Chief Secretary warns civil servants against joining opposition-organised rally
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar said civil servants must adhere to the pledge enshrined in the Rukun Negara.
"They cannot attend. Civil servants recite the pledge every day, every week.
"The Rukun Negara includes the principle of loyalty to the king and country... Have they forgotten? Be loyal to the king and country," he said after launching the Association of Former Students of Mara Junior Science Colleges (Ansara) Sports Carnival 2025 here today.
Also present were the Ansara president, Noor Azizee Abd Aziz, and the chief executive officer of the Ansara Sports Carnival 2025, Kamarul Bahrin Hamzah.
Shamsul Azri was responding to questions about whether any civil servants intended to join the rally.
According to earlier media reports, Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth Chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden said the rally at Dataran Merdeka is expected to draw 300,000 participants.
Kuala Lumpur Acting Police Chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad previously said police expect 10,000 to 15,000 people to attend.
He added that the organisers have informed the Dang Wangi district police headquarters about the rally.
He said some 2,000 officers and personnel will be deployed to ensure the rally runs smoothly and to safeguard the participants and the public.

According to Nga, the construction sector is reported to show robust performance with an expected growth rate of 11.0 per cent, driven primarily by non-residential and housing development projects. Meanwhile, he said the services sector is expected to grow by 5.3 per cent, up from 5.0 per cent in the previous quarter, while the manufacturing sector recorded a growth of 3.8 per cent. Nga said the overall growth expectation was driven by domestic demand, strengthened through various initiatives of the MADANI Government, including the implementation of the Basic Rahmah Contribution (SARA), Cash Rahmah Contribution (STR) and the increase in the minimum wage, which has helped increase the income and purchasing power of the people. 'However, the MADANI Government continues to be vigilant with external risks such as global trade tensions and the ongoing tariff war. 'The MADANI Government remains committed to ensuring inclusive economic growth and the well-being of all segments of the people is always guaranteed,' he said.

RON95 targeted subsidy rollout delayed
The government said in June that it would implement the targeted RON95 subsidy in stages this year. KUALA LUMPUR : The government has pushed back the deadline for the rollout of the RON95 targeted subsidies, initially fixed for the second half of this year. Government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said more time was needed to fine-tune the mechanism to prevent leakage. He also said that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim informed the MPs from Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan of the matter when he met them recently. 'He wants to ensure that the majority of the public is not adversely impacted by current policies or those that have yet to be implemented. Anwar: Go and table a no-confidence motion if you actually have the backing, Speaker won't stop you in Parliament
PUTRAJAYA, July 21 — The government will not obstruct any vote of confidence from being tabled in Parliament, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reportedly said today. New Straits Times quoted him saying he had instructed Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul to allow such a motion to proceed if submitted. 'If there is a motion today, the very first day of Parliament, I will wait for the vote of no confidence. If they have the majority, go ahead. That is our system,' he reportedly said during the Prime Minister's Department monthly assembly. He added that any move to unseat the government through unconstitutional means would be unlawful and risk destabilising the country. Malay Mail understands that so far there is no plan from the Opposition to table a no-confidence motion, despite a meeting to galvanise the disparate parties chaired by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Friday. Johari said over the weekend that the current sitting will be focusing on the 13th Malaysia Plan instead. Today's remark echoed the one Anwar made on Saturday, where he stressed that issues should be addressed comprehensively through dialogue rather than incitement or emotional appeals, including demands for his resignation.
