Rome [Italy], May 28 (ANI): An all-party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad has arrived in Rome, Italy, following the conclusion of its visit to France. This delegation is on a diplomatic mission aimed at strengthening India's international relations and addressing important global issues.
During their visit to France, the delegation conveyed India's firm stance against terrorism to French parliamentarians and officials, emphasizing India's commitment to global security. Building on this, the delegation's arrival in Italy marks the continuation of their efforts to engage with European nations on shared concerns, including counterterrorism and enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The delegation continues its international engagements as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts. Tasked with unmasking Pakistan's involvement in spreading terror, the multi-party delegation is now in Italy to further these objectives.
Earlier, the delegation met with the Senators of the India-France Friendship Group and the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence in Paris.
BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad mentioned that senators agreed on the necessity to be united in the fight against terrorism.
'We are very grateful to the Vice Chair of Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee, along with all her colleagues in the Senate in this majestic building, has only word to say - we are together with India in the fight against terrorism...They totally agreed that France and India, and the whole democractic world need to speak in one voice in the fight against terrorism emanating from Pakistan and supported by the State of Pakistan,' he said.
Prasad further expressed gratitude for supporting India's cause, 'We heard them and are very grateful, and we are really touched. Two of the Senators came to India in the Foreign Affairs Committee. They are also present here. It was a very emotional moment for us. We convey our great regards and thanks to the members of the Senate who have whole-heartedly supported the cause of India...The energy, compassion, love for France and India and the people - that is the takeaway,' he said.
Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio, Vice-President of India-France Friendship Group in Senate, called terrorism a 'menace' and advocated the need to combat the 'shared threat.'
'We are extremely happy to receive the Indian delegation. We recalled our strong bilateral ties and recalled the common cause against terrorism, a menace which has affected India, Europe and France. It is important to combat terrorism and it is a shared threat, which should be combatted for preserving liberty in true democracies. This is the message we have given to the Indian Members of the Parliament, assuring our full support for India's fight against terrorism. We shared moments of great friendship today,' Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio said.
The delegation, led by Ravi Shankar Prasad, includes BJP MPs Daggubati Purandeswari, MJ Akbar, Ghulam Ali Khatana, and Samik Bhattacharya; Congress MP Amar Singh, Priyanka Chaturvedi from Shiv Sena (UBT,) and former diplomat Pankaj Saran.
In a diplomatic outreach following Operation Sindoor, the central government has formed seven multi-party delegations to inform nations about Pakistan's links to terrorism and India's strong message of zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The event was organised to perform 'bhoomi pujan' for installing a statue of the revered Rajbhar icon in the Rajbhar-dominated Zafarabad Assembly constituency. Mahendra Rajbhar, a native of Mau district, was the chief guest at the event. To the audience's shock, Brijesh Rajbhar, a party worker, first garlanded Mahendra Rajbhar and then slapped him multiple times in full public view, causing chaos at the event. Following the assault, Mahendra Rajbhar accused Uttar Pradesh Cabinet minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) president Om Prakash Rajbhar of orchestrating the attack. 'The violent attack on senior leader Mahendra Rajbhar is yet another condemnable example of the growing insults and atrocities faced by the PDA society under BJP rule,' Yadav posted in Hindi on X. 'If the BJP thinks it can sustain its divisive politics by breaking communities from within, it is gravely mistaken. If the BJP is not complicit in this attack, the assailant must be immediately arrested and punished for his actions,' Yadav said. 'Violence is a manifestation of desperation. The BJP should remember that such acts will not demoralise the PDA but strengthen its resolve further. Long live the Constitution, long live the PDA,' he added. 1 2 Bhubaneswar: BJP govt has accomplished more in 24 minutes than what was done in 24 years, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Tuesday, highlighting the administration's achievements in its first year in power in Odisha. Taking an indirect dig at 24 years of uninterrupted rule by the Naveen Patnaik govt, Majhi said at a press conference ahead of his govt's first anniversary on Thursday, "We have proven in the first cabinet that 24 years of governance is not necessary for public service; much can be done in 24 minutes. The willpower is essential." He cited his govt's first cabinet meeting on June 12, 2024 in which four significant decisions were taken — implementing the Subhadra cash incentive scheme for women, increasing paddy procurement payment by Rs 800 per quintal, opening the four gates of Jagannath Temple in Puri, and establishing a Rs 500 crore corpus fund for the 12th-century shrine. Majhi said because of his govt's pro-people approach, it has earned the name of a people's govt, and he was lucky to be called a "people's CM." He also highlighted the creation of 17 lakh lakhpati didis, making Odisha the first such state in India, a record allocation of Rs 37,838 crore for the agriculture sector, implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana , and infrastructure development worth Rs 65,102 crore, among others. Emphasising his govt's stand against corruption, Majhi asserted that "every corrupt officer, whether a peon or an IAS officer, will land in jail". He also highlighted the administration's commitment to providing 40,000 govt jobs this year, following the 28,000 positions filled in the previous year. The BJD leader particularly emphasised the deterioration of Mission Shakti programme, which had previously empowered seven million women. "Those who travelled to Dubai and Singapore are now sitting at home, disheartened. Their self-confidence has been shattered," he stated. Naveen also highlighted the plight of farmers, claiming the govt failed to fulfil its election promise of eliminating middlemen and ensuring MSP for all farmers. "Farmers are now at the mercy of millers, with no fear of the govt," he added. Comparing financial management, the opposition leader also noted that while his govt left a surplus of Rs 45,000 crore in 2024, the current administration "is running on record loans".
