Cabinet approves vocational training, data protection, and investment initiatives
Vocational and Technical Training Bylaw
The Cabinet approved the 2025 Bylaw establishing the Vocational and Technical Education and Skills Development Support Fund. The bylaw aims to expand employment opportunities, support technical and vocational training, and finance production branches in rural and remote areas, in line with directives from King Abdullah II. Government support covers 50% of the minimum wage, social security contributions, and transport allowances.
To date, the Fund has created nearly 10,000 jobs, 95% of which benefited women in rural areas. Plans are underway to establish 8–10 new production branches over the next two years, providing an estimated 4,000–5,000 jobs. The Fund also supports youth training programs in the private sector and links institutions with job seekers to provide market-ready skills.
Personal Data Rights Bylaw and Medicinal Plant Regulation
The Cabinet approved the 2025 Bylaw regulating personal data rights, detailing procedures for consent, data processing, withdrawal, and complaint handling. The regulation strengthens protections for individuals and builds trust in digital commerce.
It also approved the rationale for a draft amendment to the 2025 Bylaw on medicinal plants, aligning with scientific and technological advances, promoting investment in medical, pharmaceutical, and scientific applications, and ensuring proper use for human health and safety.
Tourism, Investment, and Energy Projects
The Cabinet authorized the Jordanian Free Zones and Development Areas Group to complete financing for projects in Ajloun and the Dead Sea in 2025, including infrastructure for Ajloun National Park, a visitor center, public beach development, and facility rehabilitation.
It also approved a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and China's United Energy Group for feasibility studies on a green hydrogen project, focusing on green methanol production to attract investment, create jobs, and strengthen Jordan as a regional renewable energy hub.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the settlement of 419 pending cases between taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department under the law.
Administrative Appointment
Jamal Qutaishat, previously Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, was appointed Secretary-General for Technical Affairs.

U.S. Senators urge to allow international media to access Gaza
Ammon News - A group of mostly Democratic Senators urged the Trump administration Wednesday to take action over the killing of journalists in Gaza and to push Israel to guarantee press freedoms. The lawmakers, led by Senator Brian Schatz, in a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed by his Democratic colleagues including Chris Van Hollen, Jeff Merkley, Elizabeth Warren and Peter Welch as well as Independent Senator Bernie Sanders, cited a recent Israeli strike in Gaza that killed six journalists, including prominent Al Jazeera reporter Anas al-Sharif. They said Israel had 'not provided convincing evidence' for its claim that al-Sharif was a member of the Palestinian group Hamas and warned that targeting journalists 'would be a violation of international law.' 'Absent a compelling explanation of the military objective for this attack, it appears Israel is publicly admitting to targeting and killing journalists who have shown the world the scale of suffering in Gaza,' the lawmakers wrote in the letter. 'We urge you to press the Israeli government to protect journalists in Gaza and allow international media to access the territory,' they said. The senators also called on the State Department to demand that Israel allow international journalists independent access to Gaza, saying restrictions and censorship undermine US credibility. On Aug. 10, Al Jazeera journalists Anas al-Sharif and Mohamed Qraiqea were killed along with three camera operators with the network and a freelance reporter in an Israeli strike that targeted a journalists' tent near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, according to the Gaza Government Media Office. The attack brought the number of journalists killed by Israel in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023 to 238, it said. Israel has killed more than 62,100 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.
