On today's Beyond The Gates recap:
Bill and Hayley's Place: Dani congratulates Hayley on her pregnancy. She knows Bill loves babies and must be happy as he will now have two in his household. She refers to Hayley's pregnancy as 'the imaginary baby in her belly.' Hayley and Dani snark back and forth for a bit. Dani thinks Hayley isn't really pregnant. Hayley can't believe Dani is so petty to be jealous of an unborn child. Dani says she's only shining a light on Hayley's latest deception. Hayley says Dani's words are as empty as she is. She says if Dani keeps getting in her face she will make sure she regrets ever crossing her. Dani thinks she's threatening her. Bill walks in and says he is and tells her to be careful what she says to Hayley. Dani comes right out and tells Bill she thinks the baby is a figment of Hayley's imagination.
Hayley admits Dani is right as there is no child and she is not pregnant. Only Dani, in her infinite wisdom, was brilliant enough to sus out her dark, devious intentions. Dani rolls her eyes and Bill smiles at his wife's cutting sarcasm. Dani gets all kinds of loud and says Hayley's deception is brilliant as now she has an out when it's proven no baby actually exists. Hayley counters saying she's never seen anyone with a more devious mind than hers. Dani says she is a Dupree and she is only a wannabe who will always be an outsider behind the gates of Fairmont Crest. Bill stops Dani but Hayley says she can fight her own battles. With that, Hayley says it's getting late and tells Dani to find her way out. Before she leaves, Dani says she knows what she knows. Bill pulls Hayley into a hug, and she dissolves in tears.
Hayley promises she is pregnant and would never lie about something so important. Bill is impressed by how fierce she was in standing up to his ex-wife. He says Hayley is his wife and is above all others. Bill says they knew Dani would be a constant thorn in their side. Hayley is unwilling to be run out of Fairmont Crest.
Ted's Hotel Room: Ted gets a text from Kat saying she will come by later. Just then, Leslie arrives in a brand new, long, luxurious wig! Leslie begins to cause a scene which leads him to invite her in. She makes note about they're history in hotel rooms when Ted's arms were wrapped all around her. Leslie gets to the point and says she dropped by to thank him for getting Eva a chair at that posh salon. Ted receives her thanks and tells her to go. Leslie doesn't listen, takes a seat and asks for a gin and tonic.
Leslie lies to Ted and says Eva asked her if they might ever reunite. Ted says to assure Eva they will never get back together. Leslie says it's time for them to work together to parent their daughter to help her make major life decisions. Ted gets how Eva needs guidance but can't see working together to make decisions. Leslie gets why Ted feels the way he does in the same way Nicole does about him. They agree that punishing folks for their sins does not help with the children. Leslie asks if they can forgive each other for Eva's sake.
Leslie pours Ted a beer and asks him to sit down and relax. Ted asks when Eva asked about them getting back together. Ted does as he was told and takes a seat. Leslie explains her late husband Alan was a means to an end after she endured all of Bill's threats. Alan gave her and Eva a life that was safe and secure. Ted asks if Alan was unkind to Eva and Leslie says he was dismissive and she was very lonely. Eva built up an idea of her night in shining armor daddy who would return to save them. Leslie admits she missed Ted and then asks if she's making up the feelings she experienced. Ted says he owes her an apology as they met at a difficult time in his life. He regrets having given her hope. That being said, Nicole is the woman he loves and will always have his heart. Ted says Nicole did nothing wrong and he is living apart from his wife because of Leslie (Really? Seriously?). Ted yells at her to stop embellishing their relationship but Leslie says she is only repeating every word he said to her. Ted just wants her to stop (without admitting any fault of his own). Ted asks Leslie to leave, and she grabs her purse. Leslie realizes he doesn't care about her but hopes he cares about their daughter. Ted says he is committed to making up for the years they lost. She tries to stroke his cheek, but Ted grabs her hand. Just then, Kat walks in.
Leslie plays up EVERYTHING trying to make it look like Kat caught them in a moment. Ted says he was trying to get Leslie gone but Kat thinks she walked in on her father having a moment with his mistress. With that, Leslie calls Ted 'lover boy' calls Kat a 'brat' and makes her exit. Kat can't believe her father would allow himself to be alone in a room with that horrible woman.
Orphey Gene's: Joey checks in with Doug, who wonders why he's being offered the chance to win back the money he owes him. He's seen Joey with his wife and it looks like Joey wants to take what's his. Joey thinks he is finally using his brains to analyze the situation. Vanessa walks in as Doug confirms he will attend the poker game.
Uptown: Joey and Vanessa meet up and he asks if he can interest her in gambling at his casino. Vanessa agrees and says she is always up for testing her luck.
Orphey Gene's: Kat arrives to see Jacob and says they can't let Eva and Jacob get away with what they did. She shows him some CCTV video from the hospital saying she believes it's proof Leslie pretended to be a nurse and poisoned Laura. Jacob says they need proof the woman is Leslie and to be able to verify the legitimacy of the footage. Kat says she got it from Andre as he is doing a documentary about the nurses. Kat shows Andre the time stamp which coincides with Laura's spike in potassium and is also the same day Shanice saw the random nurse from Provident Hospital. Jacob says he followed up and no one from Provident had any information about the nurse who supposedly transferred. Just then, Mona arrives.
Jacob says they need Mona to try and identify the person who was sneaking into Laura's hospital room the night her potassium spiked. She reviews the video and Kat blows the identification by saying she thinks the woman is Leslie. Now that she knows who she is looking for she thinks it must be Leslie but isn't certain. Jacob pushes Mona to ID the nurse. Mona looks at Kat and says maybe. She notes she is not friends with Leslie anymore and owes her no loyalty. She's just not 100% certain Leslie was the woman in the video. Just then, Kat says she needs to go see her father. Kat apologizes for being so pushy with Mona. She thanks Kat for helping to look for the person who hurt Laura. They say their good nights and Kat exits.
Jacob asks Mona if she has more to share. Mona says she knows Leslie sang in her church's choir and befriended her and Jan with the hope of learning more information about Ted and Nicole. That being said, she must be honest. Mona would love to identify Leslie as the woman in the video but doesn't want to lie. Jacob appreciates her honesty and says he might call on her again. As Mona exits, she says if he questions Leslie he should remember, if her lips are moving, she's probably lying.
Joey's Gambling Pit: Joey and Vanessa arrive and he asks Drake to deal Vanessa in. Vanessa asks Joey to explain the game to her, just as Doug peaks his head in the door. Vanessa begins to win and she wonders if Joey rigged the game. She wonders if Joey has a different game in mind. Vanessa thinks there is a much better use for the poker table. With that, Joey sends everyone away and tells the dealer to lock the door.
Dani randomly walks into Joey's gambling pit but a staff member says they are closed. Dani uses the Dupree name and he runs to get her a drink. She sits and looks at baby pictures of Chelsea and Naomi whilst reviewing her encounter with Hayley and Bill. The staff member delivers her drink and Dani says she will need another.

Bill asks Hayley what her pregnancy means for their sex life. Hayley says pregnant women are often more aroused than usual. In addition, consistent sex can be healthy for the pregnancy. With that, she jumps on top of her husband.
Doug walks into the room in which Dani is drinking. She asks the wait staff to make another exception and another drink for her friend. Dani says Doug looks like hell and he says it's exactly how he feels. With that, they toast.
Joey turns on some sexy lights and pushes all the chips off the poker table. They begin to undress each other and get to hunching.
Kat says her father is the one destroying their family and thinks he wants to be with Leslie. She tries to exit but Ted asks her to stay. Kat says she is done for the day but thinks Leslie will be all to happy to keep him company.
Leslie returns home and looks in her magic mirror. She calls herself a rockstar for calling all this amazing chaos. She thinks God's universe has been so good to her and declares herself Leslie Victorious and appreciates the adoration of her non-existent fans.

Days of Our Lives Recap: Carrie Comes Home originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Titan/DiMera: Belle arrives to see Alex to investigate Philip's beating. Alex tries to avoid the topic because he's busy, but Belle says she will be brief. Belle asks about the Sepsis drug and Alex says he's been filled in and can't believe he would do something so stupid, yet again. He goes on to say he didn't know about the fraudulent letter until recently and thinks he could have stopped his cousin before he tried to steal the drug. Alex remembers seeing Philip eating dinner with Kevin Lambert. The next day he say Kevin having a hushed conversation with Steve and Shawn Douglas. Belle says none of this situation is his responsibility. Belle says she knows things the police don't about possible motives for Philip's beating. She suspects Alex knows similar information and straight up asks if he thinks Xander is guilty. He pleads the fifth. Belle says she is building a case and he's going to eventually answer questions from the police. If he knows anything, he may as well come clean. Alex says he saw Xander in the square yesterday coming from the direction of the Salem Inn. He was distracted and tense, made mention of a snag they hit in trying to purchase the hospital, and quickly leaves. Alex didn't say anything because Xander is family and owed some loyalty. He also notes Xander is innocent until proven guilty. Belle asks Alex to get Xander to call her and makes her exit. DiMera Mansion: EJ calls Brady to talk about his meeting with the hospital board when he learns about John. EJ presses about the board meeting but Brady hangs up. Kristen is listening in and asks her brother what happened to John. EJ tells Kristen that John was badly burned in an explosion. She asks for details and EJ indicates his chances aren't very good. Kristen can't believe John is in such danger and EJ awkwardly tries to comfort her. She apologizes for making things awkward as she remembers John as her first love. EJ says she was always willing to do anything to keep him, including passing him off as her child (I forgot about that!). Kristen says she wasn't in her right mind and was blinded by her feelings for John. EJ notes the creepy nature of transferring her feelings for the father to the son. Kristen shoots back about EJ sleeping with his ex-wife's sister as well as his dalliances with both Kate and Billie. He backs down and they think about how they came by their penchant for odd love interests honestly. EJ makes direct reference to Marlena as his queen of the night. University Hospital – John's Room: Marlena sits at John's bedside and discusses all the visitors he's had today. As she speaks, Carrie arrives (squeal!) and embraces Marlena. She thanks Carrie for coming and asks about Austin. Carrie says he stayed behind so Noah could walk at his high school graduation. Carrie breaks down and says how much she loves Marlena and John and once again they embrace. Carrie says she thought about John the entire flight over. She remembers when she and John thought Marlena was dead (the house exploded) and how it brought them so close (this was also when John was Roman). Flashback: Roman (John) tells young Carrie that Marlena is dead. In real-time, Carrie says she knows John is a hero but being a dad to her, Sami, Eric, Paul and Brady is his ultimate talent. Marlena says John has a soft spot for his girls. Carrie notes that includes Sami, despite all the grief she gave him over the years. She remembers the number of times John made her feel safe both as a little girl and an adult. Carrie says some folks don't even get one good father but she has two. Marlena recalls meeting five year old Carrie and what a spitfire she was. Carrie can't imagine the trouble she caused. Marlena says she always knew Carrie was Roman and Anna's daughter but she always felt like she was her daughter too, as well as John's. Carrie thanks her for always treating her like a daughter. Marlena says family is who sits in your heart and makes life worth living. With that, they both break down in tears and embrace. Flashback: John and Carrie decorate the Christmas tree. Carrie says it feels like Marlena is with them and they embrace. Carrie says their world was shattered when they thought Marlena was gone. She remembers how amazing John was during that time and how she told her school friends her father was superman and believes he still is. Just then, Carrie holds John's hands and he responds. Brady Pub: Roman arrives to find Johnny at a table. He asks about Philip and Roman says Kate is at the hospital speaking with his doctors. They switch over to John and Johnny recalls his visit with his grandfather the day before. Roman says Eric is on the way home and Johnny indicates Will is also heading home. Johnny mentions Allie can't fly because Henry has an ear infection. He notes his mother and Sydney are trying to get a flight out as they speak. Johnny mentions his name (John Roman) and doesn't think he's doing it justice. Roman takes a seat and says he needs to stop blaming himself for what happened with the adoption and notes they are now back together. Johnny says he will never let his wife down again. Johnny shifts topics and asks if he can grab some to go coffee for her. When he goes behind the bar, Johnny sees the lockbox with the gun is gone. Roman says he moved the lockbox because he didn't want folks asking questions. Johnny pushes and Roman says the gun disappeared the night of EJ's shooting. He remembers mentioning it to Johnny that same evening. Johnny wonders if he's being asked if he shot his father and vehemently denies it. With that, he storms out. University Hospital – Lobby: Paulina and Abe arrive and chat with Kate about both Philip and John. Paulina says she's working closely with Jada and apologizes Xander was let go. She says Belle is on the case and is determined to bring the culprit to justice. Paulina heads off to grab coffee and Abe asks Kate why she thinks Xander would try to kill his own brother. Kate thinks Xander is a vicious thug who doesn't want to share his birthright with his brother. Abe thinks she is holding back and pushes for more. Just then, Kate spies Philip's doctor and quickly makes her getaway. Paulina returns and asks what happened. DiMera Mansion – Living Room: Kristen brings Rachel in and says her Grandpa John is home but had an accident. She explains about the fire and how he is now in the hospital. Rachel says she doesn't feel well and says it's been that way since the tea party. Kristen thinks she's upset because her friends didn't come over. Rachel considers her mother's words and suddenly says, 'I heard a gunshot.' Kristen thinks she's talking about a dream but Rachel thinks she heard it in real life. University Hospital – John's Room: Abe walks in and embraces Carrie. Marlena thinks Abe should take a seat and visit with his friend. With that, Marlena and Carrie leave them alone. Abe takes a seat and says he's heard about all the folks who have Withbeen coming to see him. He thinks his partner has to stick around so as not to disappoint all his friends and family. As important as everyone is, the most important person is Marlena. Abe notes he was there for the origin of their love story. Flashback: John and Marlena are about to get married. He wonders why Abe never told him about how his beloved felt about her. Abe says he promised not to tell as it was during the time when he was getting married to Kristen who was actually Susan (look it up). John asks if Abe will do him the honor of, once again, being his best man. In real-time, Abe says he was so honored to have stood up for him and hopes, someday, his son (Theo) will marry his granddaughter (Claire-Bear) and they will be able to stand up for them together. He says they are family and always will be. University Hospital – Lobby: Marlena introduces Paulina to Carrie, who she recognizes as Roman's daughter. Carrie says Paulina's sister, Tamara, was always so kind to her. With that, Carrie heads off to grab coffee. Paulina wants Marlena to go change clothes, but she says she's staying and heads back to her beloved's room. Horton Square: Johnny runs into Belle and they chat about John. Belle says no one wants to be in a position where your father is dying and you haven't said what you need to say. Johnny picks up what she's laying down but says he's settled up with his father in every way he needs. Before he storms off, he advises Belle to stay the hell away from his father. Endings Carrie runs into Belle and the two embrace (I believe this is the first time Martha Madison and Christie Clark have shared scenes together). Belle asks about her dad and Carrie says he squeezed her hand. Further, Kayla says John's vital signs are improving and she just knows he is going to pull through. Marlena sits at John's bedside. Flashback: Marlena is asleep when the french doors to the balcony blow open. She hears John calling out for her and feels him all around her. She feels his essence exiting and screams for him not to go. In real-time, Marlena tells John not to ever leave her. EJ calls out for Johnny in Horton Square. Johnny heads the other direction when EJ loses his balance and hits the pavement. Johnny runs to his father as he tries to get up. Before he offers his father a hand, Johnny walks away. Kate joins Roman back at the pub and reports Philip is improving and will hopefully regain consciousness soon. She asks what's wrong and Roman tells her about his encounter with Johnny and their conversation about the lockbox and the gun. He's not certain he believes his grandson when he says he didn't shoot his father. Rachel tells Kristen the night of the shooting she woke up because she heard yelling. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: University Hospital – Lobby: Brady arrives and Kayla tells him there's no change in John's condition. She says if anyone can recover from these injuries, it's John Black. He asks to go see his father, but Kayla says Marlena is in with him now. Brady asks about Bo and Kayla says she thinks he is slowly getting better. Brady shifts and discusses the board meeting. Kayla says it's ultimately important to so many people. Brady isn't certain who he should vote for and Kayla feels the same. Just then, Brady gets a call from Kristen and Kayla heads off to check on her patients. Kristen says Rachel isn't feeling well and wants to bring her into the hospital. Brady says he's already there. Kristen says she doesn't think there is anything wrong physically. She says she thinks they have a lot to discuss. Salem PD – Jada's Office: Jada sends Shawn Douglas a text when Belle arrives to review a couple of cases. Jada tells her the entire station is pulling for her father. She asks about Shawn and wonders if Belle has heard from him. Belle says she hasn't heard from him and Jada mentions he called in sick. However, she doesn't really believe he's ill. Belle explains about Bo's condition and how Shawn Douglas was trying to get a dose of the Sepsis drug to help save his life. Belle says she is bound by client-attorney privilege but guesses he didn't want to incriminate Jada. She realizes this is all connected to the meth lab explosion. Belle doesn't provide any details but does say Shawn D was there. Belle shifts back to work and tells Jada she wants to nail the person who beat up Philip. Jada is on board and says she already spoke to Kate. Belle notes the Salem Inn is being cagey about the CCTV footage. She says she spoke to someone who saw Xander in the square at that time, but she would rather pull the hotel's footage. They shift to discussing EJ's shooting. Belle can't believe there's no update on Ava but notes she doesn't ever stay away from Salem for too long (Come home, Ava!). Jada says she no longer thinks Ava is the culprit. Belle agrees that Ava is dangerous but would never be this sloppy. DiMera Mansion – Living Room: Rachel tells Kristen she came downstairs the night of the shooting and saw Johnny, with a gun, fighting with EJ. Kristen wonders if it was just a dream but Rachel insists it was real-life. Kristen wonders why she hid the information and Rachel says she didn't want to get Johnny in trouble. Further, he got what he deserved. Kristen apologizes for putting that awful thought in her head. Rachel says he sent her grandmother away. Kristen pushes for even more details and Rachel says she didn't see Johnny shoot her uncle. She got scared and ran upstairs. Rachel says she went back to sleep and doesn't remember hearing a gunshot. Kristen tells her daughter to keep her story to herself so they don't get Johnny in trouble. Rachel says she feels even worse than she did before. Horton Square: Chad rushes over and helps EJ off the ground. EJ says he tripped but Chad pushes for more details. EJ explains about Johnny and Chad says he's sorry for what's happening between the two. Just then, EJ flashes back to the gunshot and says he deserves everything he's getting. Chad offers to speak with Johnny but EJ thinks it won't do any good. Chad asks about the Sepsis drug and asks EJ if he had anything to do with the theft. EJ isn't thrilled with the accusation but swears on their father's name he had nothing to do with stealing the drugs. Further, he had nothing to do with beating up Philip. EJ says they have to band together as being distracted allowed Titan to swoop in and take over DiMera Enterprises. With that, EJ says Chad needs to vote for him at today's board meeting. He thinks the hospital will bring their family a new and better chapter. Chad says his brother can count on him. Kiriakis Mansion – Living Room: Julie arrives with EJ and Xander's proposals for buying University Hospital so they can review them. Julie stops and wonders about Victor's missing portrait. Maggie says Xander happened. Julie wrongfully assumes Xander tossed the portrait because it originated with Konstantin. Maggie says Xander's anger was directed with Victor and all the baggage that comes with being his son. Julie thinks his reaction is rich and had no right to steal the portrait. Julie can't believe when she hears Xander attacked Philip. Maggie says he didn't confess but also didn't deny it. Further, Sarah thinks their marriage is over. Julie feels sorry for Sarah, but Maggie says, if he is responsible, she doesn't want Xander anywhere near her family. They both realize they have an impossible choice to make about the sale of the hospital. Brady Pub: Xander is leaving Sarah yet another voicemail and says she will not keep him from his daughter. Xander gets a call and says he's looking for help with a custody case and needs someone who will fight dirty. With that, he exits the building. University Hospital – Lobby: Maggie and Julie arrive and speak with Kayla about the board meeting vote. Julie wishes there was another option, but Kayla says they are stuck with either EJ or Xander. Julie knows Tom Horton wouldn't stand for 'any of this crap.' Kayla says she has a plan, just as Xander walks up and asks about Sarah. Kayla says she can't discuss staff scheduling with outside parties. Before he can go off on her, Maggie says that all parties present know exactly who Xander is and what he's done. He stands down but says he won't be an outside party after he owns the hospital. Just then, EJ and Chad arrive saying not so fast. Maggie thanks Kayla and Julie for having her back and they say they are always in her corner. Julie asks Kayla about her aforementioned plan. She worked it out with the board to make sure the votes are anonymous, meaning neither EJ nor Xander will have any clue whom to blame when one of them loses. University Hospital – Exam Room: Brady arrives to see Rachel and Kristen. Rachel heads off to get some water leaving her parents time to chat. Kristen says she informed their daughter about her Grandpa John, which she thinks was the impetus for her illness. She informs Brady about Rachel seeing Johnny with a gun, fighting with EJ the night of the shooting. Kristen thinks holding that secret is what's caused her to be ill. Brady thinks they have to go to the police, but Kristen says she's unwilling to put their daughter through such an ordeal. She also notes how they are still being watched by Child Protective Services. They go back and forth for a while when Brady realizes he needs to get to the board meeting. Kristen asks him to promise to keep quiet and he agrees, for now. University Hospital – Lobby: Belle arrives at the hospital and runs into EJ. He says he was going to check in on John but thought better of upsetting Marlena. He says how sorry he is and wishes he could be half the father John is. Belle thinks it's the nicest thing he's ever said about her father. Belle and EJ embrace when Brady arrives filled with piss and vinegar. Brady thinks EJ is out of line for being around any member of his family with how much grief and heartache he has perpetrated on them. Belle tries to hush up her brother, but he pays no attention. Endings Belle begs Brady not to cause a scene on this very day. Brady agrees they need to focus on their father. Maggie, Kayla and Julie return from voting and run into Chad. Kayla says Brady's vote is the only one unaccounted for. Julie thinks the result of the vote is a lose-lose situation, no matter what. EJ tells Brady he didn't mean to intrude on his family's pain. He notes he checked in with Sydney who said their plane to Salem was grounded. Just then, Kayla arrives saying he needs to get to voting. EJ assumes Brady is going to vote for Xander. Just then, Xander arrives, and Kayla notes the voting is anonymous so no one can be intimidated nor retaliated against. With that, Kayla pulls Brady to the side and tells him the vote is tied and he is the deciding vote. Rachel returns to the exam room and tells her mother her exam with Sarah went quite well. Sarah told her that her stomach hurts when she gets upset, too. Rachel says she feels much better. In addition, Sarah gave her a birthday gift. Rachel wonders how Sarah knows it's her birthday. Kristen avoids the topic and says it must be in her chart (For those who don't know, there was a baby switch involving Kristen and Sarah). Julie and Maggie decide to head down to the cafeteria. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: University Hospital – John's Room: Paul and Marlena are sitting by John's bedside. He blames himself for John being in the hospital as he knows he should have talked him out of going to the lab. Marlena defends him saying there's no way he could have talked John out of going. Just then, John rouses and calls out for Marlena. Paul and Marlena talk to John about focusing on healing so they can go to a Cubs game. John gives them a thumbs up. Paul adds he's so glad they found each other and feels like the luckiest son in the world. Flashback: Paul talking to John after finding out they are father and son. In real-time, John says he is proud to be Paul's father. University Hospital – Lobby: Brady and Belle are chatting. He updates tink on Rachel. Brady says he now has three reasons for being at the hospital, including the board vote. Belle is grateful EJ will be keeping the hospital afloat. Brady isn't so sure EJ was the right man for the job, but Belle counters Xander wouldn't be any better. She wonders if Brady has forgotten him being arrested for beating up Philip. Brady is a wee surprised at the DA for not working on the assumption someone is innocent until proven guilty. Belle says there is evidence linking him to the assault and is certain he will be convicted. Brady gets it but just can't believe he wrote EJ's name down on the board ballot (Ok, so Brady cast his vote, and EJ won the bid for the hospital off screen?). Kristen and Rachel approach and Belle gives them some privacy. Kristen says Rachel has been given the all clear to go home. Rachel would like to see John, but Brady thinks another day would be better. Rachel realizes her mother told him about seeing Johnny the night of the shooting. Just then, Johnny walks up. Rachel gets very uncomfortable and she and Kristen quickly exit. Belle leaves a message for Shawn Douglas, checking on Bo. Just then, Will arrives, and they embrace. He says Sami and Sydney were able to get another flight and are on their way. He says he's also seen Carrie who will be along in a little while. Belle mentions Arianna Grace and Will says he's glad she's there even if it meant her missing her graduation ceremony (I wonder what happened?). With that, Belle walks Will over to see John. Horton Square: EJ calls Kayla and assures her the hospital is safe in his loving care, but she has no time. Just then, Eric arrives on the scene (squeal!). Eric wonders why EJ seems so happy and he informs him about the hospital purchase. He says a lot has changed since he left but Eric has no time as he's there to see John. EJ asks about Nicole and Jude but they stayed behind in Paris. He wonders if there's trouble in paradise and Eric makes a quick exit. EJ calls Dr Russell and makes plans to meet about the development of the Sepsis drug. He looks at Tom and Alice's plaque and tells them to stop looking at him like that (Ha!). University Hospital – John's Room: Will arrives and Marlena and Paul are thrilled to see him (I know it's not the time but do y'all remember how HOT Will and Paul were together?). Will thanks Paul for bringing John home but he gives all the credit to Andrew. With that, Paul steps out to call his fiancée. Marlena thinks Will should have some time with his grandfather and exits with Paul. Flashback: John tells Will he knows he is out of the closet and he is proud of his grandson. In real-time, Will says John was the one to teach him about being courageous. University Hospital – Lobby: Eric arrives, and Rachel immediately runs to him. He sees Kristen and asks about John. She quickly takes Rachel and makes her exit. Eric walks over to Brady and Johnny and asks about Marlena, just as she walks up with Paul. Just then, Belle joins the party and Eric shows everyone a video of Jude. Johnny distances himself as he doesn't feel a part of the family. University Hospital – John's Room: Will tells his grandfather he knows he's going to bounce back like he always does. He goes on to tell John about strong-willed Arianna Grace when Johnny and Eric arrive. Eric decides he needs to say a prayer which is Will and Johnny's cue to exit. Eric says John has been a father figure and role model to him. Flashback: John asks Eric to watch over Marlena. University Hospital – Lobby: Will asks Johnny what's going on as he seems to be in a funk. He explains he's having an identity crisis since he learned about his father raping their mother. Will says he's sorry for keeping the secret but Johnny gets it. He just isn't certain how he fits into the family. Will says he loves him and is there to support him in any way he can. Just then, Will gets a call from Sonny. Marlena walks up and Johnny tells her that he and Chanel are back together. They embrace and she asks about any updates in his relationship with EJ. DiMera Mansion – Living Room: Kristen and Rachel arrive home to find EJ already there. She sends Rachel upstairs and Kristen tells EJ what Rachel witnessed with Johnny. He appreciates the information but says both she and Rachel will be keeping their mouths shut. Kristen gets it and promises to keep Rachel quiet if he tells her where her mother is. EJ wants to make sure Mama Blake will never set foot in Salem again and Kristen agrees. University Hospital – John's Room: Brady sits with his father and thanks him for being supportive and loving him through all his trials and tribulations. Flashback: John tells Brady that Venice was Isabella's favorite city in the entire world and tells him about their last trip before she died. In real-time, Brady thanks John for keeping the memory of his mother alive for him all these years. He wants to try and be the type of father to his children that John was to him (Martsolf is killing me). Belle arrives and they agree how hard it is to see their father in this position once again. Brady knows he's been to hell and back and they both are grateful for all the friends and family who have arrived to show their support and love. Brady exits to give Belle time alone. Flashback: Belle sits in the hospital with John begging for a sign he can hear her. Just then, his pinky grabs hers. In real-time, John's pinky moves to touch Belle's hand. She says she just knows her father is going to make it through. John then utters, 'that's a fact, tink.' University Hospital – Lobby: Brady asks Paul about his upcoming wedding. Eric inquires and Paul says they are getting married in town as soon as they know John can attend. Brady thinks Eric should be the officiant and he excitedly agrees. They ask about Andrew and Paul says he'll be back in town soon. He is thrilled to think how their wedding will be a time for everyone to celebrate! Johnny tells Marlena about seeing EJ on the ground in Horton Square. In retrospect, he feels ashamed for being as icy cold as his father. Marlena promises her grandson his choices are not his father's. She hopes he will make choices about which he can be proud. Belle, Paul, Eric and Brady listen in as Marlena provides them a report from the burn specialist saying John's progress is nothing short of miraculous. Marlena tells the kids to head home and they think she should do the same. She says she's not going anywhere and they all agree to meet up again in the morning. Horton Square: Johnny tells Will he isn't certain he will be able to live up to John's example. Will says there is only one John Black but things John Roman is a pretty good guy. Endings Marlena lies in the bed with John. She hopes he is touched by all the loved ones who returned to be by his side. Marlena says, no matter what, they have always ended up together. We flashback to Marlena telling John they will always believe in each other and will never be apart. They exchange I love yous before John throws a penny in a fountain and the two engage in a passionate kiss. In real-time, Marlena lies beside her beloved with a smile on her face.
