UP woman files police complaint against husband on losing 2 Instagram followers: ‘I was busy washing utensils'
A marital dispute over Instagram addiction spiralled into a police case in Uttar Pradesh when a miffed wife reached the cops claiming her husband's housework demands left her with no time to make Reels.
According to a report in News18, the wife – identified as one Nisha of Hapur district – left her husband after her Instagram follower count dropped. She told the police that her husband's insistence that she focus on household chores was linked to the drop in her follower count.
The incident revolves around Nisha and her husband Vijendra, a resident of Noida. Relations between the husband and wife had been tense because Vijendra had suggested that Nisha cut back on her social media activities and devote more time to domestic tasks.
This suggestion led to Nisha briefly limiting the time she spent on Instagram. However, when she noticed that she lost two followers, a furious Nisha packed her bags and left for her maternal home in Pilkhuwa, Hapur district.
There, she approached the Women's Police Station in Hapur and lodged a complaint against her husband.
'My followers declined as I was kept busy washing utensils and cleaning of the house by my husband. I didn't get time to make Reels,' Nisha told the police, according to a report in Deccan Herald.
She added that she used to post two Reels on Instagram daily.
In retaliation, the husband also filed a police complaint against Nisha, claiming that she was always busy on Instagram and neglected household work.
As per ABP News, Women's Police Station in-charge Aruna Rai listened to the two parties for about four hours. The two were counselled about the importance of marital harmony and family life.
The husband and wife both accepted their role in the fight and have now resolved to try and live peacefully

2 arrested for taking ₹24 lakh from youngster promising selection in IPL team
Belagavi police arrested two persons from Uttar Pradesh on the charge of defrauding a young cricketer from Belagavi. Susanjan and Diwakar, both around 25, were arrested from their hometown in Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. This followed a long and detailed investigation by the Belagavi police. They face charges of collecting over ₹24 lakh from the family of Rakesh Yadure of Chinchani near Chikkodi. They had lied to the young sportsperson's family that they would get him selected to the Rajasthan Royals IPL cricket team. The boy comes from a humble background. His father, a security guard, took loans to pay the conmen. Superintendent of Police Bheemashankar S. Guled told reporters in Belagavi on June 12 that Susanjan had previously cheated two others using a similar modus operandi, while Diwakar appeared to be a first-time offender. Mr. Yadure, 19, had excelled in a cricket match in Hyderabad in May 2024. He posted photos and videos of the match on Instagram. The fraudsters, claiming to be selectors from the IPL team, sent him friend requests, and said he was under consideration. In December 2024, Mr. Yadure received a message claiming he had been shortlisted for the IPL team. The message included a link to a 'registration form' and requested an initial payment of ₹2,000. Over the next few months — between December 22, 2024, and April 19, 2025 — Mr. Yadure's father made multiple payments totalling ₹23.53 lakh. The duo promised fees ranging from ₹40,000 to ₹8 lakh per match. The cricketer's family filed a complaint with the Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics (CEN) Police Station on May 17 this year. Dr. Guled advised people, especially the youth, to be cautious of such scams. 'We urge citizens, especially youngsters, not to fall for online claims of sports selection, jobs, or cash rewards. Always verify such claims,' he said.

Bathinda: Woman influencer's body found in abandoned car
The Bathinda police have formed multiple probe teams after the decomposed body of a Ludhiana-based digital content creator Kanchan Kumari, 30, popularly known as 'Kamal Kaur Bhabhi', was found inside a car at the parking lot of Adesh medical college and hospital in Bhucho town on Wednesday evening, the district police authorities said. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amneet Kondal said that a murder case had been registered against unknown persons. 'Teams of the cantonment police station and the crime investigation agency (CIA) are working under SP (city) Narinder Singh. We have got clues and hope to crack the case soon,' she added. Sources privy to the probe in the police department suspect the role of vigilante groups in the murder. Police officials said that they are investigating possible links to an earlier threat she had received from Canada-based designated terrorist Arsh Dalla, who had allegedly threatened the deceased to stop posting inappropriate videos. Locals in the Bhucho suburb informed police about a stench emanating from a car in the parking lot of Adesh hospital. Police rushed to the spot and found a woman dead on the rear seat of the car. Bathinda SP (City) Narinder Singh said police were scanning footage from CCTVs mounted in the vicinity. Investigators suspect the woman was murdered and later her body was dumped in the rear seat of the car. 'An autopsy was conducted at the Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh civil hospital on Thursday evening. The report is awaited,' the police official said. The social media influencer was known for uploading reels, including controversial double-entendre videos that went viral on social media platforms. Known by her online persona 'Kamal Kaur Bhabhi', Kanchan had over 16 lakh followers on different social media platforms. Her Facebook page has 7.76 lakh followers while her two YouTube channels have more than 5 lakh subscribers. The deceased's Instagram account has over 3.83 lakh followers. Superintendent of police (city) Narinder Singh confirmed on Thursday that the deceased was a resident of Lachman Colony in Ludhiana. 'The victim's family was informed. Kanchan's mother told the police team that her daughter had left the house in Ludhiana on June 9, saying that she was going to Bathinda regarding a promotional event but subsequently lost contact with her family. Her mobile was switched off,' the SP said. She was cremated in Bathinda on Thursday evening. Police sources said a CCTV video has surfaced where an unidentified person wearing a turban is spotted driving into the parking lot at around 5.30 am on June 10. 'The digital evidence suggests that the car carrying Kanchan's body was lying in the parking lot in Bhucho, located on the Bathinda-Chandigarh national highway, indicating that the death had occurred at least 24 to 48 hours before the body was discovered on Wednesday evening,' said an official.
