PM to launch projects worth Rs 13,000 crore tomorrow
The projects which PM Modi will launch from Gaya belong to roads, power, health, urban development and water supply. Modi will also flag off Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi and the Buddhist circuit train between Vaishali and Koderma.
After addressing a public meeting at Gaya around 11am, PM Modi will visit Simaria to inaugurate the 8.15-km-long Aunta-Simaria bridge project on NH-31, which includes the 1.86-km-long six-lane bridge on the Ganga river, constructed at a cost of over Rs 1,870 crore.
It will provide direct connectivity between Mokama in Patna and Begusarai.
NHAI regional officer M L Yoetkar said they had to face immense challenges during the bridge's construction. "This is a low-lying area, prone to annual floods. Construction work is possible only during seven-eight months every year. It is the country's widest extra-dosed bridge designed with a single segmental structure having a 34-metre-wide deck over the Ganga.

With span lengths ranging from 57 m to 115 m and 70 m cantilever arms, the structure exemplifies engineering excellence," he said.
RCD minister Nitin Nabin on Wednesday visited the bridge parallel to the two-lane rail-cum-road bridge, Rajendra Setu. He reviewed the preparations for the inaugural function at Simaria where PM Modi will also see the Simaria ghat before flying to Kolkata to inaugurate the new metro train services the same day.
"This is the widest bridge in Asia with a width of 34 meters. It is based on 18 pillars and has three-lane roads on both sides. A 100-metre wide rotary (Zero Mile) towards Aunta and an 80-metre-wide rotary towards Simaria have been built and given the shape of a park. Plantation has been done around these parks and bridges for greenery," Nitin said.
Simaria Ghat was redeveloped by the Nitish Kumar govt recently.
The new bridge will reduce the extra travel distance of more than 100 km for the heavy vehicles plying between north Bihar (Begusarai, Supaul, Madhubani, Purnia, Araria) and south Bihar (Sheikhpura, Nawada, Lakhisarai).
PM Modi will also inaugurate the four-lane Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama section of NH-31 built with around Rs 1,900 crore.
Modi will also inaugurate Buxar Thermal Power Plant (660x1 MW) built at the cost of Rs 6,880 crore. The plant will meet the growing electricity demand of the region.
In order to boost health infrastructure, PM Modi will inaugurate the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre at Muzaffarpur. The centre has advanced oncology OPD, IPD wards, operation theatres, modern lab, blood bank and a 24-bed ICU and HDU.
As part of his Swachh Bharat Mission and ensuring unhindered flow of the Ganga river, PM Modi will inaugurate the sewerage treatment plant (STP) and sewerage network at Munger worth over Rs 520 crore and constructed under the Namami Gange project to reduce pollution load in the Ganga and improve sanitation facilities in the region.
The PM will also lay the foundation stone for a series of urban infrastructure projects worth around Rs 1,260 crore.
These include the STP and sewerage network at Daudnagar in Aurangabad and Jehanabad; STP and interception and diversion work at Barahiya in Lakhisarai and Jamui districts.
Under AMRUT 2.0 programme, he will lay the foundation stone for water supply projects at Aurangabad, Bodh Gaya and Jehanabad.
The PM will also symbolically hand over the keys to 12,000 rural beneficiaries under PMAY-Gramin and 4,260 beneficiaries under PMAY-Urban at the 'Grih Pravesh' ceremony.
PM's visit to Gaya is politically crucial for the NDA as the alliance underperformed in the region both in the 2020 assembly elections and the 2024 parliamentary polls.
The area, having 26 assembly and four Lok Sabha seats, is politically important and it is expected that his visit would boost the morale of NDA workers.
In 2020, JD(U) could not win even one of the 26 seats in the five districts of the Magadh division. However, the performance of HAM(S) was much better in the Magadh division in 2020, as it won three of the 10 seats it contested.
The good performance partially reduced the impact of embarrassment caused by HAM(S) founder Jitan Ram Manjhi's shock defeat in the Makhdumpur assembly segment of Jehanabad district. However, Manjhi, who contested two seats, won from Imamganj.
NDA leaders, including Lav Singh, a prominent JD(U) leader of the Magadh division, and BJP leader Akhauri Niranjan, are hopeful that the performance of the NDA would be much better compared to 2020.
The NDA leadership of the Magadh division is hopeful of repeating the 2010 assembly election performance when the alliance virtually swept the assembly polls in the area.
During his visit, PM Modi will lay foundations and inaugurate several development projects, giving the NDA an opportunity to project both governance and intent ahead of the upcoming poll battles.
Leaders of the alliance in Magadh believe that the PM's presence will not only energise the cadre, but also help the NDA reclaim its lost ground in a region once considered its stronghold.

Govt raises ₹1.42 lakh cr via asset monetisation till FY25
New Delhi, Aug 21 (PTI) The government has raised ₹ 1,42,758 crore through different modes of asset monetisation up to FY25, Parliament was informed on Thursday. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha, said the projected financial contribution of asset monetisation for the current fiscal year is ₹ 30,000 crore. The government monetises highway assets through three modes – Toll Operate & Transfer (ToT), Infrastructure Investment Trust (InvIT), and Securitization (Project based financing through SPV). Responding to another question, Gadkari said since inception of the Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme, 2025 (Scheme) pilot programme in six states and Union Territories with effect from March 2024, as many as 4,971 road accident victims have been treated till 31st July, 2025. Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme, 2025 (Scheme) has been notified on a pan-India basis. Under this scheme any person who is a victim of road accident caused by the use of a motor vehicle shall be entitled to treatment cover up to ₹ 1.5 lakh per victim, subject to a maximum cap of 7 days from the date of accident at any designated hospital across the country. Also, responding to a different question, he said as per data available on VAHAN portal as on 12th August 2025, the total number of High Security Registration Plates affixed on vehicles was 20,16,32,06. The minister also said as on August 12, 2025, a total of 2,76,990 vehicles have been scrapped at Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs). Under ToT Mode, open market bids are invited. Road stretches are awarded for a concession period (15-30 years) to the highest bidder, which must be above the reserve price. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has formed National Highways Infra Trust (NHIT). NHAI offers stretches to NHIT for 15-30 year of concession period to obtain their highest valuation. NHIT's offer price is compared with the reserve price. NHIT in turn raises money through bonds and discover the best price through sale of units on SEBI platform. Under securitization Mode, NHAI has been authorised to raise long term finance from banks and by issuing bonds by securitizing user fee receipts from toll plazas on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway as an alternate mode of asset monetization, through a Special Purpose Vehicle.

Online gaming bill: What does it mean for sports and sports enthusiasts?
India is making some big moves in the world of online gaming with the introduction of the Online Gaming Bill. Known as the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, the new proposed law, which was passed by the Cabinet on Tuesday, April 19, seeks to encourage e-sports and social games. But, at the same time, the bill also prohibits real money gaming and online betting, which could lead to addiction, financial loss, and security bill, which is now headed to the parliament, is being seen as a game-changer for competitive gaming, players, and the industry as whole. So what does it mean for e-sports, the users and the cricket industry at large, which has seen platforms like Dream 11 and MyCircle acting as key sponsors. Online Gaming Bill: What does it do for e-sports?Under the Online Gaming Bill, e-sports will now be recognised as an official form of competitive sport in India. The Union ministry of Sports will now develop guidelines and standards for the conduct of esports events in the country, as well as establish training academies, research centres and more. The bill is also envisioning incentive schemes, awareness programs and the integration of e-sports into the broader sports policy. Online Gaming Bill: How does it aim to safeguard users? The Online Gaming Bill also cracks down on harmful gaming practices. This means that there will be a stop on online gambling, betting and real money games that can cause addiction and lead to financial loss. By this, the users will be safeguarded from fraud, money laundering and other online risks. Banks and payments have been barred from processing payments related to such games. Online money games that are active in the country at the moment, have been blocked under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Online Gaming Bill: What does it mean for the cricketing industry? The Online Gaming Bill could spell the end of 'real money gaming platforms' that have high stakes in the cricketing industry. The bill means that multi-billion dollar fantasy gaming industries will take a major hit in review. Sources have told India Today that the overall ad sector could take a hit of Rs. 17,000 Crore hit with the bill coming into play. Of this, a huge chunk of revenue comes from websites like Dream 11 and MyCircle11. Dream11 brought the Indian team's title rights for about USD 44 million (Rs 358 crore approx). My11Circle brought IPL fantasy gaming rights for a fee of Rs 625 crore for five years (Rs 125 crore approx annually), according to PTI. advertisementAs per "PROHIBITIONS" clause: "No person shall offer, aid, abet, induce or otherwise indulge or engage in the offering of online money game and online money gaming service."No bank, financial institution, or any other person facilitating financial transactions or authorisation of funds shall engage in, permit, aid, abet, induce or otherwise facilitate any transaction or authorisation of funds towards payment for any online money gaming service."This will start a chain reaction that could affect the sports sponsorship market, including individual players' sponsorship and franchise-based domestic leagues of disciplines like kabaddi and football. Online Gaming Bill: What are the punishments? The "OFFENCES AND PENALTIES" clause states that real money gaming is a criminal offence, which can lead to jail and a huge fine for the service provider. Clause 9. (1) reads "Any person who offers online money gaming service in contravention of section 5 shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine which may extend to one crore rupees or with 9. (2) reads: "Any person who makes or causes to make advertisement in any media, in contravention of section 6, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to fifty lakh rupees or with both.- EndsMust Watch
