Salini is also in the process of completing the structural engineering for all the Diriyah Square assets above ground, including the Retail, Hotels, Branded Residences, Offices and Grand Mosque.
The contract for the development of the retail district includes building 73 individual buildings and 400 shell and core retail units over a built-up area of 365,340sq m and includes the facades, finishes and fit-outs of the units.
Every building will use traditional Najdi architectural design themes to create a unique pedestrianized retail environment in the heart of Diriyah reflecting 300-years of history and heritage.

Alat, TK Elevator get key regulatory approvals for $186mln Saudi JV
Alat, a unit of Saudi sovereign wealth fund PIF, and TK Elevator (TKE), a global leader in vertical transportation and urban mobility, today (August 5) confirmed receipt of all statutory and regulatory approvals required to close their €160 million ($186.3 million) joint venture (JV) and Alat's 15% equity investment in TKE. These approvals mark the completion of the intent first announced in February 2025. The JV will be headquartered in Saudi Arabia and will, over time, locally manufacture elevators, escalators and moving walks for the kingdom and the wider Mena market. Supported by a local product-development center, it will be the first elevator and escalator manufacturing operation in Saudi Arabia by a global company, fully aligned with PIF's economic-diversification agenda. The JV will also act as TKE's sales and service entity in Saudi Arabia. TKE will contribute advanced technology, manufacturing expertise and world-class safety methodology. The JV will serve as an innovation hub, featuring a product-development center and a training facility that complements TKE's SEED Campus. Together, TKE and the JV will create a regional International Technical Services team to provide technical support and third-party maintenance under the TKE Universal Service proposition. On the key approvals, Amit Midha, CEO of Alat, said: "Today's announcement marks a decisive step in positioning Saudi Arabia as a global center for advanced manufacturing. Our partnership with TK Elevator will localise cutting-edge mobility technology, create high-value skilled jobs, and cultivate world-class expertise within Saudi talent, further strengthening Saudi Arabia's emerging advanced manufacturing cluster." "Together, we will power the Kingdom's giga-projects and export sustainable innovation throughout the region. This partnership will fulfill Vision 2030 and advance Alat's mandate to build a world-class manufacturing hub for advanced technologies. Paving the way for future collaborations that support this ambition," he stated. Uday Yadav, CEO of TK Elevator, said: "Finalising the joint venture and welcoming Alat as a long-term shareholder positions TK Elevator to meet surging demand for innovative mobility solutions during Saudi Arabia's development super-cycle and beyond." "We are excited to deepen this multi-dimensional partnership and shape the smart cities of the future together," he stated. This TK Elevator transaction, he said, was the third strategic deal Alat has completed, following the finalisation of its SoftBank and Lenovo partnerships, underscoring the company's mandate to become a global hub for advanced, sustainable manufacturing. "Through such partnerships, Alat is accelerating localisation, technology transfer and export-led growth from Saudi Arabia to the world," he added.- TradeArabia News Service Copyright 2025 Al Hilal Publishing and Marketing Group Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. Hank Hill is alive and well ... and back from a stint at Saudi Aramco
While recent headlines about Saudi Aramco focus on the oil company's second-quarter financial results, the oil giant is also receiving attention for a reference in the revival of popular US show King of the Hill. The animated show, which ran on network television from 1997 to 2009, has returned – this time to streaming platform Hulu – after more than 15 years. The show, which quickly gained popularity in the late 1990s, portrays blue-collar conservative man Hank Hill and his family, living in the traditional, albeit changing fictional town of Arlen, Texas, where he proudly sells propane and propane accessories. In the first episode of the revival, Hank said he has just returned from spending several years working in Saudi Arabia. 'I was the assistant manager in charge of Arabian propane and Arabian propane accessories for the Aramco,' Hank tells a man as he travels home after a long flight to Texas. As Hank's wife, Peggy, speaks with passengers on a plane, we learn that the they've been living in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where Saudi Aramco's headquarters is located and which contains a community consisting of Saudi Aramco workers from overseas. Peggy tells the passengers that Hank became a big fan of hummus and falafel while living overseas, and there is a flashback of what life was like for the Hills in Saudi Arabia. For a show that spent its original run portraying the quirks and idiosyncrasies of a middle-class Texas family, the first episode of the revival referring to the Hills' time spent in Saudi Arabia might come as a surprise, but given the size of the energy industry in Texas, the idea is firmly in the realm of possibility. According to Saudi Aramco's website, its US-based company, Aramco America, has more than 500 employees working in the country, and consists of three Aramco research centres in Boston, Detroit and Houston. 'Our history in the US dates back more than 70 years,' reads the company's biography page, which also highlights Saudi Aramco's 'first international downstream joint venture' with US oil brand Texaco in 1989. That joint venture, according to Aramco, eventually led to the company owning North America's largest crude oil refinery in Texas. Globally, Saudi Aramco employs more than 75,000 people, and through the King of the Hill revival, that now includes Hank Hill of Arlen, Texas.

Asian Paints launches world's first internal curing concrete additive in UAE
Image: Asian Paints 'With CureAssure, we're not just launching a product; we're redefining a foundational step in construction. This innovation reflects our commitment to sustainable solutions that work in the real world,' said Joseph Eapen, CEO of Asian Paints. Joseph Eapen, CEO of Asian Paints Curing is one of the most critical but often overlooked phases in concrete construction, influencing structural strength and durability. In the Middle East, this step is frequently compromised by extreme temperatures, labour constraints, and compressed project timelines. These site challenges often result in shrinkage cracks and reduced long-term performance. Asian Paints' CureAssure addresses these issues by introducing internal curing directly into the concrete mix. The additive enables hydration to occur from within, eliminating the need for external water or surface curing compounds. This approach reduces plastic shrinkage and cracking, ensures greater durability, and guarantees consistency across varying site conditions. It also aligns the performance of on-site concrete with laboratory-tested standards — a vital requirement for real-world reliability. 'Developing CureAssure meant rethinking curing from the inside out,' said Amit DasGupta, chief senior manager – Technology, AP Global. 'Rather than treating symptoms on the surface, we focused on solving the root cause, by embedding water availability directly where it's needed. The result is a more robust, reliable concrete structure, regardless of the environment it's placed in.' CureAssure has received approval from Dubai Municipality and validation from ICC-ES. Free of hazardous substances, it is compatible with all types of Portland cement, pozzolanic blends, and both water-reducing (WR) and set-retarding (SR) admixtures. The additive meets globally recognised standards including ACI 308 guidelines for internal curing, ACI 318 structural durability provisions, ASTM C494/C494M Type S, and EN 934-2 European admixture compatibility norms. Aligned with the UAE Water Security Strategy 2036, CureAssure's elimination of external curing also removes the need for desalinated water in the construction process. Asian Paints estimates that the water saved annually could fill 3,200 Olympic-sized swimming pools, irrigate over 6,000 acres of desert farmland, or meet the monthly water needs of 450,000 households. The solution also contributes to low-carbon, zero-waste construction practices by reducing the need for water transport, on-site manpower, and curing-related emissions. With over 80 years of expertise in coatings and construction materials, Asian Paints is among the top two paint companies in Asia and operates 26 manufacturing plants across 15 countries. The launch of CureAssure represents a strategic expansion of its regional footprint and underscores the company's commitment to delivering smarter, safer, and more sustainable infrastructure solutions across the GCC.
