CRDA gives its nod for acquiring additional 20,494 acres in Amaravati

The 50th Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) meeting, held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at his camp office on Saturday, gave its nod for the acquisition of an additional 20,494 acres of land in eight villages — Vaikuntapuram, Pedamadduru, Yandrayi, Karlapudi and Lemalle in Amaravati mandal, and Vaddamanu, Harishchandrapuram and Pedaparimi in Thullur mandal of Guntur district — for creating necessary infrastructure. The CRDA also gave the green signal to invite Request for Proposals (RfPs) for various mixed development projects, including a high-density residential zone, in nearly 58 acres spread across Mandadam, Rayapudi, and Pichukalapalem villages, and approved the allotment of 2.50 acres of land each for the construction of world-class convention centres near Vivanta and Hilton Hotels five-star hotels to be built at Mandadam, Hyatt Regency in Thullur, and Novotel in Lingayapalem. Besides, the CRDA had been authorized to dredge sand required for the constructions in Amaravati from the upstream of Prakasam Barrage on the Krishna for a period of two years. It was estimated that the projects costing ₹49,040 crore that were underway in Amaravati needed 16 million cubic meters of sand over the next couple of years. Land allotments Further, the CRDA approved the recommendation of the sub-committee of Ministers to allot 25 acres to KIMS Medical and Hospital, 12 acres each to Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy and MSK Prasad International Cricket Academy, five acres to the State Forensic Science Laboratory, four acres to Basil Woods International School, two acres each to Central Bureau of Investigation, Zoological Survey of India, Income Tax Department, AP Grameena Bank, and an office of the BJP, 0.50 acres each to South Indian Bank and the Bureau of Immigration, 0.495 acres to AP Cooperative Bank Ltd., and 0.40 acres to the Central Bank of India. The CRDA granted permission for the construction of a four-lane ROB (Rail Over Bridge) on the E-15 road near Mangalagiri town, and resolved to cancel the 1.40 acres of land that was allotted to GAIL and Ambika Group. It was also decided to build memorials for Alluri Sitharama Raju and 'Amarajeevi' Potti Sriramulu in Amaravati. Mr. Naidu called upon the officials to work with the kind of commitment that made the construction of the State Secretariat in a record time possible in 2014-19, and told them to closely follow the proposal to build Amaravati airport with the Central government, while ordering that notices be issued to agencies which were struggling to meet the timelines. Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, CRDA Commissioner K. Kanna Babu, and Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) CMD D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy Bhasker and other senior officials of CRDA, ADC, the Finance Department, and the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration took part.

AP: YSRCP accuses Govt of harassing mango farmers before Ex-CM's visit

Tirupati, July 5 (UNI) Former TTD Chairman and former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has strongly condemned the coalition government for its oppressive tactics against mango farmers in Chittoor district and its attempts to obstruct former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit to Bangarupalyam on July 9. Speaking to the media here on Saturday ,Bhumana criticized the government for intimidating farmers to prevent them from attending YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's visit, spreading false propaganda about its cancellation, and failing to support farmers facing severe losses. The former MLA highlighted the government's neglect to ensure fair prices for mango farmers, forcing many to destroy their orchards due to financial distress. He cited the case of T Kumar from Tumindagu village, who was fined Rs. 12,750 by forest officials for cutting down 16 mango trees, an act driven by the lack of viable returns and government support. 'This is the coalition's tyranny, punishing farmers for their desperation while failing to address their plight,' Bhumana said. He contrasted this with Karnataka, where NDA leaders secured Rs 16 per kg for farmers, while Andhra Pradesh's government remained indifferent, holding superficial meetings with pulp factories to falsely claim support. Despite obstacles, Bhumana asserted that YS Jagan's visit to meet distressed farmers is confirmed. 'No amount of intimidation or denial of permissions will stop YS Jagan from standing with farmers,' he declared, noting that YSRCP has twice requested the district collector for security and permissions. He also dismissed Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan's remarks as irrelevant, urging the government to focus on farmers' welfare instead of suppressing their voices. 'Farmers are ready to share their grievances with former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy and the government's attempts to silence them only expose their failures,' he said, vowing that YSRCP will continue to fight for farmers' rights. Foundation stone for Arcelor Mittal-Nippon Steel plant likely to be laid in Anakapalli district in October

The Andhra Pradesh Government is gearing up to have the foundation laid for the mega integrated steel plant of Arcelor Mittal-Nippon Steel (AM&NS) in Anakapalli district in October and get it completed by the end of 2028. Kadapa plant Apart from this, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is keeping in direct touch with the Jindal Group to give a tangible shape to the steel plant in Kadapa district, which is to be established in compliance with the A.P. State Reorganization Act of 2014, but has been hanging fire for over a decade now. As far as the AM&NS steel plant is concerned, up to 6,000 acres of land has already been acquired and pollution clearance for it is expected to come in September, Industries & Commerce Minister T.G. Bharat has said, while claiming that some major players in the steel sector (other than AM&NS) are exploring the opportunities to invest in the State. In an exclusive interview with The Hindu on Saturday, Mr. Bharat said top priority was given to the establishment of the AM&NS plant, and revival of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), which achieved a turnaround due to the financial package given by the Central government, after tottering on the brink of disinvestment. More in the pipeline On the other hand, the government has, in recent months, cleared multiple proposals for the establishment of industries with investments ranging from ₹100 crore to ₹5,000 crore. They are in various stages, and a good number of them are in the solar power, pharma and semiconductor sectors. Steps are taken for the development of an industrial corridor between Lepakshi and Orvakal. Mr. Bharat said that Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace, which had sent India's first privately built rocket into space in late 2022, expressed keenness to set up a testing facility at Sriharikota. Besides, some big semiconductor manufacturing units were in the process of being established by South Korean and Taiwanese companies. A.P. Industrial Development Policy (4.0) 2024-29, A.P. Food Processing Policy (4.0) 2024-29, A.P. MSME & EDP (4.0) 2024-29, and A.P. Private Industrial Parks Policy (4.0) 2024-29 laid a comprehensive framework that was needed to transform the State into a progressive industrial destination. The speed with which businesses were being facilitated was helping Andhra Pradesh in clinching big deals, Mr. Bharat said, adding that several major projects were in the pipeline and the State would retain its leadership in Ease-of-Doing Business rankings.
