Haryana CM Nayab Saini participates in Maharishi Kashyap Jayanti celebration in Kurukshetra
Kurukshetra (Haryana) [India], May 23 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini participated in an event organised on the occasion of Maharishi Kashyap Jayanti on Friday.
CM Saini said he felt reverence and pride after joining in the celebration of Maharishi Kashyap, and the event was an opportunity to connect with the roots of culture.
'I bow down and pay my obeisance to Lord Maharishi Kashyapji. Ram-Ram to all the family members present on the holy land of Ladwa in 'Maharishi Kashyap Jayanti State Level Celebration.'I feel reverence, pride and a special emotional bond in my heart after coming to the feet of Maharshi Ji. This is not a ceremony but an opportunity to connect with the roots of culture,' Saini posted on X.
His post further read, 'The soul of our country resides in the sages, and their principles are important and effective in making India a 'developed nation'. I congratulate the Kashyap community. All of you have made significant contributions in every field by following the ideals and principles of Bhagwan Maharishi Ji.'
Earlier on Thursday, Haryana CM Saini carried out the Tiranga Yatra to honour the armed forces for Operation Sindoor.
The CM, in his address to the people, stated that the rallies were occasions to pay true homage to the sense of patriotism and sacrifice.
'Tiranga Yatra is being organised in Ladwa today. Tiranga Yatras are being organised across the country. These Yatras are not just events but occasions to pay true homage to the sense of patriotism and sacrifice. This Yatra is not just of the tricolour, this is a Yatra of our pledge, bravery and self-respect. This Yatra is for those brave jawans who, through Operation Sindoor, elevated India's honour, safety and prestige,' Saini said, addressing the people.
He further stated that Operation Sindoor was not just a military operation but a symbol of the great bravery of the Indian soldiers.'Operation Sindoor is a saga in its own. This was not just a military operation. It was a symbol of the great bravery of Indian soldiers. It was the pledge of keeping 'sindoor' on the forehead of Maa Bharati safe. I salute this brave soil of Haryana, where lakhs of youth are always eager to serve Bharat Mata. This Tiranga Yatra is a message to those brave soldiers that the entire nation stands with them. This Tiranga Yatra salutes the bravery of those soldiers who made Operation Sindoor successful,' he added.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched the 'Tiranga Yatra' on May 13. It concluded today, on May 23.
The yatra aims to honour the valour of Indian soldiers and inform citizens about Operation Sindoor's recent success. (ANI)

New Delhi: India expects partners to understand its policy of "zero tolerance" against terrorism, and it will never countenance "perpetrators of evil" being put on par with its victims, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday during extensive talks with his British counterpart David Lammy. Jaishankar's remarks, which seemed to be an attempt to send an unambiguous message to the global community, came against the backdrop of unease in New Delhi over several countries hyphenating India and Pakistan following their four-day clashes last month. Lammy arrived in New Delhi on Saturday morning on a two-day visit to review various aspects of the strategic partnership between the two countries. Before holding talks with Jaishankar, the British foreign secretary met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his televised opening remarks at the meeting with Lammy, Jaishankar thanked the UK for its strong condemnation of the "barbaric" Pahalgam terror attack and London's solidarity and support to New Delhi's fight against terrorism. "We practice a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and expect our partners to understand it, and we will never countenance perpetrators of evil being put at par with its victims," he said. It is understood that the Indian side explained its challenge of dealing with cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan. The UK was among the countries which were in touch with both India and Pakistan in an attempt to de-escalate tensions during their military conflict from May 7-10. Lammy paid a two-day visit to Islamabad from May 16, during which he welcomed the May 10 understanding between India and Pakistan to stop the military actions. Jaishankar also described the recently finalised India-UK free trade deal and the double contribution convention as "truly a milestone". "The recent conclusion of the India-UK FTA and the double contribution convention is truly a milestone which will not only propel our two-way trade and investment but will also have a positive effect on other strategic aspects of our bilateral ties," Jaishankar said.

World Bank data validates PM Modi's governance as 269 mn lifted out of poverty: BJP leader Praveen Khandelwal
In a strong endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's transformational governance, Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Chandni Chowk Praveen Khandelwal said on Sunday that the latest World Bank data reflects the success of inclusive policies that have uplifted millions. According to the newly released report, 269 million people in India have been lifted out of extreme poverty between 2011–12 and 2022–23. The World Bank data reveals a steep decline in the extreme poverty rate from 27.1 per cent in 2011-12 to just 5.3 per cent in 2022–23. This translates to a drop in the number of people living in extreme poverty from 344.47 million to 75.24 million over the past 11 years. Khandelwal credited this significant achievement to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, who assumed office in 2014. He said the sharp reduction in poverty is the result of direct benefit transfers, digital empowerment, rural development and targeted welfare schemes that have reached the grassroots. "Through targeted welfare schemes, digital empowerment, rural development, and direct benefit transfers, the Narendra Modi government has laid a strong foundation for poverty eradication and social equity," he added. Highlighting flagship initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, and PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, he noted that these programmes have brought real change to the lives of the poor citizens. He said that this milestone is not just a statistical victory, but a reflection of growing hope, dignity, and economic opportunity across the country. He added that it further strengthens India's journey toward becoming a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. According to BJP MP Khandelwal, the World Bank's findings reaffirm that under PM Modi's leadership, India is not only the fastest-growing major economy but also one that is ensuring no one is left behind in the nation's development. "This milestone reinforces the belief that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, India is not only the fastest-growing major economy but also a nation where the poorest are being empowered, included, and uplifted," he said.

Constitutional bodies ‘hijacked' under Modi Government, alleges Tejashwi Yadav
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday (June 8, 2025) charged the Narendra Modi government with 'hijacking' constitutional bodies such as the Election Commission and alleged that the ruling BJP becomes aware of poll schedules even before the dates are announced. The former deputy Chief Minister also claimed that the last state Assembly polls held in 2020 were not held fairly and backed doubts raised by Rahul Gandhi of alliance partner Congress over Maharashtra elections. 'One cannot deny the fact that all constitutional bodies have been hijacked ever since the Narendra Modi-led NDA came to power in 2014 at the Centre. It's quite surprising that BJP's IT Cell comes to know the dates of elections before the ECI announces them. We are keeping an eye on the developments,' Mr. Yadav told reporters in Patna. Constitutional institutions need to function independently, he said wondering how people would expect justice if they were influenced. 'People know what happened in the 2020 assembly polls in the State. We were supposed to form the government. The ECI did three press conferences to justify why counting was stopped in the evening. But why did it resume at night? Those Mahagathbandhan candidates who were declared winners were later announced as losers,' the RJD leader said. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently alleged rigging in the 2024 Maharashtra election, which was won by a BJP-led alliance. In an article, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha had alleged 'match-fixing' in the Maharashtra polls and claimed that it would next happen in the Bihar elections and 'anywhere the BJP is losing'. The EC rejected the allegation.
