Last Updated:
The legendary former India captain took time out for his friend's little daughter, attending her birthday party in Ranchi after being invited in a beautiful gesture.
MS Dhoni won the hearts of cricket fans again as the India and Chennai Super Kings legend was spotted at a cake-cutting ceremony for his friend's daughter at her birthday party. In a viral video, the captain cool showed great humility and came up with a lovely gesture for one of his close friends. Known for his hideouts and maintaining secrecy about his life, it was Dhoni's rare appearance at a public gathering.
Unlike many global celebrities, keeping things private has been Dhoni's way of living. The great cricketer rarely gives interviews or makes social media updates. But in a heartening moment, he made sure to put a smile on his friend's daughter's face by attending her birthday party, something that made the entire family emotional. Dhoni poured his heart out for his close friend and was seen smiling and posing for pictures with him.
Despite an extremely busy schedule, Dhoni always makes time for his family and friends, going a mile to make ends meet for them. Notably, this is not the first time he has reached this close friend's house for a birthday party. Last year, too, a video of him attending a cake-cutting ceremony and celebrations at this friend's place in Ranchi went viral as he was seen joking and laughing around his close mates.

Dhoni is enjoying the long break he has got since ending his captaincy duties at this year's Indian Premier League with Chennai Super Kings in late May. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter, who retired from international cricket back in August 2020, has been an IPL specialist for the last five years and led CSK to their most recent titles in 2021 and 2023 in this period.
Speculations have been rife since the final stages of the IPL 2025 about Dhoni's future in the league and whether the 43-year-old will return to don the yellow jersey for the Super Kings. But as always, the stalwart is keeping his cards close to his chest. Even as experts believe Dhoni is unlikely to make a comeback for CSK next year, his passionate fans can't get enough of one of the game's greatest and await his return at IPL 2026.

HC dismisses HCA's appeal over arbitral award to Visaka Industries
Telangana High Court had dismissed an appeal filed by Hyderabad Cricket Association challenging an arbitral award of ₹25.92 crore passed by local Commercial Court in favour of Vishaka Industries. A bench of Justices Moushumi Bhattacharya and B.R. Madhusudhan Rao said that the HCA failed to make out any grounds for interference in the impugned order passed by the Commercial Court in 2024. 'In short, the HCA exposed its unsportsmanlike colours and whatever game it may have played, it was certainly not ticket in the fairest sense of the term', the two judges said in the order. The dispute between HCA and M/s Visaka Industries arose over an agreement they had entered in 2004. As per the agreement, Visaka Industries rights for in-stadia advertisement rights for the construction of an international cricket stadium at Uppal Kancha in Hyderabad. Before conducting IPL matches in 2008, the HCA wrote to Visaka expressing its inability to honour its obligations as per the 2004 agreement, stating that it was not binding on the BCCI-IPL arrangement. Visaka moved the lower court to restrain HCA from denying in-stadia ad rights to it during IPL matches. While the litigation prolonged, the HCA wrote a letter to Visaka in 2011 stating that it had terminated the 2004 agreement on the ground of impossibility of performance. Finally, an arbitral award of ₹25.92 crore was made to Visaka in 2016. The same was challenged by HCA in the Commercial Court, which dismissed it. The HCA filed the present appeal against the Commercial Court order. The bench held that even in the present appeal, the HCA never inclined to provide statutory security for stay of the award but tested its luck at all levels only get an unfair and short-lived edge over Visaka', the verdict said. The New Zealand cricket board took to X on Thursday (June 26) to announce the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe. The Kiwis will face hosts Zimbabwe and South Africa in the tri-series starting July 14 in Harare. Spin bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner will lead the Black Caps, and the squad also features the likes of his Mumbai Indians teammate Bevon Jacobs, MI New York all-rounder Michael Bracewell, Rachin Ravindra, and Finn Allen, among others. Legendary batter and former captain Kane Williamson, however, continues to remain absent from the squad, whereas Chennai Super Kings opener Devon Conway was ignored by the selectors. Williamson last played a T20I match for New Zealand in Tarouba on June 17, 2024, against Papua New Guinea. According to a release shared by Black Caps, 'Kane Williamson wasn't included after making himself unavailable for selection." Fast bowlers Lockie Ferguson, Ben Sears, and Kyle Jamieson will also miss the tri-series due to various reasons, but Adam Milne is back in the T20I team. 'Pace bowlers unavailable for selection for this tour were Ben Sears (side injury), Lockie Ferguson (load management), and Kyle Jamieson—who is awaiting the birth of his first child," the release stated. Milne will bolster the pace bowling stocks alongside the world No. 1 T20I bowler Jacob Duffy and the Canterbury trio of Matt Henry, Will O'Rourke, and Zak Foulkes. Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell are two specialist batters in New Zealand's squad, and they will have the support of all-rounders Rachin, Glenn Phillips, and Bracewell. Ish Sodhi, who is New Zealand's second-highest wicket-taker in T20Is, will join Santner as the other specialist spinner. Welcome back Bevon Jacobs & Adam Milne 🤝 Full story | #CricketNation 📷 = @PhotosportNZ — BLACKCAPS (@BLACKCAPS) June 26, 2025 'I think we've got a really strong squad for this tour, and I'm looking forward to getting the team together and getting into the work," New Zealand's new head coach Rob Walter said. 'We've got some good experience in the side, and it's nice to be able to welcome back a few of the players who missed the March series against Pakistan because of the IPL. It should be a great T20 Tri Series with South Africa, who are a very strong side, and Zimbabwe, who play well at home in their own conditions." New Zealand's squad for the T20I tri-series: Mitch Santner (C), Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Matt Henry, Bevon Jacobs, Adam Milne, Daryl Mitchell, Will O'Rourke, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, Tim Seifert (WK), Ish Sodhi First Published: June 27, 2025, 00:11 IST

Confirmed! Sanju Samson Set To Join New Franchise On July 5
India's star batter Sanju Samson is set to enter the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) player auction for the first time as the second edition of the T20 league gears up for action. The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) will hold the KCL 2.0 auction in Thiruvananthapuram on July 5, with Samson expected to be the marquee name available. Samson Registers for KCL Auction After missing the inaugural 2024 season of the KCL due to international commitments, where he only served as the league ambassador, Samson has now thrown his name into the player pool. With a relatively clear international schedule ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, Samson's participation is confirmed. The upcoming KCL season runs from August 22 to September 7, meaning Samson could be available for the playoff stages if the Bangladesh-India series (August 17 – August 31) takes place as planned. Samson's inclusion in the league is expected to be a game-changer, especially for cricket fans in Thiruvananthapuram. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain will be looking to gain valuable match practice and reignite his campaign to secure a regular spot in India's T20I side. He had fallen out of favour following a tough five-match T20I series against England earlier this year. The wicketkeeper-batter faced injury setbacks during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. For much of the campaign, Riyan Parag took over captaincy duties for Rajasthan Royals, with Sanju Samson initially featuring only as an Impact Player before being sidelined due to injury. He scored 257 runs in nine innings at an average of 35.63. KCL 2.0: Tournament Dates, Format, and Franchises The second season of KCL is scheduled from August 22 to September 7. A franchise owners' meeting took place on June 26. The six teams competing this year are: Kollam Sailors Calicut Globstars Alleppey Ripples Kochi Blue Tigers Thrissur Titans Trivandrum Royals In the inaugural season, 114 players were picked from 168 registrations, with franchises spending an average of Rs 40 lakh each. Kollam Sailors, led by Kerala domestic captain Sachin Baby, were crowned champions after defeating the Calicut Globstars in the final.
