TD Cowen sees slower data center equipment purchasing as negative for Vertiv
TD Cowen analysts led by Michael Elias tell investors that the firm's channel checks at Nvidia's (NVDA) GTC event and DCD Connect indicate aggregate data center demand has increased year-over-year, despite more pervasive lease cancellations and deferrals by Microsoft (MSFT) than initially thought. The pullback from Microsoft has created an opportunity for both Google (GOOGL) and Meta (META) to backfill capacity, the firm says. Hyperscale redesigns for higher densities are driving slower DC equipment purchasing, which the firm views negatively for first half orders for Vertiv (VRT), TD added.

Millions of PS5 Players Can't Buy or Play Gears of War: Reloaded
version won't be available to millions of console owners this August, it has emerged. Microsoft has confirmed that the game will not launch in Japan due to 'regional and platform' restrictions. However, it will be available on PC and Xbox Series X|S in the region. Gears of War: Reloaded PS5's Japan release plans has left players puzzled. Initially, it was assumed that the game was simply denied rating by the country's strict rating board, CERO. But things got confusing when it emerged that Gears of War: Reloaded will release on PC and Xbox in Japan. So, what exactly happened here and what 'platform' restrictions is Microsoft talking about? Automaton Media has the answer. For games to release in Japan, they must either be rated by CERO or an international body called IARC (International Age Rating Coalition). On their platforms in Japan, Microsoft and Nintendo allow games that are refused classification by CERO but approved by IARC. Sony, on the other hand, still requires publishers to have CERO's seal of approval for mature games (18+) to be sold on the PS Store in Japan. And since Gears of War: Reloaded has not been approved by CERO, it'll be skipping PS5 in the country. Other platforms are content with the IARC rating, so the launch will go ahead as planned. Automaton Media suggests that Sony currently doesn't have any plans to change its policies in Japan. NVIDIA—the poster child of the AI revolution—rebounded strongly from its recent DeepSeek and tariff-driven sell-off. What makes Dan so excited about its future? Apple AAPL, meanwhile, appears to have fallen behind in the AI race. Its Worldwide Developers Conference this week failed to impress investors. Tesla shares have rebounded after plunging last week following a public spat between Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Microsoft Installs Emergency Update On Windows PCs
Emergency update is now being installed. Another month, another emergency update for Windows users. After issuing several out-of-band updates to address update fails in May (1,2), here we are again in June. Only now, 'this OOB update downloads and installs automatically,' Microsoft says. Per Windows Latest which was first to report the initial problem and the response, this follows the June update failing to install on some PCs, primarily those with Easy Anti Cheat gaming software. 'As we suspected, something seemed odd with Windows 11 24H2 KB5060842 when Microsoft had paused the rollout briefly.' That interlude allowed a patch to be applied to the standard update, but this didn't work. Instead Microsoft withheld the update from affected PCs, which will now receive the emergency update instead. 'Windows users likely didn't experience this issue,' the Windows-maker says, because the standard update was not offered to at-risk PCs. According to Windows Latest, users had reported that 'the update showed up, but kept failing with the message: 'Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712)'.' Microsoft then confirmed 'compatibility issues' and applied a fix. But when the fix also failed, 'Microsoft made the final call to yank the buggy patch (KB5060842) because it wouldn't install, and replace it with [the new emergency update] KB5063060.' It's now clear this 'major issue' with June's Patch Tuesday 'causes PCs to reboot unexpectedly when launching games using Easy Anti-Cheat, such as Fortnite.' The emergency replacement for the Patch Tuesday update includes all cumulative fixes as well as the compatibility workaround. Microsoft says the OOB update 'downloads and installs automatically from Windows Update and Microsoft Update on devices with Easy Anti-Cheat installed and on devices that have not installed KB506842 yet.'
