Tiranga Yatra:Salute to Bharat Mata, freedom heroes and brave soldiers, says CM Yogi

Lucknow, Aug 13 (UNI) As India marks 78 years of Independence, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath has cautioned against forces attempting to fracture social unity through divisions based on
society, region, language or caste and urged that such elements be exposed.
Launching the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign from his official residence yesterday, he called upon every
home to proudly hoist the tricolor as a symbol of national pride and respect for soldiers.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal, the August 13–15 campaign, along with Tiranga
Yatras across villages, towns and districts, aim at spreading reverence for the Constitution, national symbols, freedom fighters and great leaders during Amrit Kaal, he remarked.
'From villages to towns and districts, Tiranga Yatras are setting an inspiring example. In Uttar Pradesh too, people are enthusiastically participating in 'Har Ghar Tiranga' and 'Selfie with Tiranga campaigns',' he said.
The Tricolor, Yogi added, stands as a symbol of the nation's pride and respect for its soldiers and should adorn every Indian household.
The Chief Minister led the Tiranga Yatra amid the tunes of patriotic songs and flagged off the march from his residence. Highlighting India's global standing the Chief Minister said, 'The world has witnessed India's courage, strength during Operation Sindoor. This recognition also places a responsibility on every Indian to uphold the nation's honour.'
He appealed to 140 crore citizens to rise above personal interests, dedicate themselves to the nation, hoist the Tricolor in every home and participate actively in the grand celebration of independence.
Referring to the ambitious goal of 'Viksit Bharat Atmanirbhar Bharat' by 2047 set by the Prime Minister, CM Yogi reaffirmed his commitment to making 'Viksit Uttar Pradesh Atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh' a guiding mantra for life.
Meanwhile, with the Tricolor in hand and chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Vande Mataram', CM Yogi marched alongside his cabinet colleagues and public representatives, leading the Tiranga Yatra through the
streets of Lucknow.
Before flagging off the march from his residence, he interacted with and took selfies with school children, NCC cadets, scout guides and enthusiastic youth.

Farmers' forum protest against Trump, seeks ban on corporates in agriculture

Farmers, tenant farmers, agricultural labourers, workers, and public associations under the NTR District Farmers, Tenants Workers, Agricultural Labourers, People's United Forum staged a dharna at Dharna Chowk, Vijayawada, on Wednesday, burning an effigy of U.S. President Donald Trump. They demanded that corporates be kept out of agriculture, the immediate withdrawal of Trump's 50% tariffs on Indian exports, scrapping of free trade agreements (FTAs), and repeal of the four labour codes. Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sabha national general secretary Ravula Venkayya termed the tariff move — reportedly in retaliation for India importing Russian crude — 'arrogant' and sought a parliamentary debate on all FTAs. Marking the 83rd Quit India Movement anniversary, protesters raised slogans such as 'Multinational Corporations Quit India' and 'Big Corporates Quit Agriculture.' Former Agriculture Minister Vadde Shobhanadreeswara Rao warned that the proposed National Agriculture Market law would end MSP and procurement. Senior leader Y. Keshavarao criticised subsidy cuts, higher fertiliser prices, and reduced price stabilisation funds. Tenant farmers' leader P. Jamalaih opposed FTA clauses enabling dairy and poultry imports, while Congress Kisan Cell chief Kaman Prabhakar Rao opposed forced farmland acquisition. Other leaders, including D. Harinath, V. Krishnayya, and M. Venkata Reddy, called for regulation of subsidised agricultural imports. The dharna was chaired by Malnidi Yellamanda Rao and P.V. Anjaneyulu.

ISL limbo: AIFF calls for meeting between legal counsels of federation and clubs

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Wednesday asked the legal counsels of the game's apex body and the ISL clubs to 'hold discussions' on the teams' concerns about the uncertainty over the upcoming season of the top-tier league. Last week, 11 Indian Super League clubs had urged the AIFF to urgently bring the 'current situation' of Indian football, arising out of the uncertainty over ISL's future, to the attention of the Supreme Court before which a case relating to the constitution of the national federation is pending. The ISL clubs, in a letter, said that they will have no option but to seek judicial recourse independently if the AIFF does not act on their request. The national federation has now responded. 'The AIFF, on the evening of Friday, August 8, 2025, received a letter from 11 Indian Super League clubs, collectively requesting that the Supreme Court be apprised of the current uncertainty surrounding the ISL. 'On August 13, the AIFF responded and requested that the legal counsels of the clubs and the federation meet to hold discussions on the matter and decide on further action,' the AIFF tweeted. The clubs requested the AIFF to approach the top court a day after the national federation proposed the Super Cup in September to ensure sufficient competitive matches for the clubs after ISL organisers FSDL put a 'pause' on the league due to uncertainty over the renewal of Master Rights Agreement (MRA) it signed with them in 2010. Following the July 11 decision of ISL organisers FSDL to put the 2025-26 season 'on hold' due to the uncertainty surrounding the renewal of the MRA, three clubs have either paused first-team operations or suspended salaries of first-team players and staff.

India achieves 100 GW solar PV module capacity under ALMM: MNRE

India's empanelled solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing capacity under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) has touched 100 gigawatts (GW), the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) said on Wednesday. The 100 GW solar module capacity developed is fully listed under the government's ALMM, which specifies the solar PV modules and manufacturers eligible for use in government and government-assisted solar projects. It ensures that only quality-assured and compliant modules are used, thereby promoting reliability and performance in the country's solar energy sector. The ALMM order was issued by the MNRE in January 2019, and the first list of approved solar PV modules was published in March 2021 with an initial empanelled capacity of around 8.2 GW. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), described the development as 'yet another milestone towards self-reliance.' He said, 'It depicts the success of India's manufacturing capabilities and our efforts towards popularising clean energy.' Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi echoed the sentiment on the same platform, highlighting the growth in solar PV manufacturing capacity from just 2.3 GW in 2014 to 100 GW in 2025. He added that India is building a robust, self-reliant solar manufacturing ecosystem, supported by transformative initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for high-efficiency solar modules. "This achievement strengthens our path towards Atmanirbhar Bharat and the target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030," Joshi said. The MNRE said the milestone reflects not just the depth of capacity achieved, but also the breadth of participation in the sector. The number of manufacturers listed under ALMM has increased significantly from 21 in 2021 to 100 currently, who are operating 123 manufacturing units across the country. This growth includes contributions from both established companies and new entrants, many of whom have adopted high-efficiency technologies and vertically integrated operations. The result, the ministry said, is a diverse and competitive manufacturing landscape capable of fulfilling domestic demand and serving global markets. India achieving 100 GW of solar PV module manufacturing capacity is a significant step towards building a diversified solar supply chain, said Rishabh Jain, Senior Programme Lead at the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW). "However, this is currently four times India's annual deployment of solar power. To ensure the continuous growth of the sector, Indian manufacturers should actively supply to new markets and reduce their dependency on the US. Simultaneously, Indian manufacturers should double down on R&D to competitively manufacture next-generation materials and components in India,' Jain said.
