Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) has announced its commitment to allocate a total of Dhs20 million to support community development initiatives, with this funding being made available through the auspices of the Community Development Authority (CDA).
This contribution translates the bank's ongoing commitment to supporting social responsibility programmes and strengthening institutional partnerships with government entities with a view to establishing a sustainable support system that has a direct impact on the most vulnerable groups in society.
CDA confirmed that this donation would contribute to strengthening its resources, which is directed to eligible groups.
The proposed model of cooperation is predicated on the principles of transparency and a meticulous examination of the needs of the affected parties. This approach is intended to ensure the optimal allocation of Zakat funds in accordance with the provisions of Islamic Sharia.
Shaikha Al Jarman, the CEO of the Social Development Sector at CDA, said, "DIB's contributions are a clear example of the private sector's commitment to its social responsibilities, as well as its desire to support Dubai's social solidarity system. This partnership also enables the CDA to intervene swiftly to support the most vulnerable groups and improve their quality of life."
She added, "At the Community Development Authority, we are committed to conducting comprehensive assessments of cases to ensure that eligible groups benefit from Zakat funds in a way that achieves sufficiency and stability. This can be through direct financial support or by providing the means to empower and enable independence."

The innovative venture explored proposed mechanisms and solutions to prepare qualified human capital and encourage their participation in both social and institutional ventures, upholding the objectives of the 'Year of Community', aimed at promoting social unity and sustainable development. The lab convened officials from the Community Development Authority, Dubai Women Establishment, and Dubai Sports Council, along with representatives from the private sector and leading experts from various fields. It also facilitated discussions on key themes and showcased high-impact ideas, which can enhance the community's role in fostering integration across diverse social groups. H.E. Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, commended the productive collaboration among relevant government entities for this venture, which aligns with the objectives of the 'Year of Community' as well as DGHR's vision to establish a cohesive institutional framework that promotes harmony and integration within the government system, ultimately benefiting individuals, institutions, and society. These include the Policies and Systems pillar, aimed at developing inclusive policies and legislation, empowering all segments of society, specifically employees, people of determination, women, retirees, and job seekers, while ensuring the sustainability of social impact; the Empowerment and Capacity Building pillar for designing training programs, which can enhance the skills of target groups, enabling their effective participation in community initiatives and supporting institutional integration. In addition, the Digital Empowerment and Artificial Intelligence pillar explored the role of digital solutions and AI technologies in delivering innovative services that promote inclusion and stimulate engagement. Meanwhile, the Social Participation and Partnerships pillar focused on boosting cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as the broader community, to launch innovative ventures which can strengthen social integration, empower women, and support people of determination and retirees through sustainable partnerships. 20 July 2025 17:32 DUBAI (ALETIHAD) As part of its efforts to strengthen civic engagement and foster a culture of giving, the Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai has announced the launch of the 'Volunteerism Awareness and Engagement' initiative aims to deepen public understanding of volunteerism and empower individuals across all age groups to play an active role in Dubai's development journey, aligned with the objectives of the 'Year of Community'.The project highlights the concept of volunteering, the ecosystem that supports it, and the rights and responsibilities of volunteers. It also encourages participation across all segments of society and serves as a comprehensive platform for individuals to generate measurable social impact, either through field-based contributions or by enhancing their leadership capacities in the volunteer has recorded a total of over one million volunteer hours in 2024, a milestone that underscores both heightened public awareness and strong institutional to statistics from CDA's Volunteerism Department, nearly 59,000 volunteers are now registered on its platform. DIB acted as the Senior Mandated Lead Arranger and Investment Agent for the Islamic tranche, reinforcing its role as a leading provider of Shariah-compliant cross-border financing for high-impact sectors. The three-year facility will be used for general corporate purposes and reflects the continued growth of values-driven finance in global markets.
