Youth urged to follow in great leaders' footsteps
Addressing the gathering, Setkur CEO Dr K Venugopal called upon the youth to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of freedom fighters and walk in the footsteps of great national leaders. He stressed the importance of instilling national pride and upholding the ideals of unity, service, and sacrifice.
Dr Venugopal emphasised that Har Ghar Tiranga initiative is not merely a symbolic campaign but a call to strengthen the emotional connection between citizens and the nation.
District Skill Development Officer Srikanth Reddy appealed to citizens to transcend caste, creed, and religious divisions and come together in a spirit of brotherhood to contribute to nation-building.
He noted that unity among citizens is vital for the country's progress and development. In-charge Principal Aruna urged students to actively participate in the campaign by hoisting national flag atop their homes.
Setkur Superintendent Shyam Babu, school faculty, and students pledged to uphold the values enshrined in the tricolour.

‘Tiranga scam': AAP MP says BJP insulted sacrifice of martyrs

The BJP, meanwhile, said the claims are 'false' and called their campaign 'transparent'. Singh alleged that the tender opened a day after Independence Day, yet substandard flags costing ₹15 instead of the approved ₹60, had already been supplied. Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia wrote on X , 'Politics on Tricolour, business on the Tricolour and now scam on it, such scammers should be prosecuted for treason.' In response, BJP Delhi spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said, 'AAP leaders, especially Sanjay Singh, are long-time peddlers of lies. People of Delhi have not forgotten the propaganda scam under the name of the Tiranga campaign by the Kejriwal government in 2022. If Sanjay Singh has the courage, he should respond to these accusations.' The BJP spokesperson further stated that for the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, Delhi government procured flags through a full tender process, strictly following rules, and the purchase was done via a government portal.

Govt. distributed substandard flags: AAP, BJP hits back
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has 'looted' crores of rupees under a 'Tiranga scam' in Delhi, claiming that the government-selected company supplied 'substandard flags' for the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. The BJP hit back by terming the claims 'false'. Senior AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singh alleged that the Delhi government allocated ₹4 crore to distribute seven lakh national flags under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, but instead of the tender-mandated size, more miniature flags were supplied. He also alleged that the cost of each flag was fixed at ₹60, but a company selected by the government delivered substandard flags worth ₹15. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Singh alleged that each flag was to be 900 mm x 1,350 mm in size, supported with a 6-foot pole. 'But the self-styled nationalists of the BJP even committed fraud in the flag and the pole. The flags supplied were reduced to 711 mm in length and 508 mm in width, while the pole was cut down from 6 feet to 4 feet. The BJP government committed a scam in the name of the flag,' he said. 'How can any party, in the purchase of the Tiranga – the pride and honour of India – commit a scam? But this is what the BJP has done. The Delhi BJP government under CM Rekha Gupta has committed corruption in buying the Tiranga,' he added. Taking to X, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia said, 'Politics on the Tiranga, business on the Tiranga, and now a scam on the Tiranga. Such scamsters deserve to face sedition charges.' Responding to allegations, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor claimed that for the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, the Delhi government procured flags through a complete tender process, strictly following rules, and the purchase was done via a government portal. The GAD (General Administration Department) finalised the procurement contract on August 8, and all purchases were made as per regulations, he added. '[AAP leader] Sanjay Singh is a merchant of lies. The AAP party, which never celebrated the Tricolour Festival, is now raising false questions about the Delhi government's transparent 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. The people of Delhi have not forgotten the propaganda scam under the name of the Tiranga campaign by the [Arvind] Kejriwal government in 2022,' he said.

"Won't Overturn, Advisory Role Only...": Supreme Court On Presidential Reference
New Delhi: The Supreme Court will not set aside its April 12 order - which imposed deadlines on President Droupadi Murmu and Governors to clear bills passed by states - a Constitution bench led by Chief Justice BR Gavai said Tuesday afternoon, during the hearing of a presidential reference. The Chief Justice said the court would only act in an "advisory" role and not sit in appeal over a case involving Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK and Governor RN Ravi over consent withheld for a batch of 10 bills. In its April 12 verdict the top court said Governor Ravi's actions in that regard were "illegal" and "arbitrary", and that he should have signed off after the bills were presented a second time. "We will just be expressing a view of the law... and not make a decision on the Tamil Nadu case," the court said in response to preliminary objections on the maintainability of the reference. "We are in an advisory jurisdiction... we are not in appellate. In Article 143 (which gives the President power to consult the Supreme Court on legal matters of public importance) hearing the court can render an opinion... but it cannot overrule the judgment," Justice Surya Kant said. The five-judge bench, which also includes Justice Vikram Nath, Justice PS Narasimha, and Justice A Chandurkar, began by hearing preliminary objections from senior advocate KK Venugopal (appearing for Kerala) and senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi (for Tamil Nadu). They argued the 14 questions raised in President Droupadi Murmu's reference were substantially and directly answered by the verdict of a two-judge bench in the Tamil Nadu case. The President, they argued, cannot invoke advisory jurisdiction, under Article 143, to revisit issues already decided. Mr Venugopal said a judgement authored by any bench of the Supreme Court is binding on all, and, referencing earlier cases, like the 2G corruption scam, said "The court is being asked to sit on judgements already decided... this is wholly outside Article 143." He also argued a presidential reference was, in fact, a move by the federal government since the President is bound to act per the 'aid and advice' of the Council of Ministers. This, he said, is an attempt by the Government of India to derail a judgement without filing a review. His colleague, Mr Singhvi, argued similarly, and said Article 143 could neither be used as an intra-court appeal nor a substitute for review or curative powers. These arguments came primarily as responses to questions by the court on the part of the Constitution that says constitutional benches should answer constitutional questions. The Chief Justice had asked Mr Venugopal about questions of 'substantial importance to the Constitution', which must be decided by a Constitution bench of no less than five judges. He pointed out the judgments cited by Mr Venugopal - in cases pertaining to the Punjab, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu governors - had been delivered by five-judge benches. At this point Attorney General R Venkataramani said he had specifically raised the plea for a larger bench in reference to the Tamil Nadu case. However, both he and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta argued the court could, in fact, revisit or alter earlier judgments in Article 143 cases. Mr Mehta described the barrier argued earlier as a 'self-imposed restriction', since the Supreme Court has the power to overrule previous judgments, and it is not part of any appellate power. The court will resume its hearing tomorrow.
