Ravi Shankar Prasad-led delegation meets Italian President of Committee on Foreign Affairs and European Commission
Rome [Italy], May 28 (ANI): The all-party delegation on Operation Sindoor outreach led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday met with the President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and European Commission of Italy's Chamber of Deputies, Giulio Tremonti. The delegation met with the President of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee of the Senate of Italy, Stefania Craxi, in Rome after it arrived in Italy on Wednesday. Earlier, the all-party delegation under the BJP MP arrived in Rome, following the conclusion of its visit to France. The delegation is on a diplomatic mission aimed at briefing international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism. The delegation, led by Prasad, includes Daggubati Purandeswari and Samik Bhattacharya from BJP, Priyanka Chaturvedi from Shiv Sena-UBT, Ghulam Ali Khatana and Amar Singh from Congress, MJ Akbar, and Ambassador Pankaj Saran. During their visit to France, the delegation conveyed India's firm stance against terrorism to French parliamentarians and officials, emphasising India's commitment to global security. Building on this, the delegation's arrival in Italy marks the continuation of their efforts to engage with European nations on shared concerns, including counterterrorism and enhancing bilateral cooperation. The delegation continues its international engagements as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts. Tasked with unmasking Pakistan's involvement in spreading terror, the multi-party delegation is now in Italy to further these objectives. In France, the delegation met with the Senators of the India-France Friendship Group and the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence in Paris. Prasad mentioned that senators agreed on the necessity to be united in the fight against terrorism. 'We are very grateful to the Vice Chair of the Defence and Foreign Affairs Committee, along with all her colleagues in the Senate in this majestic building, who have only one word to say - we are together with India in the fight against terrorism... They totally agreed that France and India and the whole democratic world need to speak in one voice in the fight against terrorism emanating from Pakistan and supported by the State of Pakistan,' he said. Prasad further expressed gratitude for supporting India's cause. 'We heard them and are very grateful, and we are really touched. Two of the Senators came to India in the Foreign Affairs Committee. They are also present here. It was a very emotional moment for us. We convey our great regards and thanks to the members of the Senate who have whole-heartedly supported the cause of energy, compassion, love for France and India and the people - that is the takeaway,' he said. Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio, Vice-President of India-France Friendship Group in Senate, called terrorism a 'menace' and advocated the need to combat the 'shared threat.' 'We are extremely happy to receive the Indian delegation. We recalled our strong bilateral ties and recalled the common cause against terrorism, a menace which has affected India, Europe and France. It is important to combat terrorism and it is a shared threat, which should be combatted for preserving liberty in true democracies. This is the message we have given to the Indian Members of the Parliament, assuring our full support for India's fight against terrorism. We shared moments of great friendship today,' Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio said. (ANI)

France together with India in fight against terror: Ravi Shankar Prasad-led team concludes Paris visit
France has reiterated its solidarity with India in the fight against terrorism emanating from Pakistan and agreed that the democratic world needs to speak in one voice on this issue, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said at the conclusion of the Paris leg of his all-party delegation's visit to Europe. The nine-member delegation was on Tuesday (May 27, 2025) joined by representatives of the India-France Friendship Group in the French Senate led by its Vice-President Jacqueline Eustache-Brinio as well as members of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee at the grand Luxembourg Palace for their final engagement here before departing for Rome, Italy. 'All the colleagues in the Senate in this majestic building have only one word to say: we are together with India in the fight against terrorism,' Mr. Prasad told reporters. 'They totally agreed that France and India, indeed the whole democratic world, need to speak in one voice in the fight against terrorism emanating from Pakistan and supported by the Pakistani state,' Mr. Prasad said, adding that the delegation was 'really touched' by this support and expressed gratitude to the French senators. 'We saw it all here: energy, compassion, love for France and India and the people, that is the takeaway [of the visit],' he added. The dialogue with the senators followed a meeting with members of the India-France Friendship Group in the Assemblée Nationale (National Assembly) earlier on Tuesday (May 27, 2025). 'This meeting was very interesting for us to note how India sees France. We have a partnership that is very strong, very old, and very good for both nations. It's promising for the future,' said Thierry Tesson, president of the group, which is planning a visit to India soon. 'We are fighting against terrorism in France also. Like the president of the delegation [Prasad], I agree it [terrorism] is like a cancer that has to be fought against. We are stronger when we are together against this cancer,' he said. Earlier, a multi-party delegation, including MPs Daggubati Purandeswari, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Ghulam Ali Khatana, Dr. Amar Singh, Samik Bhattacharya, and M. Thambidurai, as well as former Union Minister M.J. Akbar and former Deputy National Security Advisor Pankaj Saran, addressed the French media to highlight the global aspect of terrorism rooted in Pakistan. 'The distinction between the state of Pakistan and terrorism has now withered away. Terrorism as an instrument of state policy is a part of the military state of Pakistan,' Mr. Prasad told reporters. The European delegation, one of 33 similar all-party teams travelling across the globe to express India's zero-tolerance stance against terror, is now scheduled for dialogues and meetings in Italy. This will be followed by visits to Denmark, the U.K., Belgium and Germany. As part of India's diplomatic outreach, all-party delegations are travelling to global capitals to reach out to the international community on Pakistan's designs and New Delhi's response to terror, especially in view of the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
