Son Del North Mexican restaurant hosted the Pedro Pascal look-alike contest on the occasion of Father's Day.
After Timothee Chalamet and BTS' Jungkook, New Yorkers have now come together for Pedro Pascal's look-alike contest. The event took place on the streets outside Son Del North Mexican restaurant on the Lower East Side on the occasion of Father's Day on Sunday, June 15. People flocked in to see who among the 30 contestants looked similar to the Last of Us and Game of Thrones actor.
Out of all the contestants, Pedro #5, a Brooklyn-based man named George Gountas, turned out to be the winner. People who gathered at the location thought he looked the most like Pedro Pascal. George works as a lighting designer on the sets of The Daily Show. While he did not want to join the contest, he agreed to take part once his wife, Jenny Gania, convinced him.
While speaking with the New York Post, Jenny revealed that people started saying that her husband looked like the 50-year-old Chilean-born actor back when Game of Thrones was popular. 'It started when the 'Game of Thrones' came out the first time — that's when we first heard it. Then some kids started noting it, too, so I was like when we saw this [contest], I was like, 'It's Father's Day. You have to go. It's going to be your Father's Day treat,'" said Jenny. She also pointed out that her husband is not on social media, but thanks to the competition, 'Now he's going to be everywhere."
George Gountas became the internet's daddy on Father's Day as he was crowned winner of the Lower East Side's Pedro Pascal look-alike contest. In addition to winning $50 and a year's supply of burritos, he posed the finalists. (@jameskleinmann / Instagram) pic.twitter.com/S6F4SdA2zw

George ended up winning $50 and a supply of burritos for a year from the Mexican restaurant Son Del North Mexican, which hosted the contest. The restaurant's chef and co-owner, Annisha Garcia, told the aforementioned media portal that the idea for the contest came after Pedro Pascal had previously talked about how there is no good Mexican restaurant in New York City.
I'm, 'So sorry, but there's no Mexican, good Mexican food in New York?' And we were like, 'There is, and we are here,'" she said. Meanwhile, the restaurant's co-owner, Wim Shih, mentioned that the idea behind the look-alike contest was to bring smiles to people's faces during such troubled times.
Speaking of the actor himself, the 50-year-old was most recently seen on the second season of The Last of Us and in the rom-com Materialists, co-starring Chris Evans and Dakota Johnson.

Taylor Swift's $1.6 billion net worth to see massive gains? All about singer's 'masters deal'

Taylor Swift's net worth is poised for a major boost after the singer announced she now owns the original masters of her first six studio albums. The May 30 revelation marks a turning point in her financial empire, as full ownership of Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation gives her exclusive control over licensing, royalties, and future earnings. Experts say this strategic move could add hundreds of millions to her already billion-dollar fortune. Also Read: Hailey Bieber's cold shoulder on Justin Bieber's first Father's Day fuels rumors of rift According to Billboard, Swift reportedly paid around $360 million to regain ownership of her original recordings. However, experts told the news outlet that despite the steep price, the move is financially sound, as the long-term income from licensing and royalties is expected to far outweigh the initial cost. According to Larry Miller, executive director of the Sony Audio Institute for Music Business and Technology, the Bad Blood singer's ownership of her six original masters will significantly boost her 'take-home pay.' He explained to Newsweek that with full control over licensing her original recordings for films, TV shows, and commercials, the singer stands to generate even more revenue. He continued, 'Under Braun's and Shamrock's ownership, Taylor declined requests to license the original masters for film and TV. Now they'll be licensed, and the old, much-loved masters will generate revenue for the rest of her life—and beyond." Miller added, 'aylor has a powerful, trusted relationship with hundreds of millions of fans, and she can reignite interest in those six albums in a way that no other artist, company or investor can." Drew Nobile is an associate professor of Music Theory at the University of Oregon, who revealed to the news outlet, 'Swift's music catalog generates over $100 million per year from streaming alone, and of course, that will increase now that Swift owns the rights to her earlier recordings as well. The question is, how long it will take for her to recoup the reported amount of $360 million she paid for those rights.' Tatiana Cirisano, vice president of Music Strategy at MIDiA Research, noted that Swift's buyback of her masters unlocks multiple new 'revenue streams.' He added, 'She will absolutely see her take-home income increase, although I can't currently speculate by how much." Joe Bennett, a forensic musicologist and professor at Berklee College of Music, echoed similar views, as he added, 'Reacquiring the masters will almost certainly increase her income, and may well repay the reported $360 million investment.' Ravi Mohan's estranged wife Aarti Ravi opens up about ‘the first man to love me' and his influence on her sons: ‘I now see what I once took for granted'

Following months of controversies and verbal spats on social media, the situation has somewhat calmed down for Aarti Ravi, the estranged wife of Tamil actor Ravi Mohan. As she finally embraces her status as a single parent, Aarti is ensuring that her two sons never feel a dearth of love or compassion. And in this journey, it appears she is not alone and has the expert support of 'the man who loved me first'. Recently, Aarti took to social media to share with the world the impact her father, Krishnamurthy Vijaykumar, has had on her life. She also emphasised that he now plays an equally significant role in her children's lives. On the occasion of Father's Day, she penned a heartfelt note dedicated to him, reflecting on how he has always stood by her with 'no noise, no praise'. In a carousel post, she shared a photo of the two of them together, along with a short video of him spending time with her sons, Aarav and Ayaan. Aarti wrote, 'When so much around me felt unsure, you were the one thing that wasn't. There were days I didn't know how I'd get through. But you were there. You didn't ask what to do. You just stood by me — calm, steady, and strong.' No noise, no praise — just you, being there.' Opening up about the influence he has on her children, Aarti added, 'They say children mirror what they see. And while my boys are still figuring out the world, I know they're learning something important: What it looks like to be loved without conditions. You didn't just raise me. You're raising them too — in all the ways that truly matter.' Assuring her father that she will recover from her struggles and find herself again, Aarti wrote: 'And Daddy… I know I'm not the same girl you once let go with hope in your eyes. Life has tested me in ways none of us expected. I know you'd want her back — just the way she was. I'm trying. And I promise — I'll find her again. I'll come back as your little girl.' A post shared by Aarti Ravi (@ A post shared by Krishnamurthy Vijaykumar (@krishnamurthyvijaykumar) A post shared by Aarti Ravi (@ After 15 years of marriage, Ravi Mohan announced his separation from Aarti in September 2024. Since then, speculation has been rife that he is dating singer-spiritual healer Keneesha Francis, although neither has confirmed the rumours. Last month, Aarti claimed she was facing 'home eviction' and was left alone to care for her children. 'My children are 10 and 14. They deserve security, not shock. Stability, not silence. They are too young to understand legal clauses, but old enough to feel abandonment. Every unanswered call, every cancelled meeting, every cold message meant for me but read by them – these are just not oversights. They are wounds,' she wrote. Dismissing her claims, Ravi responded by saying he felt 'stabbed in the chest'. 'What breaks me most is seeing my children used as tools in public narrative rooted in financial gain, and to sway public sympathy, while I have been deliberately kept away from them since our separation. I have only decided in full knowledge and understanding of my past circumstances to leave my ex-wife and not my kids. My children are my eternal pride and happiness, and I will do all things better than the best for the two boys I live my life for,' he shared.
