Report filed over derogatory term used on Orang Asli MP Ramli

Ramli Nor became Malaysia's first Orang Asli MP in 2019 when he was elected to the Cameron Highlands seat.
PETALING JAYA : A group representing veterans of the police's Orang Asli unit has lodged a report on the alleged use of a derogatory term against Cameron Highlands MP Ramli Nor on Facebook.
The report, filed yesterday by Bah Bi Bah Kerundang, who leads the Senoi Praaq police veterans' association, concerned a Facebook comment which allegedly used the term 'sakai' and belittled Ramli's intelligence.
He said the comment was insulting to Ramli, Malaysia's sole Orang Asli MP, as well as the indigenous community, and called for action against the Facebook user.
Ramli, who is also a Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker, became Malaysia's first Orang Asli MP when he was elected to the Cameron Highlands seat in a by-election in 2019. He won with a majority of 3,238 votes.
He defended the seat for a second term in the 2022 general election, winning with a greater majority of 4,544 votes.
A former police officer who retired from the force with the rank of assistant commissioner, Ramli is also an appointed member of the Umno Supreme Council.

Pahang's PET30 to drive economic transformation across state

BENTONG: The Pahang Economic Transformation 2025-2030 (PET30) is a strategic initiative aimed at reshaping the economic landscape of the east coast state into a more sustainable, inclusive and people-centric model. PET30 is built upon three main pillars namely the well-being of the people, environmental responsibility and economic growth driven by the private sector. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail described it not merely as a development plan, but as a comprehensive transformation exercise based on the state's resource strengths, current global market realities and the aspirations of its people. "PET30 will focus on strengthening the agro-food and plantation industries, advancing materials development, promoting nature-based tourism, enhancing human capital and workforce quality, and driving regional transformation and district empowerment. "Conserving forests and biodiversity will serve as the foundation of the green economy. "The green economy is a strategic asset, not only from the perspective of ecological sustainability but also as a new engine of growth, including carbon investment and the climate economy," he said in a statement today. Wan Rosdy earlier attended the PET30 master plan workshop led by Pahang Economic Advisory Council chairman Tan Sri Mohamed Nazir Abdul Razak at Genting Highlands near here today. Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy emphasised that strategic infrastructure projects, such as the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park, East Coast Rail Link, Kuantan Port, Pekan Automotive Park, Central Spine Road, and Gebeng, would be fully leveraged as catalysts for investments. He said PET30 could not rely solely on policy documents but must be translated into concrete actions, supported by strict monitoring, key performance indicators, and cross-agency collaboration. "I call upon all parties to treat the years 2025 to 2030 as an era of execution, not just planning. We must step out of our comfort zones and act swiftly to steer Pahang toward a more prosperous future. "I am confident that PET30 will build a more prosperous, sustainable, and united future for the benefit of all the people in Pahang and future generations," he said.

The deputy prime minister and Umno president said that BN consistently engages with all parties, as the coalition believes in open politics. "We hope all discussions will be positive. No door should be left wide open, and no door should be closed completely. This means there is always room for negotiation and engagement. "BN will contest under the 'Dacing' symbol, but we do not reject collaboration with other political coalitions," he told reporters after officiating the Sabah Women Empowerment programme at the Sabah International Convention Centre here today. Also present were Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang, Majlis Amanah Rakyat chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Sabah Community Development Department (Kemas) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin. On seat distribution, he said discussions have not reached that stage, but BN remains committed to avoiding clashes between coalition partners. "The best way forward is to adopt an open attitude, and of course, it is better to seek more allies than to create adversaries," he said. High Court orders transfer of land title from Tun M and three other trustees to Umno

Umno and the Federal Territories Land and Mines Office Registrar had agreed to resolve the matter by way of a consent judgment. 24 Jun 2025 04:10pm Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex. - BERNAMA FILE PIX KUALA LUMPUR - The High Court here today ordered that a 9,723-square metre parcel of land in the capital, previously registered in the names of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin, Tun Musa Hitam, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the late Tan Sri Sanusi Junid as trustees, be transferred to Umno. Justice Roz Mawar Rozain made the order after Umno's counsel, Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun, informed the court that the applicant (Umno) and the respondent (Federal Territories Land and Mines Office Registrar) had agreed to resolve the matter by way of a consent judgment. "Accordingly, the court records the parties' consent judgment, and the transfer of title is to be effected within 30 days," Justice Roz Mawar said during the proceedings, which were also attended by Umno's co-counsel, Norhazira Abu Haiyan. According to the draft consent order obtained by the media, ownership of the property is to be transferred and registered in the name of Umno, together with all rights, interests and title therein, under Section 9(b) of the Societies Act 1966. The High Court ordered that a 9,723-square metre parcel of land in the capital, previously registered in the names of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin, Tun Musa Hitam, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the late Tan Sri Sanusi Junid as trustees, be transferred to Umno. On March 6, Umno's Secretary of Works, Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan, filed an originating summons seeking a court order for the transfer of title to Grant 78154, Lot 40, Section 51, Bandar Kuala Lumpur, registered in the names of four trustees, to Umno under Clause 27.1 of the United Malays National Organisation Constitution and Section 9 of the Societies Act 1966. Umno also sought an order directing the Federal Territory Land Registrar or Land Administrator to effect the transfer by entering a memorial in the title document. In his supporting affidavit, Mohd Sumali stated that under Form Schedule 17, an application for approval to transfer the land dated Oct 27, 2015, together with a statutory declaration dated Oct 22, 2015, was executed and affirmed by all four trustees. He further affirmed that two of the trustees, Tan Sri Sanusi Junid and Tun Daim Zainuddin, have since passed away, on March 9, 2018, and Nov 13, 2024, respectively. According to Mohd Sumali, the then office bearers of Umno, namely the President, Deputy President, and Secretary-General, had agreed via a statutory declaration dated Dec 10, 2015, to have the property re-registered in the party's name. He added that a letter from the Federal Territories Land and Mines Office dated Dec 28, 2015, confirmed that the Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur Land Working Committee had approved the proposed transfer of title from the trustees to UMNO. However, the subsequent attempt to effect the transfer via Form 14A, dated April 25, 2016, submitted by UMNO's solicitors to the Federal Territories Land and Mines Office was rejected on May 18, 2017. He said the stated reason for the rejection was a discrepancy between the names listed on the land title and the corresponding names on the identity documents. - BERNAMA More Like This
