Joe Ryan throws 6 2/3 innings in Twins' 4-1 victory over the Yankees
Ryan (12-5) allowed only a homer to Cody Bellinger in the game that was delayed at the start for 1 hour, 52, minutes because of rain.
The right-hander struck out seven, walked two and threw his hardest pitch of the season when he struck out Aaron Judge on a 97.7 mph fastball in the first. After Bellinger homered, Ryan struck out the next four hitters and allowed two baserunners the rest of the way.
Kody Clemens hit a two-run double and Royce Lewis added an RBI double in Minnesota's three-run sixth off Yerry De Los Santos (0-1) and Mark Leiter Jr.
Rookie Luke Keaschall had an RBI groundout as the Twins beat the Yankees for the first time since April 26, 2023.
Minnesota ended its skid to New York after executive chair Joe Pohlad announced his family will remain the principal owner and add two new investment groups instead.
Kody Funderburk struck out Austin Wells to end the seventh, and Justin Topa had a six-out save to finish the five-hitter.
New York rookie Cam Schlitter allowed one run and three hits in 5 1/3 innings. The hard-throwing righty retired the first nine hitters until Trevor Larnach walked ahead of a double by Byron Buxton.

The win was Milwaukee's 13th straight as the Brewers matched their franchise-best run set in 1987. The stunning comeback was Milwaukee's 28th win in 32 games, increasing the best record in the majors to 77-44. Milwaukee has outscored its opponents 36-13 in the past three games, scoring in double figures each time. The Reds appeared on their way to a rout when they had nine straight batters reach with one out in the second inning en route to an 8-1 lead. From that point, the Brewers' bullpen retired the final 23 batters. Milwaukee right-hander Jacob Misiorowski struggled in his return from a stint on the 15-day injured list caused by a lower left leg contusion. Elly De La Cruz doubled and drove in two runs for the Reds, and Gavin Lux added two hits and two RBIs. Pirates 3, Cubs 2 Jack Suwinski played the hero in his hometown as his ninth-inning home run lifted visiting Pittsburgh to a victory over Chicago. Athletics hit three home runs in 10-3 win over Angels
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Colby Thomas, Shea Langeliers and Nick Kurtz homered, rookie Jack Perkins had seven strikeouts in five solid innings and the Athletics beat the Los Angeles Angeles 10-3 on Friday night. The Athletics snapped an eight-game losing streak, which included seven this season, against the Angels. Thomas and Kurtz each had three hits and drove in three runs. Thomas, a 24-year-old rookie, hit a three-run homer in the third inning and Kurtz hit a three-run shot that capped the scoring in the eighth. Perkins (2-2) made his third career start and allowed three runs on five hits with three walks. He allowed three runs on three hits in six innings to beat Orioles 11-3 for first win as a starter his last time out. Langeliers hit solo homer off Angels starter Yusei Kikuchi (6-8) and added an RBI single. Kikuchi gave up five hits and four runs in four innings. Travis d'Arnaud doubled to drive in Yoán Moncada in the second for the Angels. Zach Neto homered after Bryce Teodosio walked on four pitches to lead off the fifth to trim their deficit to 4-3.
