NYSPHSAA Softball Championships to be held this weekend in Broome County

BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH)- Broome County is hosting the annual New York State Softball Championship.
On June 13 and 14, Broome County will host athletes and fans from the state as the NYSPHSAA Softball Tournament commences at Greenlight Networks Grand Slam Park.
Top local teams from around the state such as Deposit-Hancock (Class C), and Maine-Endwell (Class A) will compete in the tournament for state titles.
As part of a multi-year agreement, Broome County will continue to host this event up until 2027.
'This weekend is a great opportunity to showcase everything Broome County has to offer,' said Broome County Executive Jason Garnar. 'Not only do we have the top players coming to play at our state-of-the-art complex, but we're also welcoming families from across New York to enjoy our restaurants, hotels, parks, and small businesses. This is the perfect way to fuel our economy and highlight our community.'

Peck spent 24-years at the helm, and amassed an impressive record of 611-177-53. Her resume also includes 10 Class 2 District championships, four Final Four appearances, and leading Fair Grove to the Class 2 State Championship the past two seasons. Dani Kepler will take over as the new leader of the Lady Eagles. She played under Peck, graduating in 2012, and played at Evangel, as well. BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WROC) – The Bloomfield softball team is on its way to the state championship for the second year in a row, defeating Section IV's Deposit-Hancock 4-0 in the Class C semifinal. Bloomfield struck early, as Ashlyn Wright punched two RBIs in the first inning with a hit to left field. In the second, Sydney Falsone popped up to left and reached on an error, bringing another run across the plate to make it 3-0. Wright locked it down on the mound, earning eight strikeouts as Bloomfield came away with the four-run victory.
