discovery that the equipment was not where it should be. Son Heung-min completes move to Los Angeles from Tottenham in MLS record deal

It was revealed on Saturday that Son would depart Spurs following 173 goals in 454 appearances and months after he captained the club to Europa League glory. After an agreement between Tottenham and LAFC was struck for a deal in excess of £20million, the 33-year-old arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday and a day later he has finalised his transfer, which is the highest fee paid by an MLS club for a player. In a post to Spurs fans on Instagram, Son, who has signed an initial two-year deal with LAFC with options for a further two, wrote: 'How to find the right words for this? I don't know. I have been thinking for days. It's impossible. But here I go. 'It's time for me to say goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur. My home for the past decade. When I arrived in 2015, I didn't speak English, I didn't know London, but you welcomed me with open arms, believed in me, and stood by me through every high and low. 'I was just a boy from Korea with big dreams who was supposed to have no chance. And now, 10 years later, North London is in my heart forever. Dear Spurs fans… Sonny's letter to you 🤍 — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 6, 2025 'I've made friends for life here, had the honour of becoming a godfather here, and had the privilege of captaining our special club here. I've poured my heart and soul into this club, which makes this the hardest decision ever. 'I thought if I was ever going to leave, it would have to be on my terms, on the best terms, when our mission had been accomplished together. With pride and honour.' Son joined Spurs in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen. After a tough debut campaign the South Korea captain went on to become one of the club's best ever players and made himself a Premier League great in the process. Alongside old partner in crime Harry Kane, Son holds the record for the most goal involvements by a duo in the Premier League, with the pair assisting each other on a record 47 occasions in the competition. The Chuncheon-born attacker also won the league's Golden Boot award in the 2021-22 season after scoring 23 times and he sits 17th in the list of all-time scorers in the division with 127 goals. Under former boss Mauricio Pochettino, Son's consistent displays helped turn Tottenham into genuine title contenders but silverware continued to allude them after a second-placed finish in 2017 was followed by a Champions League runner-up spot two years later. Whilst various members of Pochettino's team left not long after the Argentinian's winter departure in 2019, Son stayed to work under Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte before he was tasked with leading a new era by Ange Postecoglou. Son Enjoyed a formidable partnership with Harry Kane (Andrew Matthews/PA) Postecoglou named Son as his captain in the wake of Kane's high-profile switch to Bayern Munich and Hugo Lloris' departure from the first team and after a roller coaster two seasons under the Australian, they achieved the holy grail together on May 21. Son was consigned to a place on the bench in Bilbao for the Europa League final against Manchester United following an injury-affected campaign, but was introduced to make his final competitive appearance for Spurs to help them win 1-0 and end a 17-year wait for silverware. It etched Son's name into the history books as he became only the fourth captain in Spurs' history to lift a European trophy after Danny Blanchflower, Alan Mullery and Steve Perryman. The popular South Korean will renew acquaintances with Lloris and move to Los Angeles, which boasts one of the largest Korean populations in the world, ahead of next summer's World Cup in the United States.
