Selangor Sultan Urges Muslims To Reflect, Renew Resolve In Maal Hijrah Message
SHAH ALAM, June 26 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has called on Muslims to use the new Hijrah year as an opportunity to renew their resolve to become better Muslims who embody compassion and embrace the true meaning of ukhwah (brotherhood) and love for one another.
In a royal message posted on the Selangor Royal Office's Facebook page, His Royal Highness reminded that amid the trials and turbulence of today's world, the people must refrain from quarreling simply due to differing views or preferences.
'Islam teaches us that the strength of the ummah lies in unity, not division. Do not let hatred and resentment destroy the harmony we have built together.

Johor Expected To Be First State To Extend Use Of eCOSS System
ISKANDAR PUTERI, June 27 (Bernama) -- Johor is expected to be the first state to extend the use of the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme (eCOSS) to the end user level, allowing every transaction involving subsidised packet cooking oil to be recorded digitally to curb leakages. Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the phased implementation of the scheme is intended to ensure the system's stability and public acceptance before it is rolled out statewide. 'We need to pilot the eCOSS system at the consumer level first. Johor is expected to be the first state to implement it following test runs conducted through the Jualan Rahmah programme over the past three to four months,' he said. Armizan explained that consumers would be required to download the eCOSS application and scan a QR code each time they purchase a packet cooking oil. For now, the policy remains that only Malaysian citizens are allowed to buy subsidised cooking oil, he told a press conference after opening the southern zone 'Jelajah Karnival KPDN 2025' and the launch of the Buy Malaysian Goods Campaign (KBBM) at the Puteri Harbour Convention centre here today. He said the move to extend the use of eCOSS is not aimed at reducing cooking oil subsidies, but rather as a transparent and targeted control mechanism. 'The subsidy is not reduced. But through this system, we have clear records - the number of boxes retailers received, who bought them, and how many were sold. However, we will not rush (into implementing it in Johor). 'Our focus is to ensure the system is truly stable and accepted by the people before it is expanded comprehensively,' he said. According to him, the current system only records distribution from the repackers to retailers.

Former Johor mufti Nooh Gadot named Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1447h
KUALA LUMPUR, June 27 — Former Johor Mufti Datuk Nooh Gadot has been named the recipient of the National Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1447H/2025M award. His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, presented the award, which includes a cash prize, a trophy and a certificate of appreciation, to the prominent Islamic scholar at the national-level Maal Hijrah Celebration held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre here today. Nooh, 79, was born in Kampung Tekam, Pogoh in Segamat and currently serves as Adviser to the Johor Islamic Religious Council. He served as Johor Mufti from 1999 to 2002 and was appointed in 2008 as the Religious Adviser to the then Sultan of Johor, the late Sultan Iskandar Sultan Ismail. A holder of a PhD in Human Development from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Nooh has received several accolades, including the Johor Tokoh Maal Hijrah 2009 award and the National Tokoh Maal Hijrah 1434H/2013M award. Speaking to reporters after the event, Nooh expressed his gratitude for the honour. 'May this recognition motivate me to continue serving the ummah and upholding the syiar of Islam,' he said. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia Minister of Haj and Umrah, Tawfig Fawzan Muhammed Al-Rabiah, 60, was named the recipient of the International Tokoh Maal Hijrah award. He also received a cash prize, a trophy and a certificate. Tawfig has played a pivotal role in modernising pilgrimage services through digital initiatives and international cooperation, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 agenda. He is also recognised as a reformist in the transformation of Saudi Arabia's health and industrial sectors. A respected scholar, he has authored over 16 research papers in international journals and co-authored a book on high-speed networking, among others. Accompanying His Majesty to the event was Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar. Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar and Cabinet ministers.
