Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha explained real reason for Benjamin Sesko's Man Utd decision

Manchester United completed the signing of Benjamin Sekso, and fellow new recruits Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha understand the striker's reason for joining the club Manchester United's new signings prove that joining the club remains a dream move due to the Red Devils' legacy. Ruben Amorim's side have brought in three highly-rated forwards this summer, despite the prospect of a year without European football. ‌ United may have been concerned about their remaining pulling power in the transfer market after finishing 15th in the Premier League and losing the Europa League final last season. It was not the ideal sales pitch to convince top players to join Amorim's squad, combined with the financial implications of missing out on a Champions League spot to Tottenham Hotspur. ‌ However, in their latest transfer coup, the Red Devils beat Newcastle United to the signing of striker Benjamin Sesko. Fellow new arrivals Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who was also wanted by the Magpies, have already explained why the trio had their hearts set on heading to Old Trafford. ‌ Upon becoming United's first summer signing, Cunha said: 'It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player. Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother's house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt. I want to thank my family and everyone who has helped me make that dream a reality. Echoing Cunha's message, Mbeumo explained that he was a boyhood United fan, demonstrating the club's lasting appeal: 'As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up.' Sir Alex Ferguson may have retired more than a decade ago but the club's glory days live long in the memory, even for 22-year-old Sesko. "The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future,' the striker said. 'When we discussed the project, it was clear that everything is in place for this team to continue to grow and compete for the biggest trophies again soon.' United's ability to secure deals for their top targets is in stark contrast to what Newcastle have endured this summer. Several forwards, including Mbeumo and Sesko, have chosen other clubs over Eddie Howe's side, despite the club winning a trophy and qualifying for the Champions League last term. Their struggles to sign a striker have also added another layer to Alexander Isak's transfer saga. Meanwhile, United boss Amorim will be happy to have assembled his new-look forward line. The Red Devils were in urgent need of a centre-forward, following Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee's struggles up front, and Amorim believes Sesko is the right man to lead the line. ‌ "He has the characteristics that we needed," Amorim told MUTV. "Ben is a player - with all the information that we have - that we need to stop the guy from working, not the opposite! "So that is also important. He's really young. He's good in the air, he's good at running the channels, good on the ball. I think he has great potential. I think he can improve a lot and, for sure, he is going to feel at home in our club. He has the right character to be in this group, so I'm really happy to have him." ‌ However, United have not finished their summer rebuild. Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, who is valued at around £100m, has emerged as the club's next target as United look to fix another area of the team. The Red Devils welcomed club icon David De Gea back to Old Trafford during their final pre-season fixture on Saturday. United drew 1-1 with Fiorentina as Amorim continued his team's preparations ahead of their season opener against Arsenal next Sunday.

Marko Lazetic to Aberdeen fee and deal structure revealed as Milan transfer enters final stage

The striker is set to become Jimmy Thelin's latest summer recruit Aberdeen have agreed a bargain deal that will see them land Marko Lazetic on a free and for just a 20 per cent sell-on. ‌ Record Sport broke the story that the Scottish Cup winners had agreed a deal with AC Milan for their Serbian under-21 international. ‌ The Italian giants had initially wanted a 50 per cent and that had been a sticking point over the last couple of weeks. ‌ AC Milan had been holding out for the enhanced sell-on to try and recoup as much of the £3.5million they had paid Red Star back in 2022. Reports in Italy last night claimed that it was a 50 per cent sell-on but they are well wide of the mark. The Dons stood firm because it didn't fall into their player trading model. They have seen it in the past when they gave Benfica a 50 per cent sell-on for Duk. Aberdeen were helped by the fact that Lazetic made it clear that he wanted to make the move to Pittodrie. They are now in the process of finalising the move. ‌ Lazetic will sign a long-term deal subject to a medical and a visa being issued. The Dons are pushing to get everything in place for the 21-year-old to be registered ahead of their Europa League play-off, where they will face the winners of FCSB and Drita. ‌ Manager Jimmy Thelin is still looking to add another three signings, on top of Lazetic, before the close of the window. Etienne Youte breaks cover as Celtic issued Jakob Breum red flag before key transfer deadline

Brendan Rodgers is in dire need of recruits with the season well under way for the Scottish champions Le Havre defender Etienne Youte has thrown open the door to Celtic as he admitted he is awaiting the right club for his next move. ‌ Reports in France suggest the Scottish Premiership champions have joined Anderlecht and Besiktas in the race to land the 23-year-old. ‌ Youte only has a year remaining on his contract and the Ligue 1 outfit would reportedly accept a €5million (£4.3million) fee this summer. ‌ But the centre-back has yet to receive an offer with boss Brendan Rodgers conceding ahead of the clash with Aberdeen that no new arrivals were imminent. Speaking to Paris Normadie, Youte admitted: "I know now that I have to be patient before making a decision. For the moment, I'm here and I feel good within this group. I'm preparing for the season. "If there are interesting offers for me and for the club, we will find an agreement together." Celtic are also looking to add more firepower up front after Rodgers' demands - with forward Jakob Breum on the agenda after having multiple bids knocked back by the Dutch club. Go Ahead Eagles chief Jan Willem van Dop even aimed a brutal swipe at the Hoops as he told them to conduct themselves more like Rangers after a deal for Oliver Antman was concluded quickly - but a transfer could still be alive. The Dane missed his club's draw with Fortuna Sittard, but boss Melvin Boel insisted it was not to do with an imminent exit - and explained the absence was due to injury. ‌ He said: "It doesn't look bad, but the match in Sittard comes too soon. I'm hopeful he'll be back next week." And former Denmark international Kenneth Perez had a warning for the Hoops - insisting Breum may not be ready to step up a level. The former PSV and Ajax star told ESPN: "He's good for the Dutch league, where you can indeed play like that. A bit of beauty between the lines, being clever, and so on. ‌ "He's a good footballer, but when you see what a player needs to have to play at a higher level now... That's different." It comes with the first leg of the Champions League qualifier fast approaching - with Johan Mjallby insisting Celtic must find the attacking additions that Rodgers' requires before the clash on August 20. ‌ He told the Sunday Post: *Of course, supporters want to see some new signings and Brendan has made his feelings clear. "They will want business done in the coming week to have the signings eligible for the Champions League play-off game. That will be so important to win that tie. Having done so well last season in Europe, it's natural to want to kick on and grow. "I covered a few of Celtic's Champions League games last season and they really came of age. "The supporters now expect that level of performance every tie in Europe. So, it's understandable to want to add extra quality to the squad. It will never guarantee anything but it certainly gives you a better chance of being successful. "Kieran Tierney's arrival back at the club is great business. He'll add his experience at European level and will be really helpful to the team. "Callum McGregor controls the midfield area and that sort of thing takes care of itself. But Brendan feels the team needs help in the final third and you want to have as much creativity as possible in the team."
