Former Rams CB Tre Tomlinson claimed off waivers by NFC West rival The 49ers jumped at the chance to add Tomlinson after he was cut by the Rams
The Los Angeles Rams and cornerback Tre Tomlinson mutually decided to part ways on Wednesday, resulting in the team waiving him. Tomlinson's release came as a surprise but it didn't take long for him to land in a new spot.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Friday that the San Francisco 49ers claimed Tomlinson off waivers from the Rams. It's unclear if other teams behind the 49ers also put in a claim for the former sixth-round pick.
Tomlinson was drafted by the Rams just two years ago. He primarily played special teams as a rookie in 2023 and missed the entire 2024 season while on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury.
In college, Tomlinson won the Jim Thorpe Award in 2022, which is given to the country's best defensive back. He's the nephew of Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson and had a decorated career at TCU.

'Feeling rejuvenated': Davante Adams fitting in well with Rams
