Rahul Gandhi to visit Haryana on June 4, to hold meeting with state senior leaders
Speaking to the media, Bhan said, 'On the 4th, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi will be visiting the Haryana PCC office to address all AICC and PCC observers as part of the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan (Organisation Creation Campaign).'
'Rahul Ji is coming on the 4th to address and guide us. He will first hold a meeting at 11:30 AM with senior leaders associated with the organisation. Leaders like Bhupinder Hooda, Kumari Selja, Deepender Hooda, Randeep Surjewala, and several others will participate in the meeting. After this, he will address the AICC and PCC observers. He will then depart for Chandigarh,' Bhan said.
Earlier today, reacting to Rahul Gandhi's upcoming visit to Chandigarh, Haryana Minister Anil Vij said that it has been more than eight months and the Congress still has not been able to decide the Leader of Opposition in the state.
'Congress comments on national issues and talks big about the country's major problems, but it has not yet been able to decide on the Leader of Opposition,' Vij said.
'It has been more than eight months, and they still haven't been able to decide on their Leader of Opposition, which is quite disheartening. Several meetings have already taken place, and they must have been informed about this issue. Perhaps Rahul Gandhi is coming specifically for this Haryana meeting,' Vij further claimed
When asked about infighting within the Haryana Congress, Anil Vij took a dig at the party, saying, 'Politics is a strange thing. The same people create conflicts, and the same people broker peace.' (ANI)

Truth of triumph, says Bihar Congress on Supreme Court's SIR order
Ahead of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 16-day vote adhikar yatra (right to vote march) in Bihar from August 17, the State's party president Rajesh Kumar 'Ram' on Thursday (August 14, 2025) hailed as a 'triumph of truth and defeat of conspiracy' the Supreme Court's interim order on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar. The court on Thursday directed the Election Commission to publish the names of voters deleted from the draft roll published on August 1 with reasons. 'This [order] is our first victory,' Mr. Kumar said. 'This is not only an order of the court but a big step taken to protect the democratic values of the country. Since the beginning, we have been saying that deletion of names from the voters' list is a murder of democracy. Today, the Supreme Court has protected democratic rights of people of Bihar and now there will not be any ploy to steal votes,' he added. Mr. Gandhi will start his march from Sasaram and will be joined by Opposition leaders, the party said. The yatra will culminate in a public meeting in Patna's Gandhi Maidan on September 1. The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha will cover 1,300 km, visiting Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada, Jamui, Nalanda, Sheikhpura, Munger, Katihar, Purnia, Supaul, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, West Champaran and Saran districts, said party spokesperson Rajesh Rathore. 'The State unit of the party will organise the nationwide 'save democracy torch procession' in all district headquarters on Thursday,' said party spokesperson Asit Nath Tiwari. Asked how the party will benefit from Mr. Gandhi's 16-day visit in the upcoming Assembly elections, senior Congress leader Kishore Kumar Jha said, 'It will make the desired difference like the party had earlier got after the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.' In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Congress candidate Manoj Kumar had won the Sasaram parliamentary seat defeating BJP's Shivesh Kumar. From the neighbouring Lok Sabha seat Aurangabad, the Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Abhay Kushwaha beat Sushil Kumar Singh of the BJP. Party general secretary (organisation) K. C. Venugopal and other leaders visited Sasaram on Wednesday to review preparations for Mr. Gandhi's visit.

EC slams ‘vote theft' claims as ‘direct attack' on voters, reiterates demand for affidavit
'One Person One Vote' has been in existence since the first election of India in 1951-1952. If anyone has any proof of any person actually voting twice in any election, it should be shared with ECI with a written affidavit rather than colouring all the electors of India as 'Chor' without any proof,' the Election Commission stated. The statement came in response to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's allegation of massive 'vote theft' in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. New Delhi: Election Commission of India on Thursday strongly responded to the 'vote theft' allegations, stating that the attempt to 'create a false narrative' against the poll body is a 'direct attack' on the Indian voters and 'assault' on the integrity of election staff. Reiterating the law that one person is allowed to cast only one vote, the Election Commission again demanded a written affidavit with proof of a person voting twice in any election. 'Trying to create a false narrative by using dirty phrases like 'Vote Chori' for our electors, is not only a direct attack on the crores of Indian electors but also an assault on the integrity of lakhs of election staff, the election body adds,' it added. The statement came in response to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's allegation that over 1,00,250 'fake votes' were created in the Mahadevapura Assembly segment in the Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka to ensure a win for the BJP. Earlier in the day, The Delhi Youth Congress workers put up banners reading 'vote chori commission' outside the ECI's office in Delhi, intensifying their protests. Rahul Gandhi has announced the launch of 'VoterAdhikarYatra' against SIR of electoral rolls and called on people to 'join this people's movement' Making the announcement in a post on X, the Congress MP said, 'From August 17, with #VoterAdhikarYatra, we are launching a direct fight against vote theft from the soil of Bihar.' 'This is not just an election issue – it is a decisive battle to protect democracy, the constitution, and the principle of 'one man, one vote.' We will ensure a clean voter list across the entire country. Youth, workers, farmers – every citizen, rise and join this people's movement. This time, the defeat of vote thieves – the victory of the people, the victory of the constitution' This report is auto-generated from ANI news service. India and the United States (US) share a comprehensive strategic partnership anchored in shared interests, democratic values, and strong people-to-people ties, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday. During the weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said: 'This partnership has weathered several transitions and challenges, as we had said earlier, and we remain focused on the substantive agenda that the two countries have committed to, and we hope that the relationship will continue to move forward based on mutual respect and shared interests.' #WATCH | Delhi | On the India–U.S. partnership, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal says, "The United States and India share a comprehensive global strategic partnership anchored in shared interests, democratic values and robust people-to-people ties. The levy could be reduced if India and the US reach a trade agreement, with the sixth round of negotiations scheduled for later this month. Tariff concerns linked to Russia-Ukraine conflict US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned on Wednesday that Washington may further increase the 25 per cent additional tariff rate on India if US President Donald Trump's upcoming meeting with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Alaska fails to make progress on Ukraine. Trump has accused India of funding Russia's war effort through purchases of discounted Russian crude. Defence cooperation remains a key pillar On defence ties, Jaiswal said the India-US defence partnership remains an important pillar of bilateral relations, underpinned by foundational defence agreements and strengthened across all domains. 'We are expecting a US Defence Policy Team to be in Delhi in mid-August. The 21st edition of the joint military exercise 'Yudh Abhyas' is also expected to take place later this month in Alaska. Both sides remain engaged to convene the 2+2 intersessional meeting at the working level towards the end of this month,' Jaiswal said.
