GOF Seizes Untaxed Cigarettes Worth Over RM2 Mln
IPOH, May 28 (Bernama) -- The 2nd Battalion General Operations Force (GOF) in Kulim, Kedah, has successfully seized 6,100 cartons of various brands of illicit cigarettes worth more than RM2 million (RM2,014,600).
Ulu Kinta GOF Northern Brigade Commander SAC Shahrum Hashim said the enforcement operation was carried out at Kilometre 139.9 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound near the Penang Bridge interchange exit.
"The results of an investigation found that the supply of cigarettes was brought from the south of the country to be distributed to the northern state market.

Orang Asli woman injured in fiery highway crash
IPOH: An Orang Asli woman was injured when her motorcycle caught fire in a crash involving two other vehicles on the highway this morning. The crash happened at KM342 of the North-South Expressway near Sungkai. The 25-year-old sustained minor injuries, including a broken arm and cuts to several parts of her body. She was taken to Tapah Hospital for treatment. Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said an emergency call was received at 6.51am, and six firefighters were dispatched to the scene. "Upon arrival, we found that the fire involved a Yamaha LC motorcycle, which had collided with two cars — a Proton Waja and a Toyota Altis," he said in a statement today. He said the team applied the RECEO method— rescue, exposure, confinement, extinguishment, and overhaul — to bring the fire under control. The operation ended at 7.38am. — BERNAMA

Couple and siblings killed in Jerantut crash laid to rest
BOTA: The remains of five victims who perished in a two-vehicle crash at KM 7, Jalan Jerantut-Maran, Pahang, on Saturday (June 6) were laid to rest in a single grave at the Kampung Selat Muslim Cemetery in Bota Kanan here early on Sunday (June 7). The bodies of Mohamad Ikmal Ishak, 26, and his wife Nur Arfiqah Aziz Jaafar, 23, along with Nur Arfiqah's younger siblings-Mohammad Zulkifli, 21, Mohamad Azizul Hakimi, 19, and Nurul Hazwani, 17-were transported from Jerantut, Pahang, and arrived at the Bota Kanan Jamek Mosque for funeral prayers at about 12.30am. Perak State Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee chairman Khairudin Abu Hanipah was also present at the mosque. A somber atmosphere enveloped the cemetery during the burial, which was attended by family members, relatives, and friends. All five victims were laid to rest at about 1.45am. Earlier, Jerantut District Police chief Supt Zukri Muhammad confirmed the incident involved a Perodua Bezza and a Toyota Alphard at around midnight on Friday. - Bernama
