Eamonn Holmes rants about 'horrible' former co-stars

Daily Mirror13-06-2025
GB News host Eamonn Holmes has hit out at his former co-stars branding some of them "horrible" and "fake" during a recent episode of his podcast
GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes didn't mince his words about former colleagues in the television industry, slating some as "horrible" and repeatedly calling them "false, false, false".
On his latest podcast episode of Things We Like, Eamonn was joined by co-presenter Paul Coyte and tough guy actor Ray Winstone. During a candid conversation, The Departed actor Ray shared insights on his life in Los Angeles and how the Hollywood buzz led him back to the UK, starting Eamonn on a scathing rant about the entertainment world.
Ray said: 'I couldn't live in LA, it's constant,' and pointed out: "Even the guy who puts petrol in your car works in the industry. It's like every two minutes, it's all they want to talk about.
"We talk about birds and football and boxing, you know, they talk about movies. Hollywood and Los Angeles are wonderful places when you're doing alright, but when you're not."
Eamonn, fresh from his departure from his long-standing gig at This Morning, jumped in to sound off on his disdain for phony relationships within showbiz circles, reports Belfast Live.
The seasoned presenter, not shy about his feelings regarding people in the biz, spoke in a mocking tone: "'I don't like this character, I don't like so and so, I like that person, I didn't get on with them,'" before hinting at similarities between himself and Winstone, saying, "That's what the business is based on. I mean, I'm like you [Ray Winstone]. I get myself into trouble because if I don't like someone, they'll know I don't like them."
Adding fuel to the fire, Eamonn remarked on the frequent hypocrisy he encounters, noting: "And there are so many horrible people that you end up with. People say: 'Oh, he's lovely, he's fantastic'."
Eamonn Holmes has recently shared his candid views on celebrity genuineness, stating: "If they say to me: 'What's that Ray Winstone like?' I'll say he is lovely and he is fantastic and people will believe me because I wouldn't say it if you weren't, but so many are just false, false, false."
While discussing the authenticity of stars in showbiz, all three men found common ground, although they refrained from naming individuals associated with their sentiments.
Rumours once circled about a rift between Eamonn and his former GMTV co-star Anthea Turner during the 90s, but both have indicated that any past issues have been resolved.
In recent times, Eamonn has not held back on expressing his opinions about ex-This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield following Phillip's departure from ITV due to a controversial relationship with a younger man within the company.
Taking a firm stance on Phillip's troubles, Eamonn commented in October 2024 that he was "absolutely addicted to fame," and explained that Phillip, who remains absent from our screens, "deserves to be in exile".

Friday briefing: Rooney hits back at Brady and Newcastle chase Ramsey

Wayne Rooney hit back at NFL star Tom Brady after his public criticism of the former England international's work ethic at Birmingham. There has been plenty of movement in the transfer window with Newcastle and Nottingham Forest lining up moves. Rooney hits back Wayne Rooney claims Birmingham minority owner Tom Brady's criticism of him during his spell as the club's manager was 'very unfair'. Rooney, sacked by Birmingham in January 2024 after less than three months in charge, said he was 'really disappointed with the comment' on his new podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show, which launches on Friday. NFL great Brady, who became a minority shareholder at Birmingham in August 2023, said he was 'a little worried about our head coach's work ethic' during a documentary after visiting Blues' training ground the following November. Speaking via his new show on the BBC, the ex-Everton and Manchester United striker said: 'I think Tom came in once, which was the day before a game where the days are a little bit lighter anyway, and I don't think he really understood football that well. 'But what he does understand is – he's a hard worker – we know that.' Rooney added: 'Football is not NFL – NFL works for three months a year. Players do need rest as well, so I think he's very unfair, the way he's come out and portrayed that.' Men on the move Newcastle have agreed a fee for Aston Villa winger Jacob Ramsey. The 24-year-old is due to travel to the north east for a medical after a deal in the region of £40million was agreed, the PA news agency understands. The prospective sale of Ramsey, who has made 167 appearances at Villa Park, will represent pure profit for Villa, who are walking a UEFA financial fair play and PSR tightrope and need to sell. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest have agreed a £30million fee for Manchester City's James McAtee and a club-record £37m deal for Ipswich forward Omari Hutchinson. Kick It Out want action We are disgusted at the racial abuse that Mathys Tel has received on social media following last night's UEFA Super Cup defeat. Mathys showed bravery and courage to step forward and take a penalty, yet those who abuse him are nothing but cowards – hiding behind anonymous… — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 14, 2025 Anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out says players may think twice about taking penalties in future after Tottenham's Mathys Tel received online racist abuse. France Under-21 international Tel is the latest player to be targeted on social media after he missed a spot kick in Wednesday night's UEFA Super League penalty shoot-out defeat to Paris St Germain. A Kick It Out statement read: 'If you're a black player, it would be totally understandable to think, 'Why would I want to take a penalty?' That's the state of the game right now, and the sad fact is, it's nothing new. 'Players are routinely targeted with racism online and want action; we want action, too. Accountability from offenders and social media companies is a baseline, but it's not being met.' What's on today The 25/26 Premier league season awaits ⌛️ — Liverpool FC (@LFC) August 14, 2025 The Premier League returns with champions Liverpool kicking off the new campaign against Bournemouth. Tears as Pride of Britain judges pick their winners from inspirational shortlist

Judging for the 2025 Daily Mirror's Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with P&O Cruises, took place today - and the celebrity judges had some tricky choices to make There was hardly a dry eye in the house at Thursday's judging for the 2025 Daily Mirror 's Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with P&O Cruises, as a star-studded panel gathered to shine a light on the extraordinary feats of ordinary people. ‌ Joining veteran hosts Carol Vorderman and Ashley Banjo were acting legend Michael Sheen, ex-Strictly professional Oti Mabuse, rapper Aitch and Coleen Rooney. ‌ They were joined by Pride of Britain red carpet stalwarts Pete Wicks and GK Barry, Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway, and Lioness champion Lucy Bronze. ‌ 'It's going to be fun,' said Ashley ahead of the judging. 'I've read up on all the shortlisted nominees but now I'm ready to hear what the other judges think. I really can't pick. "Me and Carol, we see people from this stage, we meet them, we give them their awards, and we usually see them afterwards, so we're with them for their whole journey. And every one of them deserves to win.' Newly recruited judge Coleen, who lost her beloved sister Rosie McCloughlin to a lifelong battle with Rett syndrome at the age of 14, said she was taken aback by how tough it was to pick just one inspirational winner from each category. 'It's a privilege to be asked to be on the judging panel, and to hear so many amazing stories of inspirational people from all walks of life,' she said. 'But I didn't realise it would be this hard! Every one of the nominees deserves an award but just picking one or two from each category has been tough. ‌ 'But it's been great hearing views from all round the table why they think certain people should be recognised.' Coleen, who shares four sons with footballer husband Wayne Rooney, said she feels lucky to be involved in the Pride of Britain Awards. 'It's a great event and it's just fantastic to recognise the great work and courage and bravery that is around us,' she added. ‌ And England star Lucy, fresh from the Lionesses' extraordinary Euros victory, told the Mirror: "It was amazing to hear the stories, the depth of the bravery we've heard about, and just to have a small part to play in the event, it's such an honour. All the nominees merit acknowledgment.' 'All of the entrants tugged at my heartstrings,' said Carol, who is co-hosting this year's awards ceremony for her 26th time. 'But the children in particular are just incredible.' Podcast host GK Barry said: 'It's my second year on the judge's panel so I feel I'm getting more into it now. There were so many amazing people last year, it's so difficult when it comes to picking someone. They're all doing mental things, but I'm excited for this year's batch of winners.' Michael Sheen, who had to run for his curtain call in the West End, joked that there should be a special show dedicated just to all the nominees for the Lifetime Achievement award. 'Every one of these people's stories are amazing,' he added. Hundreds of thousands of nominations had flooded in this year after Pete Wicks, GK Barry and Sam Thompson were sent on a mission to comb every inch of the UK to find the nation's unsung heroes. The winners will be announced at this year's Pride of Britain Awards in a glittering ceremony televised on ITV later this autumn.
