'Bumrah has the most runs in an over for a batsman': SA great slams Jasprit Bumrah for lacking intent in Lord's chase

As wickets tumbled on Day 5 at Lord's, Team India plunged into a shell and runs had completely dried up. Ravindra Jadeja, who against all odds put on a fight, had adopted a safety-first approach, and held on to it till the end of the match. He managed to forge a little stand with Nitish Kumar Reddy after 7 wickets were down, but the partnership could not go beyond the 30-run mark. Reddy's dismissal brought Jasprit Bumrah to the crease, who in the past has showcased his mettle with the bat. However, Jadeja tried taking most of the strike and Bumrah seemingly had only one job to do, which was to defend. The pacer knew the importance of the wicket and kept negating with a straight bat. After carefully playing 53 deliveries, his patience finally ran out and he perished at the score of 5.

Herschelle Gibbs questions Bumrah
The players in the dressing room, along with head coach Gautam Gambhir, applauded the effort put in by Bumrah. He received praise from many experts as well, but an odd criticism has also been raised. Former South African batter, Herschelle Gibbs has thrown flak at Bumrah for not displaying intent. As someone who has scored 29 runs in an over in a Test match, Bumrah can launch an onslaught with the bat. However, he remained cautious this time and did not throw his bat at anything, except one at which he hit a boundary off Jofra Archer. According to Giibs, Bumrah should have showcased an attacking intent.
Came close in the end but lack of intent cost India the game . #INDvsEND — Herschelle Gibbs (@hershybru) July 14, 2025
While his post was not directed at Bumrah, the reply he gave to a user cleared out what he was referring.
'Bumrah has the most runs in an over for a batsman in test cricket.. .. where was that intent today?' Gibbs said while replying to a user.
As India lost the game by a mere margin of 22 runs, in hindsight, many factors can be pointed out that could have changed the outcome, but that's all in the past and reality cannot be altered. Team India will have to brush aside the Lord's defeat and regroup immediately, as there's a Test series to be won. The 4th Test of the India vs England series will begin on July 23, 2025.

'I hate this so much': Frustrated Rishabh Pant shares injury struggle on social media

NEW DELHI: Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of action since the fourth Test of India's recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series against England, and his absence looks set to continue for some time following a painful toe fracture sustained during the match. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. The southpaw picked up the injury when an attempt to reverse sweep off Chris Woakes struck his right toe, forcing him to play through discomfort before being sidelined. Poll Do you think Rishabh Pant will make a successful comeback after his injury? Absolutely! Maybe, depends on recovery. Uncertain, injuries are tough. On Wednesday, Pant took to Instagram to vent his frustration, posting a picture of his plastered foot on his story with the blunt caption: 'I hate this so much.' But while the frustration is real, Pant has found a lighter way to pass the time — in the kitchen. Earlier in the day, the 27-year-old shared a playful social media video of himself baking pizzas, limping slightly yet grinning in a chef's apron as he kneaded dough and arranged toppings. 'Ghar pe to kuch banaya nahi hai, yaha pizza bana raha hai' ('I haven't cooked anything at home, and here I am making pizza'), Pant quipped, adding an Italian flourish to his caption: 'Impasto, salsa, forno… and me.' In the clip, Pant told viewers, 'Today I'm going to show you how to make pizza… I think I'm gonna make vegetarian pizza. With the truffle? Yeah, with the truffle.' Ever the entertainer, he joked mid-session: 'Can I use your scissor, please? Where is it? Pizza is getting ready. I'm going to wait for it. Very hot in here, boys and girls.' He signed off with his trademark chuckle: 'That's the only thing I can do with a broken foot right now. Mother must be thinking — ghar pe to kuch banaya nahi hai, yaha pizza bana raha hai.' Watch: While his comeback date remains uncertain, Pant's latest posts prove that even in recovery, he's keeping his spirits high.

SA all-rounder Corbin Bosch penalised for Level 1 breach of ICC Code of Conduct

Last Updated: South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel South Africa's fast bowling all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been penalised for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I against Australia on Tuesday. The International Cricket Council (ICC) stated that one demerit point has been added to Bosch's disciplinary record. The incident took place in the 17th over of Australia's innings when Bosch, after dismissing Ben Dwarshuis, gestured towards the player's dugout in a way that could have provoked an aggressive reaction from the batter. Bosch was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to 'using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match." He accepted the sanction proposed by the ICC match officials, avoiding the need for a formal hearing. In the match, South Africa was lifted to an impressive 218/7 by Dewald Brevis, who hit a blistering unbeaten 125 off 56 balls, the highest individual score by a Proteas batter in T20Is. Playing in just his ninth T20I, Brevis, 22, reached his century in just 41 balls, becoming the youngest men's T20I centurion for South Africa. He also recorded the second-fastest men's T20I hundred for his country. In reply, Tim David's 24-ball half-century kept Australia in contention of chasing the massive total. However, three wickets each from Bosch and Kwena Maphaka bowled the hosts out for 165, securing a 53-run win for South Africa. The deciding match of the T20I series will be played in Cairns on Saturday. The game will also be the first-ever Men's T20I at Cazalys Stadium, expected to attract a sell-out crowd of 10,000 spectators. After hosting the ODI series opener on August 19, Australia and South Africa will head to Mackay for the final two matches on August 22 and 24, respectively. This will also be the first time the Australian men's team plays an international match at the Great Barrier Reef Arena. ICC Penalises Corbin Bosch After ‘THIS' Gesture In Heated T20I Clash Against Australia

South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been penalised for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second T20I against Australia at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin on Tuesday. Bosch was found guilty of violating Article 2.5 of the ICC Code, which prohibits 'using language, actions or gestures which disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.' The incident occurred in the 17th over of Australia's innings when Bosch dismissed Ben Dwarshuis and made a send-off gesture towards the players' dugout, an act deemed capable of provoking the batter. As a result, Bosch received one demerit point on his disciplinary record. He accepted the sanction proposed by the ICC Match Officials, which meant no formal hearing was required. South Africa Level the Series in Style The match itself was a high-stakes encounter, with South Africa trailing 1-0 in the series and desperate to force a decider. After a shaky start, the visitors were rescued by a sensational unbeaten 125 from young batting prodigy Dewald Brevis, scored off just 56 balls. Brevis, who reached his century in only 41 deliveries, became the youngest Men's T20I centurion for South Africa and registered the second-fastest T20I hundred in the nation's history. His heroics powered the Proteas to an imposing 218/7. In reply, Tim David gave Australia hope with a rapid 24-ball half-century, but Bosch and Kwena Maphaka shared three wickets each to dismiss the hosts for 165, sealing a 53-run victory for South Africa. Decider in Cairns The win sets up a thrilling series decider in Cairns on Saturday, August 16, before the two teams turn their attention to the ODI series starting August 19.
