Andhra CM seeks AI Singapore's cooperation to establish innovation centres

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday sought cooperation from AI Singapore to set up artificial intelligence research and innovation centres in the state.As part of an endeavour to develop the southern state as an emerging AI hub, the chief minister met professor Mohan Kankanahalli, deputy executive chairman, AI Singapore."Naidu, committed to developing Andhra Pradesh as an emerging Artificial Intelligence hub, continued focused efforts during his third day in Singapore. On Tuesday, he met with Prof. Mohan Kankanahalli seeking their cooperation to set up AI research and innovation centers in the state," said an official release.Stressing the importance of prioritising partnerships between AI Singapore and universities and research institutions in Andhra Pradesh, Naidu proposed launching AI training programmes , exchange initiatives and skill development modules for students across the state.Deliberations chiefly revolved around the use of AI in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and public services.The CM and Kankanahalli explored opportunities in technology promotion, deep tech, and AI innovation, the release said.Further, the TDP supremo also met with NG Lin Wilin, senior vice president of SIA Engineering to deliberate on the upcoming airports in the state and sought cooperation for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services.Naidu briefed the SIA representatives on the TDP-led NDA government's newly introduced industry-friendly policies while showcasing the wide-ranging opportunities in the aviation sector.He invited the company to visit Andhra Pradesh to explore potential investments.Responding positively, Wilin assured that a delegation would be sent to the state soon, the release said.The Andhra Pradesh government is keen to establish a world-class MRO centre by leveraging the expertise and technology of companies such as SIA Engineering. Visakhapatnam and Krishnapatnam have been identified as suitable locations for this initiative, the release added.

New Delhi: In a heated session of the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, the Congress party and other INDIA bloc members staged a dramatic walkout, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's presence in the House to respond to questions related to Operation Sindoor after the discussion. The protest unfolded just as Union Home Minister Amit Shah began replying to the Opposition's concerns. Despite HM Shah's assurance that he would address every question raised, Opposition MPs shouted slogans such as 'PM ko bulao (Call the Prime Minister)', stalling the session and refusing to engage in the Minister's detailed response. "You have to deal with me first. Why do you want to call the PM? You will have more difficulty," HM Shah responded, directly taking on the protesting MPs. Emphasising that Prime Minister Modi was 'very much in office", HM Shah questioned the insistence on his presence: 'If I can respond and clarify, then why insist on hearing from him?' As tensions escalated, Leader of Opposition in the Upper House Mallikarjun Kharge stood up, reiterating the demand. 'The questions pertain to PM Modi. I'm not saying you (Shah) are not capable of answering. But if PM Modi, being in Delhi, does not come here, this is disrespect of the Rajya Sabha,' Kharge said before walking out, followed by all Opposition MPs. However, HM Amit Shah continued his address, calling out what he termed the Opposition's double standards and lack of political will to discuss the facts. He pointed out that the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) had already decided that the government would respond to the Operation Sindoor debate and left it to the government to decide who would speak. 'It was decided that the discussion will happen for as long as the Opposition wanted, but the response would be given as per the government's decision. You agreed to the debate, now you walk out because you don't want to hear the truth,' HM Shah said. In a sharp attack on the Congress party, Shah alleged that the walkout was not about parliamentary protocol, but a strategy to avoid being held accountable for years of 'appeasement politics' that, according to him, weakened India's war on terror. Shah reiterated what he had said in the Lok Sabha a day earlier — that Congress-led governments had diluted anti-terror laws for vote-bank politics, jeopardising national security in the process. 'This is the same party that sought proof of surgical strikes and airstrikes. And now, they are unwilling to even sit through a discussion on Operation Sindoor, which was a powerful response to terrorism,' HM Shah said. Despite the walkout, the Union Home Minister continued detailing the operational success and strategic clarity behind Operation Sindoor, underscoring India's resolve to neutralise terror at its roots — even if it meant taking the battle across the border.

A.P. teacher unions call for State-wide protest against ‘neglect' of their issues on August 2
Leaders of the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Teachers' Organisations (FAPTO) have decided to stage state-wide protests on August 2, seeking immediate solutions to the issues faced by teachers in the State. The decision to stage the protests at Collectorates across the State was taken at a meeting held in the federation's office in Kurnool on Wednesday (July 30). State general secretary of Andhra Pradesh Primary Teachers Association (APTA) and State co-chairman of federation K. Prakash Rao said that even after a year of the TDP-led coalition government assuming power in the State, no significant step was taken to resolve the issue of pending payments to employees and teachers. He said the teachers who were recently promoted or transferred had not received salaries for past two months and despite repeated appeals, the authorities remained indifferent. He urged teachers across the State to participate in the protests in large numbers. State president of Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF-1938) and State committee member of FAPTO G. Hrudayaraju said teachers were being burdened with non-teaching activities, leaving them with little time for classroom teaching. He said the authorities should prioritise and respect the teaching time. He also demanded that the government immediately release the pending arrears, formulate the 12th Pay Revision Commission and announce Interim Relief. FAPTO chairman for Kurnool district Seva Lal Naik, secretary general G. Bhaskar, United Teachers' Federation's Kurnool district president Ravi Kumar, general secretary Naveen Patil, State Teachers' Union's Kurnool district president Gokari, general secretary Janardhan and others were present at the meeting.
