Rod Stewart postpones Las Vegas show citing health issues
Singer Rod Stewart called in sick four hours before his show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. "I'm sorry to inform you that I'm not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10," the 80-year-old rock legend said in a post to his Instagram Story. "Your tickets will be valid for the new date." The venue, Caesars, also confirmed the postponement of the show scheduled. According to Deadline, billed as The Encore Shows, the series follows 200 performances in the Grammy winner's 13-year residency after he decided he didn't want to stop playing Caesars. The current Encore run lasts through October 4. In 2023, Stewart cancelled an Australian tour date six hours before the show, citing a viral infection that irritated his throat. Last year, the singer also cancelled his concerts due to Covid-19. Ticket holders were informed to "hold on to their tickets as they will be honoured for the rescheduled shows. "Rod's illness followed the singer missing the 200th show of his long-running Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace on when he cited strep throat as the reason for his absence. At the time, he noted on Instagram, "Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me. I'm absolutely gutted. I've been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused." Rod is best known for singing memorable tracks such as I Don't Want To Talk About It, Downtown Train and You're In My Heart, among others.

Leon Thomas is ready for the moment with new album
Leon Thomas is such a believer of speaking dreams into existence that the artist-producer has been patiently awaiting — yet expecting — his current moment of musical appreciation. 'I feel like this is like a 20-year-long, overnight success, and I'm really enjoying just the process. I feel ready for the moment,' said the alternative R&B artist, who's released his 'MUTT Deluxe: HEEL' album on Friday. 'Not to get too spiritual, but I feel like the steps I'm on are ordered, and it's just my time to show the world what I can do.' After winning a Grammy last year as co-producer on SZA's song 'Snooze,'' Thomas is now experiencing his own solo success. The single 'MUTT,' from his 2024 critically acclaimed sophomore album of the same name, reached No. 1 on multiple Billboard charts, including Hot R&B Songs, Adult R&B airplay and R&B Streaming Songs. It also peaked at No. 13 on Billboard's Hot 100, boosted by a recent Chris Brown-remix that will appear on the deluxe. Once known for his role on the Nickelodeon series 'Victorious' of the 2010s, the R&B-rock-funk artist recruited heavyweight features for 'HEEL,' including Big Sean, Kehlani and Halle Bailey. Nine new songs were added, both originals and remixes. 'It's God's plan ... Coming from the world of acting, I'd had my fair share of fame and taste of what the high life felt like. But starting off with my debut album, really having to grind and play really small rooms and build from scratch was such a humbling experience,' said Thomas of 'Electric Dusk' which dropped in 2023. 'That really built me, and I wouldn't trade that experience for the world.' I was able to watch everybody's climb to the top ... and it was good to be a fly on the wall to a lot of my friends' greatness before I had an opportunity to climb the mountain myself. How did your 'Rather Be Alone' collaboration with Halle Bailey come together? It was very organic ... I played her the record and she really resonated with it, and I feel like you should write your life, and you should find ways to use your experience as the paint on the canvas. And I think both of us were going through pretty crazy breakups. So, I think it was important to lead with that song because it's like the truest record right now on the project. It seems like this era of R&B doesn't embrace vulnerability like in earlier decades. Why where you both so transparent? It's a generation of filters. But I think some of the craziest and most viral moments are without any of the bells and whistles. And that's the whole Catch-22. It's like there's lots of technological advancements, but I think things that are real, that really like celebrate the human experience, will always be celebrated. Do you ever reminisce with Adriana Grande about your time as 'Victorious' castmates? We finished our last two years of high school together in a small classroom with one teacher and spent many ... weekends hanging out and watching movies and kicking it. That's really my friend, and I'm so proud of her. ... There's so much growth that happened, and I am very protective over her and she's the same about me. Alexandra Loewy joins Miramax as President of Film
Loewy will work directly with Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman. Miramax has appointed veteran film executive Alexandra Loewy as President of Film, marking her return to the studio where she began her career over two decades ago. Starting out as an assistant in Miramax's New York office, Loewy will now assume a top leadership role at the company, officially stepping into the position on May 27. She will be based in Los Angeles and report directly to Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman, according to a report by Deadline. Glickman praised Loewy's appointment, highlighting her distinctive ability to identify standout projects and nurture emerging talent. 'Ali has a rare talent for spotting clutter-busting ideas and breakout filmmakers, pairing sharp creative instincts with real commercial firepower,' he said. 'She's exactly the kind of leader we need to take Miramax's legacy into its next chapter.' Her appointment follows the March hiring of Alix Jaffe, formerly of Village Roadshow, as Miramax's Television President, signaling a broader leadership restructuring at the studio. Prior to joining Miramax, Loewy served for over six years as President of Working Title Films, where she managed the company's Los Angeles office. During her tenure, she was executive producer of Coralie Fargeat's Oscar-nominated The Substance, as well as Nisha Ganatra's The High Note. She also oversaw production on Genie, a Peacock original film directed by Sam Boyd and written by Richard Curtis, featuring Melissa McCarthy and Paapa Essiedu. Earlier in her career, Loewy held the role of Senior Vice President of Production & Development at di Bonaventura Pictures. There, she supervised production on the global box office hit The Meg, which grossed over $529m worldwide and led to a sequel. She also developed the action thriller Plane for Lionsgate, starring Gerard Butler. Additional leadership roles included a tenure as Senior Vice President at Global Produce and previous work at Red Wagon, where she played a key role in discovering and developing Veronica Roth's Divergent series before it became a bestselling franchise.
