Tottenham Hotspur handed advantage as PSG star Joao Neves is suspended for UEFA Super Cup
New Tottenham manager Thomas Frank will be eager to win his first competitive game in charge, and having his opponents unable to call upon one of their best players is a boost. Spurs have played six games in pre-season this summer but have won just twice and will need to be at the top of their game individually and collectively if they want to win on Wednesday. They lost 4-0 to Bayern Munich last Thursday following a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United last Sunday, and Frank will need his men to turn up against PSG.

Morata joins Serie A side Como on loan
Spain captain Alvaro Morata has joined Como on loan with an obligation to buy from fellow Serie A side AC Milan, the two clubs announced on Tuesday. The 32-year-old spent the final few months of last season on loan at Galatasaray after falling out of favour at the San Siro. Ambitious club Como finished 10th in Serie A last season under coach Cesc Fabregas, in their first top-flight campaign for 21 years. "Last year, playing against them, I was able to appreciate the team and the project -- you can see that there is a lot of ambition," Morata said in a statement. "I promise the fans and the club that I will give 200 percent in every training session and every match. I can't wait to wear this shirt." Morata has won several major trophies in a career that has included spells at Real Madrid, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Chelsea. He also led Spain to the Euro 2024 title as skipper. "I've known Alvaro for many years and I've always admired the way he plays and the way he carries himself," said Fabregas. "He's an intelligent striker who has delivered in the biggest moments and a teammate who lifts everyone around him." The new Serie A season gets under way next week, with Como kicking off their campaign with a home match against Lazio on August 24. fbx/jc/ea

Tottenham midfielder Bissouma will miss the UEFA Super Cup for turning up late too many times
UDINE, Italy — Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has been left out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday for disciplinary reasons, an unhelpful distraction to manager Thomas Frank in his attempt to mark his debut with silverware. Bissouma didn't travel to the Italian city of Udine after being late 'several times' this offseason, Frank said at a news conference on Tuesday.

Tottenham XI vs PSG: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup, injury latest for Uefa Super Cup
Tottenham will hope to have Dominic Solanke back for the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night. The Europa League champions take on the Champions League winners in Udine as Thomas Frank's side look to go into the new Premier League season on a high. It has been a frustrating summer for Solanke so far, with the striker playing in just one friendly at the start of pre-season before being sidelined with an ankle injury. However, Solanke has been named in Spurs' squad for the Super Cup after Frank suggested last week that he would 'be available quite soon". Spurs could opt to be cautious with his fitness, though, which would likely mean Richarlison continuing up front. Destiny Udogie is also in the travelling party despite his own injury concerns, but Luka Vuskovic has not made the cut. Frank must find a way to bring some creativity to the midfield in the absence of Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison. Kulusevski is out for 'a long time' with a serious knee injury sustained at the end of last season, while Maddison is set to miss the majority of the campaign after suffering an ACL injury. Pape Matar Sarr started in front of Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha in last week's friendly defeat to Bayern Munich, but Lucas Bergvall could some into the side here. Mohammed Kudus is set to keep his place on the right wing and the big decision for Frank comes on the opposite flank. Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel are all pushing to start in Italy. Tottenham predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence; Bentancur, Sarr; Kudus, Bergvall, Odobert; Richarlison Doubts: Solanke, Udogie Injured: Dragusin, Takai, Maddison, Kulusevski Time and date: 8pm BST on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 Venue: Stadio Friuli How to watch: TNT Sports
