The MoU with Griffith Foods outlines plans to develop a dedicated production and R&D facility in Saudi Arabia for 100% halal food ingredients—including sauces, seasonings, and spice blends—tailored to the tastes of Saudi and regional consumers. The project will support local manufacturing and help position the Kingdom as a regional hub for halal ingredient production. As the halal industry increasingly emphasizes ethical sourcing, sustainability, and innovation, Tanmiah stands at the forefront of this transformation.

Perak goes big in agri-food sector

The Mentri Besar said recognising the need for a skilled and future-ready workforce, the state has rolled out various technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes focused on agriculture. Among these are the TVET Madani Agricultural Certificate Programme at Titi Gantong Agricultural Institute. Other key institutions include the Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Fisheries College in Lumut, which specialises in aquaculture and seafood processing, and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) which offers a Master's in TVET Agricultural Science Education to develop future agricultural educators. 'Today's agriculture requires more than fieldwork,' Saarani said in his speech at the closing of the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) Fest 2025 at the Rural Transformation Centre (RTC) in Gopeng. He said Perak required agropreneurs who understood digital marketing, green technology, innovation and data analytics. To attract youth into the sector, he said the government was also promoting agrotourism and hands-on agricultural education, working with local farms, cooperatives, and processing centres. 'These initiatives aim to spark interest among younger generations while diversifying rural economic opportunities. 'The transformation strategy also includes the development of the Perak Halal Industrial Park (HIP) in Lekir. 'The integrated hub is home to halal food processors, livestock product manufacturers and a modern logistics network. 'It's expected to draw substantial domestic and foreign investments, especially in processed food, halal biotechnology and frozen food exports,' he added. Saarani said Perak was also pushing for the adoption of smart farming technologies including automation, sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) to improve productivity and efficiency. He said assistance was being provided through technology incentives, digitalisation support, and logistics upgrades in collaboration with research agencies such as Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute (Mardi) and Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI). 'To ensure inclusive growth, the government is also empowering community-based models involving village cooperatives, women farmer groups and micro-entrepreneur networks. 'These efforts are designed to ensure fair income distribution and collective advancement of rural communities. KUALA LUMPUR: U Mobile has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with OCK Group Bhd's subsidiary, OCK Telco Infra Sdn Bhd, for its nationwide Next Gen 5G rollout. In a statement today, U Mobile said OCK will become one of U Mobile's preferred 5G In-Building Coverage (IBC) infrastructure partners for the rollout. It said this collaboration represents another critical milestone in U Mobile's Next Gen 5G network deployment, especially in delivering a superior 5G performance in high-traffic indoor environments. U Mobile chief technology officer Woon Ooi Yuen said as Malaysia's Next Gen 5G network provider, the company is committed to empowering consumers and enterprises through reliable, ultra-fast connectivity. Woon said this partnership with OCK further enhances our ability to deliver that promise, especially in indoor and high-density environments. Golf-DeChambeau not seeking LIV Golf exit: 'they see the value in me'

DeChambeau joined LIV in 2022 and his future with the Saudi-backed circuit has been the source of speculation, with some suggesting the two-times major champion turned down a proposal for a new contract and is looking to return to the PGA Tour. But DeChambeau, speaking to reporters at Oakmont Country Club ahead of his U.S. Open title defence this week, said he feels the team element of LIV Golf is a viable option and one he wants to be a part of. "We're looking to negotiate end of this year, and I'm very excited," said DeChambeau, who is captain of LIV Golf's Crushers GC. "They see the value in me. I see the value in what they can provide, and I believe we'll come to some sort of resolution on that. Super excited for the future." LIV Golf, which features no-cut, 54-hole events, held its inaugural event in June 2022, and through mega-money contracts and lucrative purses has lured some of golf's biggest names. The PGA Tour and Saudi backers of rival LIV Golf have yet to reach an official deal that would unite the game of golf despite agreeing to a "framework agreement" two years ago to merge and form one unified commercial entity. "I think that LIV is not going anywhere," said DeChambeau, who headlines the list of 14 LIV Golf players in the U.S. Open field this week. "(Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan) has been steadfast in his belief on team golf, and whether everybody believes in it or not, I think it's a viable option. I think it's a viable commercial option." DeChambeau said he feels there is a "sustainable model" for team golf. "Our team has been EBITDA positive for the past two years, so we're starting to grow and move in the right direction, just like TGL," said DeChambeau. "TGL has done a great job. They've got some teams that are making some money, and I believe there is a sustainable model out there." TGL is a tech-infused indoor golf league created by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy that held its first season earlier this year and featured players hitting shots at a simulator screen before moving to a green that can rotate 360 degrees, creating hole-to-hole variations. "How it all works with the game of golf, who knows, but I know my worth. I know what LIV brings to the table," DeChambeau added. "And I'm excited for the future of what golf is going to be."
