Tom Brady rips an Eli Manning jersey apart in ultimate act of disrespect towards his former nemesis

Daily Mail5 hours ago

Tom Brady brutally trolled his former rival Eli Manning on Friday by ripping his New York Giants jersey in half.
The seven-time Super Bowl champion made an appearance at Fanatics Fest in New York City, much to the delight of the thousands of fans in attendance.
Brady spoke to some of the crowd at Manhattan's Javits Center before then taking part in a WWE-style performance later on.
The Fox commentator came out to the theme song of pro wrestler Cody Rhodes wearing sunglasses and carrying a WWE-style championship belt.
But, as he made his way down to the walkway, Brady was presented with a Giants jersey that had 'Manning 10' on the back.
The former New England Patriots quarterback then ripped the jersey in half in a playful dig at Manning.
Brady's actions prompted Manning, who was watching on, to storm the stage and climb on his rival's back.
Their rivalry dates back to their stellar NFL careers, when Manning and the Giants were able to briefly halt the Patriots' dominant run to beat them in two Super Bowls.
The Giants stunned Bill Belichick's team to win 17-14 in Arizona in 2008, despite being heavy underdogs after Brady led his men to a perfect 16-0 regular season.
Then, four years after, the Patriots were stunned by the Giants again when they were beaten 21-17 in Indianapolis. Manning was named Super Bowl MVP that year.
Brady and Manning quickly regained their composure and were later pictured competing against each other in a baseball pitching contest.

Clayton Kershaw, Dodgers emerge with win over Nationals

June 21 - Miguel Rojas hit a two-run home run and Clayton Kershaw inched closer to 3,000 career strikeouts as the Los Angeles Dodgers earned a 6-5 victory over the visiting Washington Nationals on Friday. Kershaw (3-0) gave up two runs on five hits and two walks in five innings. He fanned four, to move within eight of becoming the 20th pitcher with 3,000 strikeouts and the fourth left-hander. Andy Pages had an RBI single in a three-run third inning and Shohei Ohtani reached base three times with an RBI single as the Dodgers rebounded from a loss to the San Diego Padres on Thursday while improving to 9-3 since June 8. Amed Rosario, Riley Adams and CJ Abrams homered for the Nationals, who had ended an 11-game losing streak Thursday. Rosario gave the Nationals a 1-0 lead as the second batter of the game when he homered off Kershaw, his fourth. The Dodgers took the lead for good in the third. Mookie Betts' fielder's-choice grounder scored Enrique Hernandez for a 1-1 tie. Los Angeles took a 2-1 lead on a two-out infield single from Teoscar Hernandez when shortstop Abrams was unable to get a force out at second base. Pages singled for the third run of the inning. The Dodgers went up 4-1 in the fourth on Ohtani's run-scoring single before the Nationals got the run back on Adams' leadoff homer in the fifth, his third. Rojas' two-run home run in the sixth, his third, knocked Washington starter MacKenzie Gore from the game. Gore (3-7) gave up six runs (five earned) on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings with four walks and four strikeouts. The Nationals pulled within 6-4 in the seventh inning on a two-run double from Luis Garcia Jr. One batter later, with two runners in scoring position, Los Angeles left fielder Michael Conforto preserved the lead with a diving catch. Dodgers left-hander Tanner Scott gave up Abrams' home run in the ninth before finishing off his 15th save. The blast was Abrams' 10th of the year. Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts served a one-game suspension Friday after benches cleared without incident in the team's Thursday game against the San Diego Padres. --Field Level Media

Nicolas Jackson says he is ‘so angry at myself' after red card in Flamengo loss

Nicolas Jackson apologised after his costly sending-off in Chelsea's Club World Cup implosion against Flamengo. The Senegal striker was shown a straight red card – just four minutes after coming off the bench – for an aggressive studs-up challenge on Ayrton Lucas in Friday's 3-1 defeat in Philadelphia. It came amid a calamitous six-minute spell in the second period in which the Blues also conceded two goals to surrender their half-time lead. It was also Jackson's second dismissal in just four appearances having also been given his marching orders for a forearm crack on Newcastle's Sven Botman in a Premier League match last month. 'I want to say sorry,' Jackson wrote on Instagram on what was a 24th birthday to forget. 'To the club, the staff, my teammates, and all the fans watching, I let you down. 'Another red card… And honestly, I'm so angry at myself. I work hard every day to help the team not to put us in this kind of situation. 'I still don't fully understand how it happened. But one thing is clear: it wasn't intentional. Just a moment in football that went the wrong way. 'No excuses. I take full responsibility. I'll reflect, I'll grow, and I'll come back stronger for the badge and for everyone who believes in me. 'Sorry. Sorry, Sorry.' Jackson's moment of madness, in which he forcefully caught Lucas on the shin, effectively ended Chelsea's hopes of getting back into the Group D contest at Lincoln Financial Field. Enzo Maresca's side were already reeling after Pedro Neto's well-taken 14th-minute opener was cancelled out by Bruno Henrique after 62 minutes and quickly followed by another goal for veteran Danilo. Wallace Yan wrapped up the scoring seven minutes from time, putting Flamengo in charge of the group and potentially making Chelsea's route through the tournament complicated. Defender Marc Cucurella suggested discipline was an area Jackson needed to work on. The defender told DAZN: 'He is young player, he has a lot of quality, he maybe needs to improve this a little bit. We are here to improve, we are not perfect so it is part of the game.' Maresca did not deny the sending-off was damaging, though he tempered criticism by claiming it was not a clear-cut decision. Maresca said: 'Those six minutes completely changed the dynamic of the game. 'I'm not 100 per cent sure that it's a red card compared to the Newcastle one, but it can be and the referee decided it. 'It's a little bit of a bad moment for Nico in these things. He knows very well that both situations were not something good for the team.' Former Chelsea defender Filipe Luis, now the manager of Flamengo, backed Jackson to bounce back. 'It was a little mistake,' he said. 'It was a clear red for me but it is a small detail for a player who can be one of the biggest strikers in the world.' Chelsea, who now have three points from their opening two games, face ES Tunis in their final group game on Tuesday night (2am Wednesday BST).

Royals score late, hold off Padres

June 21 - Salvador Perez's RBI single snapped a 4-4 tie in the top of the eighth inning Friday night and the visiting Kansas City Royals stopped the San Diego Padres 6-5. Perez's hit knocked in Maikel Garcia, who opened the inning with a single off Jason Adam (5-3) and reached scoring position via Vinnie Pasquantino's walk. Drew Waters tacked on insurance later in the inning with a two-out single that plated pinch runner John Rave. Reliever Lucas Erceg (2-2) got the win despite allowing a game-tying two-run single by Gavin Sheets in the bottom of the seventh that capped San Diego's rally from a 4-0 deficit. Steven Cruz pitched a scoreless eighth and Carlos Estevez worked the ninth for his MLB-high 22nd save in 25 chances despite giving up a leadoff homer to Manny Machado, his 12th of the year. Sheets' hit no-decisioned both starters. Kansas City's Michael Lorenzen went the first 5 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and two runs with three walks and four strikeouts. Padres right-hander Nick Pivetta lasted 4 2/3 innings, permitting six hits and four runs while walking two and whiffing three. Coming off a two-hitter over seven innings Sunday in an 8-2 win at Arizona, Pivetta ran into instant trouble. He hung a curve to Bobby Witt Jr. with one out in the first and Witt blasted it into the seats in left for his 10th homer. Pivetta was able to keep the Royals in check until the fifth. After walks to Freddy Fermin and Nick Loftin, Kyle Isbel bunted them over. Jonathan India cashed them in by cracking a three-run homer to left-center, his fourth. Luis Arraez got San Diego on the board in its half of the fifth by stroking a two-out RBI single to right-center that scored Trenton Brooks. Pinch hitter Jose Iglesias made it 4-2 in the sixth by poking a run-scoring single to right that plated Xander Bogaerts. Bogaerts finished with three hits, giving him eight straight hits, dating back to Wednesday. The streak ended when he popped out in the ninth. Garcia bagged three hits for Kansas City. --Field Level Media
