Dad-of-six told police he was being abused weeks before ex 'murdered him'
Kirsty Carless, 31, was 'motivated by anger and jealousy' when she stabbed Louis Price, 31, in the heart after a friend sent her a picture of his dating profile on Tinder, Stafford Crown Court heard.
Jurors have been told Mr Price was considered by police to be 'at very high risk of domestic abuse' before his death.
Giving evidence, friend Demi-Louise Deakin recalled Mr Price confiding in her at a funeral a month before he died, saying: 'He said he was scared of Kirsty and if he didn't leave soon something bad would happen to him.
'He said she can be violent towards him.'
Ms Deakin, who lived near Carless, described another incident where Carless allegedly poured bleach over Mr Price's clothes and threw a shoe out of the window which hit him on the head.
Another neighbour told the court she called the police after witnessing Carless chasing and hitting Mr Price in the ribs with a metal pole outside the house while he had his arms up protecting his head.
Jurors were shown police body-worn video footage from when officers attended Carless' address on November 11, 2024.
They were told Mr Price phoned 999 to say Carless had poured bleach over tracksuits worth £400, had thrown a glass candle holder at him, pulled him down the stairs and choked him.
As he was moved away from the house by one of the officers, Mr Price appeared to become emotional, saying: 'It's f****** embarrassing … it can't keep happening, man.'
In a witness statement after the incident, he said the relationship 'on the whole, has been abusive'.
He said: 'She has constantly been abusive towards me, stopped me doing things I enjoy like football, and physically abused me.'
Mr Price added: 'She has abused me for years now yet I'm always the one that gets arrested.'
Jurors heard of several incidents in which the police had been called.
Mr Price was arrested on one occasion in May 2023 after Carless accused him of punching her.
She retracted her statement two months later, telling police: 'It was 50/50 and we hit each other, I hurt him as much as he hurt me, I felt so pressured to make it sound one-sided by my social worker at the time.
'It is wrong what I said in my original statement, I don't want to go to court and lie about what happened.'
In another incident that September, Carless called police to say Mr Price had hit her before the call ended and later claimed a neighbour had stolen her phone and pretended to be her when officers traced her.
The court was also told Carless admitted to police she had made up allegations that Mr Price had grabbed her by the throat three times after she confronted him about messages on his phone in November 2023. More Trending
She told officers it was a 'way of getting back at him for speaking to other women', jurors heard.
Carless denies murder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place in relation to the fatal incident on December 25, 2024.
She also denies one count of intentional strangulation and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in relation to the incident on November 11, 2024.
The trial continues.

"I'm going to adjudicate him guilty of the bigamy offense, which is gonna make him a convicted felon," Judge Charles B. Merritt, Jr. said. "I'm gonna sentence him to two years' probation with 8 days credit for time served. You're gonna have to do a mental health evaluation, complete a certified battery intervention program." Betsey's former wives and their families said they had hoped Henry would see jail time - but that they were glad to put the ordeal behind them "While I respect the court's decision and understand the reasoning behind the sentence, I can't say I was completely satisfied with the outcome. "That said, I recognise that the judge weighed all the factors involved, and I accept the decision, even if it wasn't what I had expected." "While it was not jail time, the fact that he is a convicted felon, that speaks mountains and I feel like that's vindication on our part," Michele added.

Manhunt launched for alleged killer after man found dead on canalside bench
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward after a man was found dead on a bench near a canal path in Northampton. Early Friday morning, a man in his 50s was found dead behind Auctioneers Court, near the River Nene in Northampton town centre. Northamptonshire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene, but the man was declared dead. A post-mortem took place at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester yesterday, but the man's cause of death hasn't been released. Today, forensics teams are still on site, and police said a part of the River Nene will be closed until Tuesday as searches continue for evidence. Investigating Officer DI Torie Harrison said: 'Our investigation is continuing at pace and we have a dedicated team of officers working hard to establish the circumstances that have led to the man's death. 'Our thoughts and condolences are firmly with his family at this time and they are being supported by specially trained officers from the investigation team.' Police are continuing to ask witnesses to come forward with any camera footage or CCTV of the area. Man tragically predicted his own death before being murdered by ex-girlfriend
Kirsty Carless has been jailed for life. A tragic boyfriend who was murdered by his ex predicted 'something bad would happen' shortly before his death. Louis Price was killed by Kirsty Carless. The "manipulative, emotionally volatile, and jealous' ex was this week jailed for life over the death of the 31-year-old, who had suffered horrific abuse at her hands. The Mirror reports she was told she must serve a minimum of 25 years, after being found guilty of Louis' murder following a hearing at Stafford Crown Court. The court heard how killer Carless, 33, had already been on police bail for strangling Louis the month before she brutally murdered him, in an act "motivated by anger and jealousy and fuelled by cocaine and alcohol". Father-of-six Louis had been considered by police officers to be 'at very high risk of domestic abuse'. Following the strangulation incident on November 11, 2024, Louis had called 999. He told of how Carless had poured bleach over tracksuits worth £400 after putting them in the bin. He'd also said she'd thrown a glass candle holder at him, pulled him down the stairs, and choked him. In a harrowing witness statement, Louis described how the relationship, which began in 2021, had been 'on the whole, abusive', adding that Carless had stopped him doing things he enjoyed, such as playing football, as well as physically abusing him. Hauntingly, at a funeral held at the end of November 2024, Louis confided in his friend Demi-Louise Deakin about his on-off relationship with Carless. He admitted he was 'scared of Kirsty' and feared that 'something bad would happen' if he did not leave her. Mere weeks later, he was dead. The terrible events that unfolded began on Christmas Eve 2024, an evening which Carless, from Cannock, Staffordshire, spent at the pub drinking double vodka and cokes with a male friend. She then went back to this man's house, where they had sex. It was at around 1.30 am on Christmas Day that a female friend sent Carless a screenshot of Louis' Tinder profile. Furious, Carless took a taxi back to her house, where she collected a kitchen knife. She then ordered another taxi to Louis' parents' home, where he'd been staying since the abusive relationship ended. While waiting for this second taxi, Carless called Louis repeatedly. Call records show she rang him a total of 45 times between 2.15 am and 2.44 am. Once she arrived at his family home, Carless asked the driver to wait outside. About 20 seconds after Carless let herself into the property with a key, the driver heard a 'very loud and prolonged' scream from a man who 'sounded scared'. Disturbing CCTV footage shows Carless running up Louis' front garden path into the house before 'stalking' him around the garden. He was later found on the floor of the conservatory, with a single stab wound to the chest. Less than two minutes after they pulled up, an 'anxious and sweating' Carless got back into the taxi and demanded the driver take her back to her parents' home. It was then that she confessed what she had done, and 999 was called. Giving evidence to the trial, Carless claimed she had no recollection of stabbing Louis. Stating she was 'not a violent person' Carless told the court she'd only gone to Louis' address as she believed he'd taken money from a card she had in her home. After picking up a knife with the intent to destroy the caravan Louis had been staying in in his parents' back garden, Carless claimed she'd 'panicked' after he was stabbed and fled the scene. As well as being found unanimously guilty of murder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, Carless was also found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm relating to a previous incident, but cleared of intentional strangulation.
