‘The View's Ana Navarro urges Gloria Gaynor to reject Trump's Kennedy Center honor
NEW YORK — Ana Navarro made a public plea for Gloria Gaynor to turn down an invite to be honored by President Donald Trump at the Kennedy Center. The outspoken Republican co-host of 'The View' took to social media on Thursday to urge the Grammy-winning disco queen to reject her induction into the 2025 class of Kennedy Center Honorees due to the MAGA leader's polarizing views and overhauling of the institution's board. Gaynor was one of five honorees unveiled Wednesday by Trump, who also announced that he'll host the Dec. 7 induction ceremony in Washington, D.C. The other honorees announced were George Strait, Michael Crawford, KISS and Sylvester Stallone. Navarro highlighted Gaynor's diehard LGBTQ+ following as reason enough for her to not accept the prestigious accolade, considering the president's anti-trans and anti-community stances that have drawn widespread criticism. 'A few years ago, I got to briefly meet @gloriagaynor at a concert in Miami,' Navarro wrote on Instagram Thursday morning. 'She gifted me a keychain that belted out 'I Will Survive,' when you pressed it. Let's just say, during [the] first Trump term, I pressed it til it ran out of batteries. Yesterday, Trump announced he picked her to receive a Kennedy Center Honor, which he plans to host.' Calling the singer 'a goddess' who 'deserves all the flowers that come her way,' Navarro stressed that she believes Gaynor should turn down the award. 'I wish she wouldn't accept an award from the hands of a man who has attacked the rights and history of women, people of color and LGBTQ,' she continued. 'The gay community in particular, helped turn her signature song into an anthem.' Navarro concluded her post by calling Trump 'a stain on the prestige and significance of the [Kennedy Center Honors],' and urged the 81-year-old singer once again: 'Don't do it, Gloria!'

1310 Kitchen & Bar Adds Gourmet Market to Georgetown Cafe
is an Editorial Associate at Eater and a proud Washingtonian. She fell in love with food while growing up in Los Angeles, eating plenty of street tacos and Sichuan dishes. Chef Jenn Crovato started selling easy, healthy frozen meals during the pandemic, under the moniker Jenn's Homemade, when 1310 Kitchen & Bar's devoted diners were missing her cooking and trying to navigate expensive grocery stores. Now, her former farmers market pop-up can be found in a permanent storefront in the Georgetown restaurant's 1310 Provisions, a grab-and-go pantry filled with favorites like her frozen chicken pot pie and new fresh items, including Chinese chopped chicken salad, smoked salmon flatbread, and chicken Caesar wraps. The grab-and-go will open on Wednesday, August 20, with operating hours from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Tuesday and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday (1310 Wisconsin Avenue NW). Overnight oats can be picked up in the morning. 1310 Kitchen & Bar Crovato was inspired to open the storefront in the back of 1310 Kitchen & Bar when she heard workers in Georgetown were struggling to find easy, fast lunch options after Foxtrot and Wawa closed last year. 'There are a ton of places now where you can go in and order, and it's fast casual, but you're still standing in line, you're still waiting,' she explained, hoping to fill that hole for grab-and-go items. 1310 Kitchen & Bar is also known for its vegan items (including a delicious cinnamon roll and vegan charcuterie boards), so the small market will follow suit with flaky vegan croissants in the morning and a take-home frozen lasagna layered with ratatouille, tofu ricotta, and house-made tomato sauce. The new market will span all three essential meals. Overnight oats, cream-filled bomboloni, lattes, and seasonal juices will be available in the morning, while daily prepped salads and stacked sandwiches will be available during the lunch time rush. Crovato also hopes customers will use the grab-and-go like their own personal pantry, grabbing beet hummus or charcuterie favorites before heading to a friend's house or taking a comforting roasted chicken salad home for dinner. Prepared frozen meals from 1310 Provisions. 1310 Kitchen & Bar Georgetown's grab-and-go game got another boost this summer with the arrival of Filomena Emporium, stocked with sauces, pastas, and other pantry essentials from the 40-year-old Italian restaurant next door. Shoppers Expose Hidden Price Hikes At Major Retailers
Ever since he proposed his tariff plan on the campaign trail, economists have warned that Donald Trump's import taxes would raise prices on everyday goods for Americans. Now, we're beginning to see this come into effect. Consumer prices rose by 2.7% in July, and economists predict that the tariffs will drive higher inflation as the year goes on. Unless you keep a detailed spreadsheet of how much everything in your local store costs (and seriously, who has time for that????), it can be pretty hard to spot price changes — especially on items you don't buy often. However, over on TikTok, users are sharing some of the sneaky little red flags that a big retailer has just raised the price on an item you're looking at. One Walmart shopper showed how torn-off price tags can be a subtle sign that the price has gone up. The video starts with an unripped price tag on a pair of shorts for $11.98. Then it shows how the price has been torn off the other tags on the rack: And the "everyday low price" displayed above the rack reads $26.98. And another Walmart shopper spotted this "clearance price" that's somehow higher than the original price: In another video making the rounds, a Target shopper noticed the same trick of tearing off price tags: Plus, another one: covering the old price with a new sticker. This item is labeled as $25. But the sticker scratches off to reveal the old price: $20. And in some cases, the price on the shelf may not yet reflect the new higher price, like in this video where someone shows the price labels for items at Target, like this $50 lamp: But scanning the barcode reveals the updated price: $65. Sooo, you might wanna get in the habit of price-checking before you check out to avoid nasty surprises at the register. In the comments, people have A LOT to say about these price hikes: Have you spotted price hikes when you're shopping? Tell me what you're noticing in the comments!
