Pete Wicks savagely mocks Zara McDermott with hilarious sign as he cheers on Sam Thompson

Daily Record05-06-2025
Sam Thompson, who is currently completing a 260 mile Soccer Aid challenge to raise funds for Unicef, was left in stitches as his pal Pete Wicks cheered him on during his third day with a cheeky sign that poked fun at his ex, Zara McDermott.
Pete Wicks hilariously mocked Zara McDermott's famous 'you can' moment from Made in Chelsea as he cheered on pal Sam Thompson on his 260 mile Soccer Aid challenge on Wednesday. The I'm A Celeb star who is currently taking part in a 260 mile Soccer Aid Challenge which he must complete either on foot or bike, was surprised by his best mate Pete during the latest segment where he was seen cheering on Sam with a sign that read 'You can do it. You caaan."
Pete shouted out the sign's message, which is a reference to a now iconic Made In Chelsea scene where Zara begs for Sam to give her another chance after cheating on him during her time on Celebrity X Factor in 2019. Zara and Sam rekindled, dating for five years before they split at the end of last year. The former Love Island has since swiftly moved on with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson.

In the hilarious clip shared on the Staying Relevant podcast TikTok page, Pete is seen screaming 'you can!' at Sam as he erupts into fits of laughter while cycling his bike. Pete cheekily captioned the video: "A few words of motivation for Sam.." and purposely imitated Zara's tone of voice she had used when she insisted that Sam could forgive her for her infidelities.

Fans in the comments were left in stitches by Pete's hilarious jibe as one wrote: "Hahahaha the shade only Pete can get away with." Another chimed in: "Best sign he could've done", alongside a clapping hands emoji.
A third replied: "I would LOVE to see Zara's reaction to this." A fourth exclaimed: "This is too funny! Never should've given her that second chance!!"
The joke is sure to sting if Zara spots the clip as she previously spoke about 'You Can' meme on GK Barry's Saving Grace podcast.
Speaking about how she's been trolled over the moment, Zara said: "I mean it's really not nice hearing your painful voice because that's me in like a lot of emotional distress.
"So like it's kind of like nails on a chalkboard. It's part of the going on a reality show, is living your loveliest moments and darkest moments in the public eye."

While Zara has moved on already, Sam is currently challenging himself to complete a mammoth 260 mile journey on both bike and foot to deliver the match ball to its new home in Old Trafford, with the hope of raising much-needed funds for Unicef.
Before setting off on Monday, Pete shared a sweet tribute to his pal on Instagram writing: "Tomorrow this man embarks on a mental and physical challenge for an amazing cause @Unicef.'

"Mate I couldn't be prouder of you as a friend, a brother and as a man. You are gonna push yourself to the limit and I can't wait to watch you complete this f**king mammoth task.
"I know how much work you've put in and I know you're doing it for the right reasons."
He added: "Just so you know, you're doing it with every single one of your friends and family right behind you. I hope the nation follows your journey and helps you along the way in donations and support.

"You are an inspiration to me and many others and I admire the man you've become this year more than any other year I've known you. Good luck brother, you've got this."
To complete the gruelling challenge, Sam must run a marathon for five days and cycle in between, ensuring the ball arrives on June 6, just in time for kickoff on Sunday, June 15.
Sam, who sustained a 'significant' calf injury earlier in the week is determined to crack on with the task.

He said: "This is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. I now have to accept that I've done damage to my calf and running is very difficult.
"But I can and will carry on, not matter what, on two feet and two pedals, I'm still going to get there and get across the finish line on Friday. It's just going to be longer, harder but my reason for doing it still hasn't changed.
"I really hope people are digging deep for UNICEF, seeing what I'm trying to do and are getting behind this challenge."
In a potentially awkward overlap, Zara's new love, Louis Tomlinson is one of the celebs who will be participating in Soccer Aid for UNICEF on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Old Trafford.

Celebs Go Dating airs emotional scenes as stars break down in tears over 'triggering' past relationships and difficult childhoods

The Celebs Go Dating agency was turmoil during Wednesday night's episode after two stars broke down in tears in a candid discussion about their past. Olivia Hawkins, 30, admitted to feeling 'triggered' by her past relationships while Sam Prince, 28, said he found himself 'never being enough' for his parents which has left him 'sensitive' when it comes to romance. Speaking to experts Anna Williamson and Dr Tara, former Love Island star Liv discussed her date with Louis Russell - which ended in tears after he kissed someone else during another date. 'It's a trigger of people I've dated from the past,' she explained as she wiped away her tears. 'I've always wanted that instant connection with someone and I really feel that with him, and I know it's so early but I don't think it's the right situation for me.' Liv recalled when she discovered a man she had been dating in the past had a partner. She continued: 'But I just kept going back. I just really wanted to change him and I lost myself a bit.' Meanwhile, Sam headed out on a date with a girl called Annie, who went on to brand him 'nasty' and rate their night a 2/10. He explained: 'As much as I have this persona where people watch me on TV and think I don't give a f**k, I give more of a f**k then ever and I'm very sensitive. 'When I'm in love with someone, I'm so in love. Sometimes I feel like I'm too in love. I rely on that person for everything, and that's where I think I've gone wrong.' Sam then explained how past relationships have left him feeling 'resentful' after giving too much, which he thinks stems from 'never feeling like he was enough' for his parents. Former Love Island star Olivia and Too Hot To Handle 's Louis immediately hit it off after they landed in Ibiza to film the E4 dating show and shared a smooch. However, during Monday evening's instalment, their connection was put to the test as Louis went on a date with a gorgeous brunette, who was later revealed to be Jazmine Nichol. Jazmine entered the Casa Amor Love Island villa in 2022 as a bombshell; however, she failed to find a spark with any of the boys and was dumped from the villa. But it was in the voiceover to which Helena mimed to, that she may have taken a swipe at her fellow contestants, Shakira, Toni Laites and Yasmin Pettet. The audio was a clip from an interview with actress Ariana Greenblatt, who played the 'mean girl' daughter in the Barbie movie. Ariana says: "Whatever, we all know blondes have more fun, because their bleach is in their hair, let's talk about it." Helena's use of the audio could be seen as a dig to Shakira, Toni and Yasmin, who were often billed as the being given the 'mean girls' edit during this series of Love Island. Her TikTok also coincided with the release of an i-D Magazine feature interview with the three Islanders where they talked about feeling grateful they could represent brunettes and in Shakira's case, the South Asian community. "What have I signed up for?" Shakira said in the i-D interview. 'Everyone's gonna love the blonde hair, blue-eyed girls, we see year in year out on Love Island. I thought, based on initial attraction, it wasn't going to go well for me, but I was pleasantly surprised.' Shakira, Toni and Yasmin also addressed the ongoing feuds and rivalries in the villa describing at "classic High School behaviour". 'We felt that massively in the changing room, the snickers, the whispers, the dirty look," Shakira said. "When you come around the corner and they stop talking, you feel isolated, it feels frosty, really tense, and it's not nice. "It wasn't a bad edit; we tried to fix it, but that was our experience, we lived it.' Despite having a rocky relationship with some of their co-stars, the trio stuck together and gracefully took on every obstacle thrown at them. Toni won the series alongside Cach and scooped a prize of £50k, while Shakira and Harry and Yas and Jamie are also going strong. Despite each bagging themselves a new fella, they have proudly said that the real prize is the friendships they made.
