Iran Israel war impact on Gold price today: Gold rate losing against USD dollar

Time of India5 hours ago

Iran-Israel war on Monday cast a shadow on gold prices as the US dollar was performing strongly. The middle-east conflict pushed Gold rate higher but the gains were limited. Spot gold was up 0.1 per cent at $3,369.80 an ounce. The US gold futures were steady at $3,385.90. The US dollar firmed 0.6 per cent against its peers, limiting gains for gold as it makes the metal more expensive for holders of other currencies. Gold tends to perform well in low-interest-rate environments and during periods of uncertainty.
Gold briefly surged to USD 3,413.80 per ounce on Monday but has since pulled back, as investors await Iran's response following US participation in the air strikes on Tehran. This came as stock markets closely watched for any Iranian response to US strikes on its nuclear sites.
"Continued and multiple geopolitical uncertainties will likely continue to underpin gold prices. The prospect of a Fed rate cut delay amid higher energy prices potentially strengthening the dollar calls for patience with a fresh record high not on the immediate horizon," said Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank.

Cacora waste plant soon to be fully operational

Panaji: Goa Waste Management Corporation cleared the hurdles to enable the full-capacity operation of the solid waste management plant at Cacora to reduce the burden on the garbage treatment plant at Saligao. A senior officer said that at present, the plant is operating at 70% capacity, and it will soon reach its 100% capacity. For that, all the waste generated in and around the plant will be shifted to the plant. Waste from four talukas — Quepem, Curchorem, Canacona, and Dharbandara — will be treated at the plant by procuring additional vehicles. A senior officer said that govt promised to use specialised vehicles to transport the waste to the plant to avoid slippage of leachate on the road while transporting the waste. 'We decided to add additional vehicles so that the waste generated in South Goa is shifted to the Cacora plant to meet its full capacity,' a senior officer said. The 100 TPD (tonne per day) solid waste treatment plant at Cacora started functioning but never reached its full operational capacity. The solid waste management facility was set up under the aegis of the department of science, technology and waste management and the GWMC. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trading CFD dengan Teknologi dan Kecepatan Lebih Baik IC Markets Mendaftar Undo It was set up on the site of an erstwhile waste dump and covers an area of approximately 81,000sqm. The legacy waste dump was removed using bioremediation to make way for the construction of the Rs 173 crore plant. The plant was constructed along the lines of the Saligao plant, and the design was upgraded to take into account the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, and learnings from the shortcomings of the Saligao plant. The plant will have separate lines for wet and dry waste, with the organic extruder being the heart of the system. The design and technical parameters of the plant were vetted by an expert committee. New special vehicles will be procured to transport the waste to the plant without any leachate dripping on the road, which was the main reason for the plant not operating at full capacity.

Flight path obstacles at Gadchiroli airport site prompts state to look for alternative

Nagpur: Too many obstacles in the flight path and prospects of further vertical growth in Gadchiroli city, given the development push, has prompted the state govt to look for an alternative site for its plan to build an airport in the Maoist-affected district. The Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) had planned the airport close to Gadchiroli city. The initial site covered four villages: Murkhada, Pulkhal, Kanori and Mudhja. MADC was appointed as the agency to acquire 229 acres of land for the project after the initial study was completed. The study revealed that there were a number of obstacles in the flight path, including building of an educational institute, a high-tension line, and a power plant chimney. If a flight path avoiding the obstacles was fixed at the same site, it would have increased the project cost by at least Rs150 crore, said sources. Rather, it is now decided to look for an alternative site. The city is expected to grow in the coming days, and the structures that come up may further obstruct the operations, said a source who is part of the project. A senior official in the district administration confirmed the development. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! IC Markets Start Now Undo MADC has intimated that a fresh site needs to be searched for the proposed airport. Now, a site slightly away from the city is being considered. Last week, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis issued directions to hold an obstacle limitation survey (OLS) for the airport. A source said this was meant for the fresh site. It would follow a pre-feasibility study of the airport at the new site. An airport has been proposed at Gadchiroli in view of the development in the district. Recently, Jindal Group announced plans to build the country's biggest integrated steel plant in the district. Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL), which operates an iron ore mine, also commissioned a 4 million tonnes pellet-making plant. This is part of LMEL's plans to build an integrated steel plant too. The third company, Surjagad Ispat, also plans to build a steel plant in south Gadchiroli. As per the airport plan, a 2,500-meter airstrip will be laid so that commercial planes can land in Gadchiroli. Having an airport will do away with the need for investors or businessmen to travel to Nagpur and take a road journey further to Gadchiroli, a source said. The four villages where the airport was earlier planned come under the Panchayats (Extension To Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA). The law gives autonomy to gram sabhas (village councils) on decisions related to the area. This means gram sabha approval would have been needed even for the airport.

Oil prices plunge over 6% after Iran's missile strike on US base in Qatar

Oil prices sank more than 6 per cent Monday after Iran attacked a US military base in neighboring Qatar in retaliation for US weekend strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities read more A pumpjack operates at the Vermilion Energy site in Trigueres, France, on June 14, 2024. Reuters File Oil prices sank more than six percent Monday after Iran attacked a US military base in neighboring Qatar in retaliation for US weekend strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Near 1815 GMT, futures for West Texas Intermediate fell 6.5 per cent to $69.96 a barrel, while Brent oil futures dropped 6.4 per cent to $72.07 a barrel, its lowest level in 10 days. A US defence official said there were no known American casualties from the incident, which analysts said did not appear to be near key oil infrastructure. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD John Kilduff of Again Capital described the Iranian action as 'somewhat measured' and apart from population centers. 'This is a face-saving measure by the Iranians and hopefully the diplomatic off-ramp will be taken,' Kilduff said. The Iran-Israel clash has focused worry on the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway for seaborne oil that has long been used by Iran as a geopolitical bargaining chip. Tehran has for decades threatened to close the strait every time tensions soared, but never acted on its warning. But Kilduff said, 'it's pretty clear that this is not going to turn into – right away at least – any kind of impact on oil flows in the region, particularly the Strait of Hormuz.'
