Kurnool: As part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations, a rangoli competition was organised on Thursday at KVR Government Junior College for Girls under the supervision of the District Setkur authorities. Students participated with great enthusiasm, creating intricate rangoli designs that prominently reflected themes of patriotism and freedom. Regional Inspecting Officer (RIO) G Lalappa and Setkur CEO K Venugopal commended the participants for their creativity and artistry. They observed that the colorful patterns not only displayed exceptional skill but also evoked the spirit of the freedom struggle, serving as a reminder of the sacrifices made for the nation's independence. District Minority Welfare Officer Sabiya Parveen and College In-charge Principal Prabhu Charan appreciated the efforts of the students, noting that the designs combined traditional art with patriotic fervor. They said the competition successfully inspired a sense of national pride among the young participants. The winners will be felicitated during the Independence Day celebrations. The event was attended by NSS Programme Officer Reshma, faculty members Himabindu, Sunitha, Srinivasulu, and Ramana Gupta, along with others. The programme concluded with praise for the students' dedication and the message of unity conveyed through their art.

Dhone (Nandyal District): As part of 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, an awareness programme was organised at Jyotiba Phule Gurukula School, Dhone on Thursday, under the aegis of Youth Services Department of Setkur. Addressing the gathering, Setkur CEO Dr K Venugopal called upon the youth to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of freedom fighters and walk in the footsteps of great national leaders. He stressed the importance of instilling national pride and upholding the ideals of unity, service, and sacrifice. Dr Venugopal emphasised that Har Ghar Tiranga initiative is not merely a symbolic campaign but a call to strengthen the emotional connection between citizens and the nation. District Skill Development Officer Srikanth Reddy appealed to citizens to transcend caste, creed, and religious divisions and come together in a spirit of brotherhood to contribute to nation-building. He noted that unity among citizens is vital for the country's progress and development. In-charge Principal Aruna urged students to actively participate in the campaign by hoisting national flag atop their homes. Setkur Superintendent Shyam Babu, school faculty, and students pledged to uphold the values enshrined in the tricolour.

Kurnool: Kurnool District Collector P Ranjith Basha on Tuesday felicitated 19 students who emerged victorious in the district-level YogAndhra competitions, at his camp office. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector emphasized the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life and encouraged students to make it a regular practice. He announced the establishment of a dedicated yoga center for students and directed the concerned officials to initiate the process. The Collector appreciated the impressive performances showcased by children during the month-long Yog Andhra events. He lauded the students for their outstanding participation in various competitions at the district level, which led to their selection and commendable performance at the state-level contests held in Vijayawada. He expressed hope that the same spirit would help them achieve even more accolades in the future. As part of the event, national-level Yoga Bhushan awardees and yoga instructors Avinash Shetty and Dr S Mumtaz Begum from Kurnool were also felicitated by the Collector under the guidance of Setkur CEO Dr Venu Gopal and ZP CEO Naser Reddy. The programme saw participation from several key dignitaries including State Yoga Association Secretary Avinash Shetty, Dr Prasad, Muni Swamy, and District Yoga Association member Ganesh.

Cycle rally held on World Bicycle Day

Kurnool: In a vibrant celebration of World Bicycle Day, a cycle rally was held on Sunday in the city, drawing participation from students, sportspersons, and officials. The event was jointly organised by the District Youth Services Department – Setkur, District Sports Authority, and the Sports Authority of India Training Centre. The rally was flagged off by Setkur CEO Dr Venu Gopal at the Outdoor Stadium, and passed through Five Roads Junction, Raj Vihar, Zilla Parishad, and the Old Control Room, before concluding back at the stadium. Speaking at the event, he said the day has been observed globally since 2018 to raise awareness about the benefits of cycling. Though World Bicycle Day is officially marked on June 3 every year, this year the Fit India Mission proposed celebrating it on June 1 with a special campaign titled 'Sundays with Cycles.' He noted that the 2025 theme, 'Cycling for a Sustainable Future,' underscores the bicycle's role in promoting healthy lifestyles, mental well-being, and environmental protection. 'Everyone should make cycling a part of their daily routine,' he urged. The rally brought energy to the streets and highlighted the importance of choosing eco-friendly and health-conscious modes of transport.
