Biden aides were willing to do ‘undemocratic things' to keep faltering president in power: ‘Original Sin' author
Biden's team of unelected staffers felt justified in 'picking up the slack' for the faltering commander in chief and shielding him from the public because they viewed President Trump as an 'existential threat' to democracy, Alex Thompson, co-author of 'Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,' told Fox News' Shannon Bream.

'Who would have been running the White House in a second Biden term?' Bream asked Thompson, after noting that he quoted a long-time Biden aide in his book 'basically admitting he shouldn't be running again.'
'Well, this person went on to say that when you're voting for a president, you're voting for the aides around him,' the author and Axios journalist revealed.
'But these aides were not even Senate-confirmed aides,' Thompson pointed out. 'These are White House aides, these were unelected people.'

Bream highlighted a passage from Thompson's book, where one anonymous aide argued Biden 'just had to win, and then he could disappear for four years. He'd only have to show proof of life every once in a while … His aides could pick up the slack.'
Thompson explained that in his reporting for the book with co-author Jake Tapper, it became clear that many in Biden's orbit were willing to go to extreme lengths if it meant keeping Trump out of the Oval Office.
'If you believe — and I think a lot of these people do sincerely believe that Donald Trump was and is an existential threat to democracy — you can rationalize anything, including sometimes doing undemocratic things, which I think is what this person is talking about,' Thompson told Bream.

In his book, Thompson referred to the small group of people in Biden's inner circle running the White House as the 'Politburo,' noting that the term was also used by some within the administration.
The small, tight-knit group included top Biden aides Mike Donilon, Steve Ricchetti and Bruce Reed, as well as first lady Jill Biden and the president's scandal-scarred son, Hunter.
Thompson claims the 'politburo' were the 'ultimate decision-makers' as Biden's mental acuity declined.
The term 'politburo' is commonly defined as the top echelon of a communist state.

Unredacted texts show Jeanine Pirro praising Trump, blasting Hannity while at Fox
Text messages sent in 2020 by Jeanine Pirro, the former Fox News host and new top prosecutor in Washington, D.C., show her bragging about helping President Trump ahead of the election and blasting Fox colleague Sean Hannity. 'I work so hard for the party across the country… I'm the # 1 watched show on all news cable all weekend. I work so hard for the President and party,' Pirro texted the then-head of the RNC, Ronna McDaniel, in September 2020. The text messages, which were first reported by the Washington Post, were unredacted and submitted in court by voting systems company Smartmatic as part of its ongoing litigation against the network over its coverage of the 2020 election. In another text message, sent in October of that year, Pirro wrote about an Oval Office meeting with Trump and complained about Hannity. 'Sean [Hannity] is an egomaniac. I was in the Oval with Hariri talking to POTUS,' she wrote. 'He storms in like he owns the place, throws his papers on the Pres desk and says, you don't mind if I use your private bathroom, and walks into bathroom within Oval and uses it. Looks at me and says, I got to talk to him. Ie, you go. It's all abt him, period. No one else matters.' Pirro, a firebrand political commentator and close ally of the president, left Fox earlier this year when Trump tapped her to serve as U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C. She has vowed to help the president crack down on crime in the district and blasted community activists and Democrats who have pushed back on the president's anti-crime efforts. Pirro is among the Fox hosts whom Smartmatic has alleged in court documents knowingly promoted Trump's false claims about voter fraud and defamed the company with criticism of its software, which the president and his allies were pushing. Fox has countered in legal filings and public statements that it was merely covering newsworthy allegations of an improper election being pushed by the president and his allies, and has argued Smartmatic is inflating its valuation. The network has also highlighted allegations of bribery and money laundering that executives at Smartmatic has faced in recent months. 'The evidence shows that Smartmatic's business and reputation were badly suffering long before any claims by President Trump's lawyers on Fox News and that Smartmatic grossly inflated its damage claims to generate headlines and chill free speech,' the network said in a statement to The Hill. 'Now, in the aftermath of Smartmatic's executives getting indicted for bribery charges, we are eager and ready to continue defending our press freedoms.' Smartmatic Case Documents Show Some Fox News Hosts' Drive to Help Trump
Prominent Fox hosts privately sought to help President Trump's efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election, according to newly unredacted documents in a lawsuit against Fox. Smartmatic sued Fox News and its parent Fox Corp. FOXA 0.89%increase; green up pointing triangle in 2021 for defamation, alleging the network promoted false claims that its voting machines helped rig the election. The documents show at least two Fox hosts were in touch with Sidney Powell, a lawyer at the center of Trump's postelection efforts, and one urged her to come on air.
