
BREAKING NEWS ITV newsreader tragically passes away on his 74th birthday as beloved wife pays tribute to her 'soulmate' and viewers rush to send their condolences
The broadcaster , who was best known for his long running role hosting Granda Reports and his work at ITV News, was paid tribute to by his heartbroken wife Joanna who said she's lost her 'soul mate'.
She shared the sad news of his passing in a statement which was posted to Facebook on Sunday evening via Piccadilly Radio's page, a Northern Station where Trevor also worked across his lengthy career.
It read: 'Trevor slipped away peacefully this morning in the early hours of what is today his 74th Birthday. He developed breathing probs last evening'.
'I've lost my soul mate and feel rather at sea. But thankfully he's now out of pain and we've been blessed with lots of time in recent weeks and months to reminisce and shape his wishes'.
'Taking quiet me-time out today to reflect on our 44 years together. Will miss him like mad. Let u know plans in due course.'

RNLI rescues 19 migrants from English Channel after dinghy capsizes
Dramatic footage released by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) shows volunteers rescuing migrants from the English Channel after their small boat capsized in 2024. The never-before-seen footage, released on Tuesday, depicts the Dover RNLI crew responding to a mayday call when a dinghy with 19 individuals onboard sank. All of the migrants were successfully rescued from the water by the volunteers, who threw flotation devices and helped them onto the lifeboat. The RNLI reported responding to 114 separate crossing incidents in 2024, saving the lives of 58 migrants, including children. Watch the video in full above.

Maryport Christ Church window damage delays museum opening
Damage to the windows of a Grade II listed church have been blamed for yet another delay in its Church in Maryport, Cumbria, is undergoing major renovation to reopen as the town's Maritime was initially expected to finish in spring 2024, but Cumberland Council, which is behind the project, said the museum would now open in autumn authority said some of the building's windows were more damaged than initially thought, leading to delays in repairing and replacing them.
