Man fakes employment after layoff, gets job offer with ‘higher salary, better title, remote' work — Here's what happened

Minta day ago

A strange incident came to light recently about how a man got hold of a job offer with 'higher salary, better title' and remote work simply by pretending to be employed after he got laid off. A social media user elaborated on his experience and explained the exhilarating sequence of events.
In a post on Reddit, the user stated, 'Back in August, I got laid off unexpectedly. No warning, no severance, just a 'hey, we're restructuring' and a Zoom call that lasted 3 minutes. I panicked.'
All the while the man was unemployed, he lied about the status of his job and didn't disclose the news about being relieved from his previous role to anyone, neither friends nor ex-coworkers. 'I just… pretended I was still working,' he said.
He continued to fake his job by following the everyday routine. 'Every day I'd 'log in,' aka open my laptop and sit there like I was busy. Told people I had meetings. Walked around with AirPods in like I was on calls,' he wrote while describing how he applied for several jobs in the background. The lie was too far stretched as he faked about 'exciting projects at work' even on LinkedIn to give the illusion that he was still employed.
This continued until one fine day a recruiter came across one of those fake posts and reached out. Asserting how his efforts paid off, he said, 'A recruiter….asked if I was open to opportunities. I said yes. Got an interview. Lied through my teeth about the 'current job.' Crushed the interviews. Got an offer higher salary, better title, remote, actual work-life balance.'
The viral post received over 24 thousand reactions. Social media users were in frenzy to know this bewildering tale as one user wrote, 'As soon you know the rules of how to play their game, you can only win. No need to tell, you went by the rules.'
Another user asked, 'What about back ground verification? Didn't they validate the tenure of working years, months?' A third user stated, 'You played the game and you played it right.' A fourth user quipped, 'Probably still unemployed and lying in this post.' Another comment read, 'This is a true example of faking it until you make it.'

Super Smash Bros. pro Westballz slams Ludwig for 'enabling' Mang0's actions at Beerio Kart 2025

(Image via @LudwigAhgren/X & @WeshBallz/X) Super Smash Bros. veteran Weston 'Westballz' has sparked a major controversy by accusing Twitch streamer and Beerio Kart organizer Ludwig Ahgren of 'enabling' fellow pro Mang0 into a medical emergency. The incident stems from the latest Beerio Kart 2025 event, where Mang0's behavior under the influence shocked both attendees and viewers, and now, the spotlight is shifting. What Went Down at Beerio Kart 2025? Beerio Kart is an alcohol-fueled spin on Mario Kart where streamers compete while drinking — a chaotic but popular spectacle. This year, however, things took a darker turn. Mang0, visibly intoxicated, was caught behaving inappropriately around female streamers. One viral clip showed him pressing himself against Twitch streamer Maya Higa while holding plushies and cardboard cutouts — behavior that many deemed deeply uncomfortable and inappropriate. Westballz Blames Ludwig | Valkyrae on Mang0 Drunk Night Westballz 's Accusation Against Ludwig While Mang0's actions triggered widespread backlash, Westballz turned the heat toward Ludwig. In a now-viral post, he accused Ludwig of pushing Mang0 toward excess: 'You enabled someone into a medical emergency! Saying to 'increase those numbers,' and then once sh** hits the f**king fan, you say he's banned from all your events. After that, he's dropped from C9, banned from Melee tournaments.' Westballz questioned the sincerity of Ludwig's friendship with Mang0, arguing that encouraging dangerous behavior and later cutting ties isn't how a real friend acts. He also claimed the fallout from this will harm the Melee scene itself, suggesting viewership will drop now that one of its most iconic figures has been publicly disgraced and banned. What Exactly Happened with Mang0? Mang0's antics included suggestive behavior toward multiple female streamers. One viral clip in particular, where he appeared to push up against Maya Higa from behind, lit Reddit and Twitter/X on fire, sparking outrage. Though intoxicated, many fans and creators saw his behavior as inexcusable. Valkyrae later weighed in, calling the incident a 'disaster,' and emphasized that Mang0 'needs to seek help.' A Community Divided Some fans side with Westballz, saying Ludwig, as host, should've kept the event under control. Others argue Mang0 is responsible for his own actions, regardless of encouragement. There's also the bigger picture — the impact on the Super Smash Bros. community. Mang0 was one of its biggest icons. Westballz fears that this incident and the way it was handled could hurt the game's visibility and legacy. The Beerio Kart saga might just change how streamer-led events are run moving forward. Because enabling, even unintentionally, has its consequences. Game On Season 1 continues with Mirabai Chanu's inspiring story. Watch Episode 2 here.

IndusInd Bank shortlists three veteran bankers for CEO role, requests RBI approval — Check details

IndusInd Bank has shortlisted three veteran bankers for its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) role and submitted the names to the central bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), for its approval, reported the news agency Reuters, citing two people aware of the development. Axis Bank's Deputy Managing Director Rajiv Anand, HDFC Bank's Executive Vice President Rahul Shukla, and Bajaj Finance's Managing Director Anup Saha were the three veteran bankers the private institutional lender shortlisted to potentially fill the CEO role. 'Rajiv Anand's name has been given as first priority by the board, given his reputation and the experience he brings to the table,' one of the people aware of the development cited above told the news agency. As per earlier reports, the Reserve Bank asked IndusInd Bank's board of directors to submit three names before the deadline on 30 June 2025. A report from the news portal Economic Times, citing people aware of the development, said that the IndusInd Bank's board is unlikely to consider more contenders for the CEO role. The board has also suggested that the new CEO's term will be for three years at the bank, according to the agency report, citing people aware of the development. The private lender incurred $230 million in the year ended 31 March 2024-25, due to the years of misaccounting of internal derivative trades. This resulted in the resignations of the former CEO, Sumant Kathpalia, and the deputy, Arun Khurana, in April 2025. All three veteran bankers who were shortlisted for the IndusInd Bank CEO role have decades of experience working in the banking system for financial companies or institutional lenders. HDFC Bank's Executive Vice President, Rahul Shukla, has been serving as the Senior Vice President and Head of the Risk Strategy Unit in the institutional lender for the last 21 years, according to the LinkedIn profile. Shukla has a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from the Savitribai Phule Pune University. Rajiv Anand, who is currently serving as the Deputy Managing Director of Axis Bank, has spent more than eight years in the company. Before joining the institutional lender, between 2009 to 2013, Anand worked at Axis Asset Management as its MD and CEO. Anand also has prior experience working for over 12 years at Standard Chartered Bank, and 4.9 years of experience working for HSBC. He also holds a chartered accountant certification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Anup Saha, the current Managing Director of Bajaj Finance, has nearly 32 years of experience in the industry, working 25 years in financial services and banking with various institutional lenders and non-banking financial entities.

‘He Could Have Asked ChatGPT To Rewrite': CEO Under Fire For ‘Plagiarising' Post On AI

Last Updated: Vihan Pratap Singh, the founder and CEO of Blackrose, a quantitative trading firm based in Gurgaon, shared the post on LinkedIn. An Indian startup founder is facing backlash online after Internet users discovered that his viral post on artificial intelligence (AI) was not original. The post, which seemed like a thoughtful reflection on AI and its impact on the human brain, was copied from a US-based CEO. Vihan Pratap Singh, the founder and CEO of Blackrose, a quantitative trading firm based in Gurgaon, shared the post on LinkedIn. In it, he described a conversation with a Computer Science graduate from IIT Bombay. The graduate, according to Singh, struggled to find basic words while speaking. 'Like his brain was buffering," Singh wrote. When asked what was wrong, the IIT graduate allegedly replied, 'Sometimes I forget words now. I'm so used to having ChatGPT complete my thoughts that when it's not there, my brain feels… slower." The post warned about the long-term effects of AI. Singh claimed that tools like ChatGPT are doing more than helping people work—they may be changing the way we think. 'We're running the first large-scale experiment on human cognition," he said. 'What happens when an entire generation outsources their thinking?" But the internet soon found that these were not his words. The entire post was copied, almost word for word, from Greg Isenberg, a Florida-based entrepreneur and CEO of Late Checkout. Isenberg had written the same reflection back in December 2024, but mentioned a Stanford graduate instead of an IIT graduate. Singh changed that detail but left the rest of the post the same. The plagiarism was exposed by X user Shobhit Bakliwal. He posted screenshots of both versions side by side. 'This guy straight up stole the post and added IIT-B CS grad," Bakliwal wrote. Social media users were quick to criticise Singh. One wrote, 'There's a reason he is the Founder and CEO of his one-person company." Another said, 'He could have at least asked ChatGPT to rewrite this text." As of now, Singh has not responded to the plagiarism claims. First Published:
