Rajasthan's Sachin Kumar Bairwa becomes first CA from Devpura, scores 324 on 2nd attempt; vows to repay father's sacrifices by buying back sold land
Success Story: In the small village of Devpura, Bundi district, Rajasthan, Sachin Kumar Bairwa has become a beacon of inspiration by becoming the first person from his village to pass the Chartered Accountant (CA) exam at the age of 25.
Land Sold For Education
This remarkable achievement was made possible by his father, Hiralal Bairwa, who sold three bighas of ancestral land to fund Sachin's education, a bold step when the CA course was little known in their community. Encouraged by his teachers, Sachin's journey began at the local government school, and later continued in the nearby village of Talwas.
In 2014, Sachin relocated to Bundi, Rajasthan, where he met his tutor, Manish Agarwal. Under his mentorship, Sachin's career took a decisive turn as he was inspired to pursue commerce and set his sights on becoming a Chartered Accountant.
Rigorous Preparation In Indore And Jaipur
Sachin began his preparation for the Common Proficiency Test (CPT), one of India's most challenging exams. At Manish Agarwal's recommendation, he moved to Indore in Madhya Pradesh, dedicating two years to studying for the first group of the CA exam, which he cleared on his second attempt in November 2018.
Thereafter, he completed a three-year articleship in Jaipur while continuing to prepare for the final exam.
Patwari, given his reserved category status. However, he remained resolute in his ambition to become a CA and worked tirelessly towards that goal.
Aim To Repurchase Twice The Land Sold By Father
Moved by his success, Sachin shared his heartfelt goal of buying back twice the amount of land his father sold to fund his education. This aspiration symbolises both a dream and a tribute to his father's sacrifices.
Hiralal, his father, notes that villagers still ask if Sachin will take a government job despite his CA qualification. While awareness of the CA profession remains limited in the village, Sachin's success is gradually changing attitudes and setting a new precedent.

SBI Shares In Focus After Massive Rs 25,000 Crore QIP; LIC Among Major Investors

Last Updated: SBI share price will be in focus on Tuesday after the state-run lender raised Rs 25,000 crore through QIP SBI Share Price Today: SBI share price will be in focus on Tuesday after the state-run lender raised Rs 25,000 crore through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) to support business expansion. The Committee of Directors of State Bank of India (SBI), in its meeting held on Monday, approved the closure of the QIP issue after receiving application forms and funds in the escrow account from eligible Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs), according to a regulatory filing. As per the filing, SBI approved the allocation of 30,59,97,552 equity shares at an issue price of Rs 817 per share (face value of Re 1 and a premium of Rs 816 per share). The QIP was oversubscribed by 4.5 times, with foreign investors accounting for 64.3% of the total demand. SBI said that 88% of the final allocation went to marquee long-term investors, including 24% to foreign long-term players. The raised capital will help bolster SBI's Common Equity Tier-1 (CET-1) capital ratio, which is expected to rise from 10.81% (as of March 31) to 11.5%. This will support calibrated credit growth across retail, MSME, and corporate segments, the bank added. As a result, LIC's shareholding in SBI rose from 81,46,59,869 shares to 87,58,59,380 shares, translating to an increase from 9.21% to 9.49% of the bank's paid-up capital. Other key investors in the QIP included HDFC Life Insurance, Quant Mutual Fund, and Societe Generale. SBI Share Price Performance SBI share price has risen 3% over the past month and 9% over the last six months. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, the stock is up 4%, although it is down 7% over the past one year. However, over the long term, SBI has delivered strong returns — the stock has surged 324% in the past five years, delivering a multibagger performance. On Monday, SBI share price closed 0.11% higher at Rs 824.20 apiece on the BSE. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. India's IPO Market Among World's Most-Active: Report

India's IPO valuations remain elevated, with a price-to-earnings ratio of around 27x—on par with US markets India remains one of the most active IPO markets globally by number of listings. However, continues to trail the US and China in total capital raised, according to EY's latest Global IPO Trends report. In the first half of 2025, Indian markets saw 108 IPOs raise $4.6 billion—accounting for just 8% of global IPO proceeds, compared to 28% for the US and 34% for China. While fundraising dipped marginally by 2% year-on-year, the number of IPOs declined 30%, indicating a strategic shift toward fewer but higher-quality listings. The EY report notes that issuers are becoming more selective about timing and structure, while investors are prioritising companies with strong fundamentals and clear growth visibility. The subdued activity comes against a backdrop of global uncertainty, with many firms delaying IPO plans or revising valuations amid geopolitical and macroeconomic volatility. Despite the cautious tone, the second half of the year could witness a pickup, supported by a strong pipeline from sectors like technology, fintech, and healthcare. Several companies have already secured regulatory approvals and are on standby, awaiting more favourable market conditions. Globally, the IPO landscape has been mixed. The US recorded 109 IPOs—the highest first-half tally since the 2021 boom—but raised comparatively lower funds. China saw a 30% jump in deal activity, with proceeds tripling due to larger offerings and robust investor interest. EY outlines two divergent scenarios for the rest of 2025. In one, easing global headwinds could boost IPO momentum. In the other, persistent macroeconomic stress could keep both issuers and investors in wait-and-watch mode, slowing down activity and tempering valuations. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
