"I Can Get You A Chair": Boss Asks Employee To Return To Work With Broken Leg. WhatsApp Chat Goes Viral

NDTVa day ago

A WhatsApp chat between a new employee and his boss has gone viral, sparking a discussion on toxic work culture. Ben Askins, who regularly shares content about toxic workplaces and exploitative managers, posted the WhatsApp chat on Instagram. According to the conversation shown in the clip, a manager repeatedly asked the employee to return to work despite the worker suffering a broken leg in a bike accident.
The manager starts the conversation with a polite message asking him about his whereabouts. The employee informs him that he has a broken leg and is currently in the hospital. However, instead of showing concern for his well-being, the boss tries to convince him to return to work by Friday.

The injured employee explains that the doctors have advised him to take bed rest for a few days. But the boss keeps insisting and says doctors are "overly cautious". The employee politely responds that he will definitely come back if the doctor permits. The boss then says, "Ideally, I need you in for the Friday shift, do you think you will make it? I can get you a chair."
When all his attempts fail, the boss then tries to guilt-trip the worker and accuses them of taking time off after joining the company two weeks prior. And this was the breaking point for the employee. "Then let me make it even easier for you. I quit," he responds.
Since being shared, the post has gone viral. In the comments section, several users praised the employee for standing up for himself and quitting, while others shared similar experiences from their own workplaces.
"I absolutely believe this is real.. worked in call centre.. where a woman with a broken ankle came in (forced to) and they turned a metal waste paper bin for her to put her foot on.. she left after a few hours the pain was so bad.. but they had forced her to come to work," shared one user.
"I still cannot believe this situations are real. Honestly, after all this time Ben has been kindly sharing with us these messages i am still like nop, this cannot be real! Unbelievable!" expressed another.
"I had an employer offer me a chair so I could come back to work when I was off with tendonitis in my foot. When I got back to work, I asked for the chair I'd been offered, and they said, 'We don't really do that, can't you stand on one leg?'" shared a third user.
"Literally happened to me after a car accident. He's like I'll get you a chair so you can sit," wrote another.

‘It takes less than 2 minutes to make': Alaya F starts her day with this gut-cleansing detox water, suggests having it on an empty stomach

Alaya F is a self-proclaimed health and wellness enthusiast, and her social media is a journal of her experiments and tips. In a recent Instagram post, the Jawaani Jaaneman actor shared her go-to morning detox drink, which promises great benefits. 'What if I told you that this little morning drink helps my gut, clears my skin, boosts my metabolism, and gets rid of bloating?🤔🌸✨ (And it takes less than 2 minutes to make!!) I have this drink every single morning and I swear by it!🤍,' she said in a video. Here's how you can make it: Ingredients: warm water 2 tsp soaked chia seeds 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice 2 tsp apple cider vinegar 1 tsp honey 'Pour some warm water in a glass, add a tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice, 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, 2 teaspoons of soaked chia seeds, and a teaspoon of honey. Stir it and enjoy,' she walked us through the recipe in the video. Mentioning three critical points to remember, Alaya added: – Have it on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning – Make sure the water is warm, not boiling – Consistency is key, have this regularly for the best results reached out to health experts to understand the benefits of starting your mornings with this concoction: Kanikka Malhotra, consultant dietician and certified diabetes educator, tells 'Drinking honey-lemon water in the morning can support weight loss, aid digestion, and promote hydration. Replacing high-calorie drinks with honey-lemon water can reduce overall calorie intake, potentially leading to weight loss.' Increased water intake can boost metabolism and create a feeling of fullness, which helps shed pounds, she added. According to her, lemon juice encourages the production of digestive juices, and honey acts as a prebiotic, supporting beneficial gut flora. Moreover, the drink's hydrating properties can prevent constipation and promote regular bowel movements. According to Dr Bimal Chhajer, Cardiologist, former consultant at AIIMS, and founder of SAAOL Heart Institute, consumption of raw honey, instead of added sugar, can help lower fasting blood glucose and the amount of bad cholesterol present in the blood because honey is a natural substance found in nature. It is unprocessed, without any preservatives or chemicals. 'Consuming 35-45 grams of unprocessed honey in a day, be it through tea, raw, or any other way, can lead to several beneficial effects on the human body,' he added. Malhotra said chia seeds are full of fibre, which helps keep the stomach healthy. 'Eating chia seeds daily can help regulate your bowel movements if you struggle with constipation. Chia seeds provide a slow release of energy, keeping you active throughout the day,' she said, adding that they contain protein, healthy fats, and carbohydrates, which help maintain energy levels. These seeds also expand in your stomach and make you feel full for a longer time, which can prevent overeating and help with weight control. According to her, it is always a good idea to kick-start your day with some apple cider vinegar. It helps balance the pH of the gut and aids in digestion. It also helps flush out toxins from the body. Adding a pinch of honey enhances the flavour and nutritional benefits of the drink. Dipika Kakar Out Of ICU After Cancer Surgery, Shoaib Ibrahim Shares Health Update

Last Updated: Last month, Dipika Kakar revealed that she is battling stage 2 liver cancer. Television actor Shoaib Ibrahim has shared the latest health update of his actress wife, Dipika Kakar. The latter, who was recently diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer, underwent a major surgery on June 3. On Friday, Shoaib took to his YouTube vlogs and revealed that Dipika is now out of the ICU. The actor shared that her condition is improving and that she is feeling better. 'Tomorrow is Eid Al Adha and today on such an auspicious day Dipika is out of the ICU. I am really grateful that she is out of the ICU and she is with us. She was in the ICU for three days and her condition kept improving after the surgery. Around evening, the doctors decided to shift her to the room. She will be here for a few days as the surgery was major, she was in the OT for 14 hours," he said. Shoaib further shared details of Dipika's 14-hour-long surgery and added, 'We all were tensed as doctors had mentioned it would be a long surgery. She was taken in at 8:30 am and she came out of the OT at 11:30 pm. I then met her when they shifted her to the ICU. At 6-7 pm, we all panicked as there was no update from the OT as we had never witnessed such a serious surgery. Thankfully, the doctor had assured me that if they don't come out for updates, then the surgery is going fine and she will be all well." Shoaib mentioned that during the surgery, doctors discovered that Dipika even had a stone in her gallbladder. 'The doctors even removed Dipika's gallbladder as they detected stone and they had to cut a small portion of the liver as the tumour was cancerous. The doctors mentioned that the liver is a self-restorative organ so it shall heal itself with time. So it is not something to be stressed about but we have to stay cautious and take good care," he shared. Last month, Dipika revealed that she is battling stage 2 liver cancer. The television star, known for her role in Sasural Simar Ka, shared the heartbreaking update through an emotional Instagram note. After suffering intense stomach pain, doctors discovered a tumour 'the size of a tennis ball" in her liver, which was later confirmed to be cancerous. Since then, Shoaib has been sharing her health updates on social media. A few days ago, the actor had also shared an emotional video on their YouTube channel, calling it 'the toughest phase" of their lives while remaining hopeful about her recovery. 'Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah, the scan report came out clear. The virus or its cells have not spread anywhere else in the body. Whatever is there is confined to the tumour, and once the tumour is surgically removed, Inshallah, things will get better," he said. First Published:
