Former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy has broken his silence following his arrest last week in Texas, where he was charged with 'assault causes bodily injury family.' Despite the serious allegations, the 36-year-old insists that he and his family are doing well and urges the public to give them privacy.
Hardy addressed the reports in an emotional Instagram post, lashing out at what he called misleading narratives. 'Please stop spreading what these chaos machines post, they don't know any facts then fuel the fire that effects my kids and my wife,' Hardy wrote. He added, 'Things get emotional but has never and will never be what you clowns are trying to spread. I ask with all my heart please, My family and I are all perfectly fine.
Please stop spreading lies and rumors and give our family the time and space to work through it all in private.'

The statement was shared alongside images and videos that portrayed a seemingly peaceful home life—Hardy was seen kissing a woman believed to be his girlfriend, with children playing joyfully in a bounce house.
According to police in Richardson, Texas, Hardy allegedly assaulted his partner, Miranda Thorp, following an argument triggered by suspicions of infidelity.

Thorp reportedly confronted Hardy after checking his phone and accused him of cheating. This confrontation allegedly escalated into physical violence, with Thorp telling officers Hardy shoved her, pinned her down, and placed his hands around her neck.
Law enforcement noted visible injuries on Thorp that were 'consistent with a physical altercation,' including scratches and abrasions. However, Hardy told authorities that he had only moved Thorp out of his way after she poked him in the forehead.
He claimed to have grabbed her arms and placed her on the bed during the dispute.
This incident draws uncomfortable parallels to Hardy's troubled past. In 2014, he was arrested for domestic violence while playing for the Carolina Panthers. Although the charges were eventually dropped when the accuser failed to appear in court, the NFL suspended Hardy for violating the league's personal conduct policy. That suspension, initially for 10 games, was later reduced to four after an appeal.
Following a single season with the Dallas Cowboys, Hardy's NFL journey came to an abrupt end. He transitioned into combat sports, competing in both the UFC and boxing. However, his fighting career has been rocky, culminating in a knockout loss during an exhibition boxing match in late 2024.
Once regarded as a dominant defensive force in the NFL, Hardy's legacy now continues to be overshadowed by off-field controversies. With the recent arrest and serious accusations, questions again arise about the former star's conduct—and whether his plea for privacy will be respected amidst public scrutiny.

Sopo contractor overcharging at wholesale market: Trawler owners

Margao: The long-pending feud between the sopo contractor and fish-carrying vehicles entering the SGPDA wholesale fish market reached the office of the chief officer of Margao Municipal Council (MMC) on Friday, as trawler owners complained about alleged overcharging and extortion by collection agents. A delegation comprising Savio D'Silva, Jose Philip D'Souza, and other boat owners met with chief officer Melwyn Vaz to address mounting grievances against the municipality-appointed sopo contractor's collection practices at the wholesale fish market complex. The meeting comes amid ongoing tensions that previously led to clashes between fish suppliers and sopo collectors. 'Collection of sopo from vehicles bringing fish to the wholesale fish market is illegal. They can't collect sopo from vehicles which come to supply fish to the vendors,' said Savio D'Silva, a fishing trawler owner, while speaking to the media after the meeting. 'Sopo is collected by the municipality from persons doing business in its jurisdiction, and this is the practice prevalent across Goa.' D'Silva voiced concerns regarding the sopo contractor's operations, including 'exorbitant' parking fees charged to vehicles parked outside the market premises. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now 'When the vehicles are parked outside, they are charged exorbitant parking fees. No proper receipts are issued either,' he alleged. The sopo controversy has plagued Margao's municipal administration since early this year. The dispute initially emerged over unauthorised fee collection outside the SGPDA's wholesale fish market and has now evolved into a broader dispute involving tender processes and sopo collection practices. Earlier this year, the SGPDA filed a police complaint against the MMC-appointed sopo contractor for unauthorised fee collection outside the SGPDA wholesale fish market complex. Municipal councillors have also raised concerns about irregularities in the sopo tender process and alleged overcharging of vendors. The chief officer assured the trawler owners of convening a meeting of the sopo contractor and boat owners soon to address their grievances and find a resolution to the dispute.
