Auburn basketball star big man Johni Broome had one of the best seasons of any player in men's college basketball. Next, he looks to turn pro.
Broome earned praise from former NBA star Charles Barkley as perhaps the greatest player in program history at Auburn during the NCAA men's basketball tournament. He was named SEC Player of the Year and also earned the Karl Malone Award and Pete Newell Big Man Award.
He was, without a doubt, one of the best players in college basketball. But what does his future look like in the NBA? That is what he is trying to figure out while participating in the 2025 NBA Draft Combine in Chicago.
More: Charles Barkley said Johni Broome can beat him as Auburn's best player ever
During athletic testing in Chicago, the big man recorded a 24.5-inch standing vertical leap.

That is less than Desmond Watson, who weighs over 200 pounds more than Broome.
For evaluators who were hoping to see better athleticism from the big man, they were disappointed.

But no one was more ruthless in their critique of Broome than Duolingo.
They encouraged the former Auburn star to learn Chinese because they think it would be a useful skill for him to learn because they suggest he will probably have to play in the Chinese Basketball Association and not the NBA.
This is a play on the famous "Get ready to learn Chinese, buddy" meme popularized on social media.
We currently do not project Broome will hear his name in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft. But based on his productivity, he could still become a second-round pick.
Remember: Nikola Jokic reportedly had a standing vertical leap of only 17 inches when he was a prospect and that worked out OK for him.

NBA Trade Idea Gives Warriors' Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler New All-Star Teammate

NBA Trade Idea Gives Warriors' Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler New All-Star Teammate originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Golden State Warriors made a blockbuster trade in February, acquiring six-time NBA All-Star Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. Advertisement The Butler trade saved the Warriors' season. Golden State acquired Butler on Feb. 6. The team lost to the Los Angeles Lakers that night, dropping their record to 25-26. The Warriors went on a major run after Butler made his Dubs debut, going 23-7. Golden State finished the season as the seventh seed in the Western Conference and faced the Houston Rockets in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. Behind Butler and Steph Curry, the Warriors beat the Rockets in seven games. However, the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated Golden State in the second round in five games. Curry suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in Game 1 and missed the rest of the series. Golden State Warriors stars Steph Curry (right) and Jimmy Butler get a new center in this NBA trade idea. Troy Taormina-Imagn Images Many people believe Curry and Butler need another All-Star scorer next to them to compete for the championship next season, which is why Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed that the Warriors trade for Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic this offseason. Advertisement Bailey proposed the Dubs trade Moses Moody and Buddy Hield to the Bulls for Vucevic, the No. 45 pick in this year's draft and a 2028 second-round pick. "For the Warriors, this is a bit of a desperation move, since Vucevic is 34 and on an expiring contract," Bailey wrote. "His long-term value is nowhere near Moody's (hence, Chicago's inclusion of some draft capital). "But they were woefully thin at the 5 in 2024-25. And even at this age, Vuc is a starting center who can pass, space the floor and fit into Golden State's read-and-react system." Vucevic is a two-time All-Star. He averaged 18.5 points and 10.1 rebounds for the Bulls this season while shooting 53.0% from the field, 40.2% from 3 and 80.5% from the foul line. Advertisement The 34-year-old Vucevic will make $21.5 million next season in the final year of his contract. Vucevic has played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Orlando Magic and Bulls. He has career averages of 17.2 points and 10.5 rebounds. Former NBA Star's On-Court Encounter With Fans Ends With Police Involved

Former NBA star DeMarcus Cousins found himself at the center of an altercation with fans that evoked memories of the so-called "Malice at the Palace" that occurred more than 25 years ago. The incident went down Monday during a Puerto Rico basketball league game. Cousins, 34, is playing with the Guaynabo Mets. At some point in the fourth quarter, the former Sacramento Kings center got into a verbal altercation with a fan sitting courtside. The fan was gesturing "cry baby" at Cousins, who clearly took offense. Cousins grabbed his crotch, prompting the fan to flip him the bird. Cousins pushed the fan's hands down, and that's when the altercation turned physical, as more fans rushed in to the fan's aid and Cousins' teammates stepped in to prevent things from getting even more out of control. The former University of Kentucky star ultimately was ejected from the game, but he didn't leave quietly. As he was being escorted by security and police, Cousins got into another skirmish with fans, who threw drinks at the agitated center. Police and security had to physically restrain Cousins and some fans, too. Cousins last played in the NBA in the 2021-22 season. He was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Kings. He averaged 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game over the course of 11 seasons. He first joined the Mets in 2023 before briefly played in Taiwan and Mongolia. He returned to the Mets this season. Cousins' altercation with fans reminded basketball fans of the infamous November 2004 incident at The Palace of Auburn Hills, where members of the Indiana Pacers -- primarily a then-known Ron Artest -- got into a melee with Detroit Pistons fans. The violent brawl led to numerous suspensions and it forever left a stain on the NBA. Aaron Nesmith sends message to Pacers fans ahead of Game 3

The post Aaron Nesmith sends message to Pacers fans ahead of Game 3 appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Indiana Pacers came into the NBA Finals as huge underdogs against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but after stealing Game 1 on the road, the Pacers have plenty of life. The Thunder did come back and dominate in Game 2 to even up the series, but things are now shifting over to Indiana as the Pacers will be at home for the next two games. Indiana has not been to the NBA Finals since 2000, so this is the first time in 25 years that the team is hosting a home Finals game. If the Pacers are going to find a way to win this series, they are going to need to take advantage of these two home games. They won't be able to do that without the help of their fans. Aaron Nesmith is expecting big things from the Indiana crowd. 'They've been waiting 25 years for this, so they better bring the heat,' Aaron Nesmith said on Tuesday. The Pacers are one of the best home teams in the NBA, but taking care of business on the road is what has really anchored this playoff run. Getting that Game 1 win in OKC was massive, but the Thunder are still big favorites in the series. OKC had the Pacers on the ropes for all of Game 1, but like we've seen before in these playoffs, Indiana just kept fighting. The Pacers clawed back in it down the stretch, and Tyrese Haliburton won the game in the final seconds. The Thunder were dominant in Game 2 as well, and they didn't blow their big lead in that one. Now, the series is tied at one, but not many people are giving the Pacers a chance despite being in possession of home-court advantage. With a 1-1 tie in the series, this is essentially a best-of-five series now. Three of the final five games will be played in Indiana. If the Thunder want home-court back, they will need to take at least one of these next two games on the road. They are favored in Game 3, and there is a good chance that they will also be favored in Game 4 when those lines come out. Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Pacers and Thunder will go down at 8:30 ET on Wednesday night from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN, and the game will be airing on ABC. The Thunder are currently favored by 5.5 points as they look to go up 2-1 in the series.
